you will definitely be looking at a cpu upgrade next. Even if you don't notice much difference, that cpu is not future proof whatsoever, and you will eventually run across a game that is borderline unplayable.

I would say wait for 32 core threadripper. it's coming out in about a month, and would cost around the same as the 7960x. also zen chips work fine with android developement.

The final one was the nail in the coffin for me. I don't think there are going to be any issues with your system. The ramblings in the post you linked are 1 of 3 things. (1) Lies (2) issues that have been solved via bios or driver updates or (3) very unlucky individuals.

with fading sli support, that's a difficult question... I'm sure you will be able to find cheaper 1070 tis after the next gpu release, but it really comes down to what games you play right now. for instance, I play Destiny 2, which has outstanding sli support, and since the game is likely to last for another 2-3 years before the next release, I am confident in utilizing sli, even if it only functions in that game. So it's really more of a question for you to answer for yourself. I just gave you some things to consider before making an irreversible purchase decision right before nvidias next major release.

Hmm, power hungry boi. Thats a lot of load indeed, I've seen the CXm series in general die after a while in high load PCs, so maybe, though it seems to be more of a power up problem, Maybe the boot strap in the PSU that kick starts the controller system is fucked, hard to say. Buying a new 650 watt unit might be a good idea, and would leave more for an upgrade to a new GPU down the road.

Yea it can be done, there are cables that split the TRRS into 2 TRS connections one for mic and one for audio, you can also get tiny usb sound cards and you could plug that straight into your console and then plug the mixer into that.

for windows, you can just buy a key off of kinguin for like $20:

yeah it's a little over $1400, but I recommend these parts (the peripherals mostly) because I have used them and can attest to their quality.

And yeah, the ssd is only 480gb, but it will probably take you quite a few games to use all that space, and you can always just buy an hdd for it whenever.

The ryzen platform is superior for upgrading, which Is one of the reasons I went for an x470 board, apart from the possibility of needing a bios update if you get a b350. In 2019 AMD will have chips as fast or faster for gaming than intel, and you will be able to drop them right in without having to worry about buying a new motherboard, like you would for intel. though the 2600x will last you for a few years before you ever notice any falling behind in games.

It might better viewing angles than the aoc monitor. But I would ultimitely go with the aoc since you never know if you might switch to amd. they say that the navi chips in 2019 will be 1080ti level for $200-300, so having freesync might be a big plus in the future.

you need to try using a different card for a while (or integrated graphics) and see if you have the same issue. make sure geforce driver is up to date, update to latest bios revision, check thermals on the card to make sure it's not overheating, and try using a different display. The nature of the problem is also important, such as, does it freeze while gaming? does it do this randomly with no reason? does it only do it while a certain application is open? ect. please provide more context and try the trouble shooting steps listed.

this one is worth the slight premium over other mice. you can find some decent ones on amazon for less than 30 but they aren't nearly as good as this one.

this is true, I just recommended the 1400 because you can overclock it to the same speed as the 1500x/ 2400g and save a few bucks

J400 got a reaction from Advantex in What CPU should I get!? :/
you can get something like an x3470 which is 4 cores and 8 threads, and if you have the right motherboard they will overclock right up to 4Ghz (I think, I may have to check my sources on that one) and you wouldn't have to suffer the cost of upgrading to a higher platform with ddr4 memory.

If you want to jump platforms right now, I would recommend one of these:

Intel isn't worth buying a z370 motherboard for, and going back a generation will only put you back in the situation you are now, a few years in the future.

Exactly. it would be useful for a second rig to stream off of, but I don't see why you would buy a 1700 if you are primarily gaming. If you are doing video editing/ rendering however, I think the answer is clear.

    J400 got a reaction from wONKEyeYEs in i7 7700k a good deal?
this entirely depends on your situation. are you trying to max out your frame rate on a 144hz monitor? Do you have a 1080/1080ti?

if the answer to either of these is no, then don't buy it. If you think you might try to do 144hz gaming in the future, the answer is still no. if you are going to be waiting any period of time, then you should move to a more future proof platform like Ryzen or cannon lake.

If you need to upgrade right now, then I would opt for a used i5 or something.

J400 got a reaction from SesyHansGruber in Bottleneck help!
you shouldn't worry about bottlenecking anytime soon. if you want to push z 144hz monitor, then you might want to upgrade your cpu. but if you want a higher resolution (4k for example) then you will be looking at a gpu upgrade.

That cpu will probably last you the next 5 years, but 3000-4000 series Ryzen cpus will probably be a solid upgrade two or 3 years in the future.

I took the chance and came out with a 780 ti for around $100. but that was 2 months ago, now they are more like $200, but still about the same performance as a gtx 1060, just half the price.

Also, if you want to go the intel route (8600k build) it won't perform any differently than the one I showed you, unless you want to slap in a 1080ti and go for high refresh rates (144hz+). Just something to keep in mind.

J400 got a reaction from Narnash in What CPU should i get if I want it to be future proof and also think about upgrading later on?
I would go with a ryzen chip. motherboards are cheap, cpus are cheap, and 2 years in the future, 4 cores will hardly be enough for new games. We should be expecting 5Ghz chips when zen3 gets here, and I wouldn't throw out the possibility of 10 or 12 core am4 chips by then. Also, the ryzen platform will be given time to mature and game developers will be optimizing for both multi core chips, and ryzen itself. If you buy a ryzen chip now, you will not be disappointed in the future.

If you are on a very tight budget, I would recommend the 2400g, or the 2200g. if you get the 2200g, don't be surprised if you want to upgrade the cpu in the next year or two. if you buy a 2400g, you will probably be fine until am4+ 3 years from now. You will have integrated graphics to get you through the gpu apocalypse, and the future proof platform that am4 offers.

If you have a little more money however, grab the 1600. 6 cores and 12 threads for $180 is a bargain and a half. Not to mention you can get a b350 motherboard for less that $60 if you price hunt.

If you buy intel, especially an i3 7100, you will probably be upgrading next year, if you are trying to play anything new that comes out. If you go with the 8 series, you are paying $100+ for a motherboard alone, but you do arguably have the 8700k to upgrade to. that is, after intel releases the 9th generation i7s with 8 cores and 16 threads. In which case, you will be buying used parts. And don't forget, that chip doesn't come with a cooler.

You will also HAVE to buy a gpu now if you go with intel, as the integrated graphics won't give you much more than a minecraft playthrough and maybe the odd game of csgo. Which in the end, will destroy any budget you might have had.

60c is not hot. it's entirely common for normal gpus to surpass 80c when under typical load. your 760 didn't die to thermals. unless you are pushing 90c+ you are well within thermal expectations.
