Should I buy? My friend will trade me the i7 970 for an L5639 and give me some extra ddr3 (for money) or I can buy 8GB ECC for $14

    That is not a bad deal. Hell, I'd buy it if it worked with ECC Registered memory.

    I'd go for it, overclockable X58 boards are usually pretty expensive, and to my knowledge EVGA's ones are pretty dank. Plus if you get your hands on an X5675 or even an X5650, they're still pretty competitive (especially when overclocked) even though they're from 2011-2012.

    @Zando Bob Like I said, I'd get an L5639 which is a low-power equivalent to the x5650 and he has overclocked it to 4.2ghz+ before so its probably gonna be fine.
