Off topic, I had a friend who worked for A king's Dominion/Bush Garden's type of place, and they hosted an Elvis impersonator convention. The pics of all the Elvi doing their (his) signature "thank you vera much" pose, while riding a roller coaster, was priceless.

Did some drifting last week, I had a blast >_<
I won't forget that moment, I almost overheated my car, but it got sorted out.
I thought I'd devoured my clutch, nope I got home with no issue. I might need some new tires soon, going to save more money for it.
Took a lot of pics as well, I'm not a photography type of guy though, so I let my mate took the pics

Jv2391 got a reaction from maria2244 in why gigabyte motherboards have dual bios while asus only 1 ?
It's most likely a pricing thing. If Gigabyte invented it they probably have a patent on it and for other companies to use it have to pay a certain premium that typically is overlooked because the price of it once compared to a million units sold is outweighed. However it may be that it just isn't profitable or worth the cost for lower end motherboards. Ultimately you have to think of this from a business perspective and not a consumer perspective.

Gigabyte has patented the Dual BIOS technology.

Since Asus has to pay up whenever they want to use it, they only put it in the higher end boards.

Jv2391 reacted to TheStigsChineseCousin in Black friday ?
I'm in agreement, it's only a couple weeks out, you'll most likely end up saving something, even if it's not a huge amount.

As a standalone part I don't think you'll see much of a discount on the 6600k, possibly on the other parts but there's no way to know for sure until the sales are actually on.  For the cpu, I'm guessing the biggest discount you'll see will be a package deal with a motherboard or cooler.  At least in the US, the Black Friday sales tend to start much earlier than you'd think, and many places have sales that run through the entire month of November.  So if you wait all the way until the actual day, you may find many items out of stock.  I take Cyber Monday as more of a flash sale, and if you don't jump on stuff as soon as it goes on sale, you may lose out.  Basically, if you see something that is a decent discount on a Black Friday/November sale, pull the trigger.  It may be discounted a bit further on Cyber Monday, but chances are it won't be worth the risk of missing it entirely.

Jv2391 reacted to Zyndo in Why Linus is wrong (another macbook topic)
First off, Linus straight out said on the WAN show, that he doesn't really have a huge problem with the price or the features of the mackbook pro. his big problem is the term "PRO"... there is nothing "PRO"fessional about this laptop. It simply does not have the hardware to be paired with that term**. I believe Linus called it: "consumer at best" (or something to that effect). (**duo core, 8GB of RAM, and no dedicated graphics. it is literally like 150 bucks to get that in a desktop, I get that laptops gotta pay more for the same level of hardware, but 10x that amount is pretty redonkulous)

Secondly, as wonderful and amazing and awesome as USB C/thunderbolt is, 2k+ for a laptop where that is literally the only selling point is really.... I just don't get it. You said it yourself, in 3 years everything on USB C is going to make this computer amazing... but considering the laptop already has mediocre power, its going to be largely obsolete in 3 years (if not for raw performance, there will be something better on the market offering these things and more).

Thirdly, the "Best IO ever made" is your opinion... "the mackbook pro isn't worth it" is another person's opinion. Opinions can't be "wrong". They're opinions.

Lastly, everything you said about how good this laptop is, had absolutely nothing to do with the laptop itself. It simply about the perks of USB C and thunderbolt. I'm not 100% sure about the offerings of laptops nowadays, as I haven't really looked at them a whole lot, but I'm sure you could get SOME other laptop for that kind of price that is significantly better and offers at least 1 of these thunderbolt ports (if you can't, some company will notice this and release it shortly). You said it yourself, you can connect everything to 1 port simultaneously (so you certainly don't need 4).

I don't think its worth spending thousands of dollars for a Thunderbolt connection. You apparently disagree with that assessment. Feel free to go purchase one of these laptops =)

I would not recommend Asus, since their support is shit and cooling is getting really bad on a lot of them.

Personally I would rather get a business class laptop.  I am done with normal laptops for my personal use.
For clients Dell and Lenovo is pretty much up there all the time, Dell has the best support, but lenovo often has the better build laptops, the ideapad 510s is pretty damn good, same with the Y700. While Dell goes more after same specs for a bit cheaper and then cuts a bit on quality(just look at the 7559).

If a client comes to me and ask what laptop he should buy then I would never say a Acer laptop. About 70% of the laptops I fix are from Acer, so I would never recommend a Acer PC.
A Acer screen on the other hand is good.

they have a bad reputation among a lot of people. A bad reputation has to be insanely bad before the average joe knows about it. If you don't know anything about a type of product then it is very easy to get the worst product.

Well the gamecube was at the time of PS2 and Xbox and into the early/mid 2000's. Unfair to make the comparison of hardware from mid 1990's. I see what you are saying, but from the time I had a playstation I did not notice the same issues, but this is of course 18 years ago and time does funny things with our nostalgia factor

The original PS had all sorts of issues, including very long loading times, and shitty GPU that had all sorts of drawing bugs that devs had to find workarounds. But the Dreamcast was the first console with portable gaming system (well... due to cost, it was a primitive Gameboy, but it was something), 4 player controls, online gameplay, DirectX support (this was huge, as OpenGL was only in its infancy) and easy to program (was running Windows CE, hence the DirectX support), had VGA output for the best image quality, 1.2GB disks (over 650MB, at the time, CDs), and featured faster processor and more buffers allowing faster loading times. GameCube introduced the concept in games of dynamic disk loading based on the player placement (That is why you had some doors took a long time to open if you were running to it, instead of walking... See Metroid Prime as a perfect example. A bit silly yes, but no loading screen. Besides starting the game for the first time.)

Actually, Sega problem was that Sega only was successful because decisions made by Sega of America mostly, and Sega of Europe. Sega of Japan just didn't understand how to market and sell their console to the outside markets. So why is it a problem? It's not. It worked great! But the mistake that Sega of Japan did is they cut all power of Sega of America and Europe and they wanted to take decisions, and this is where everything started to fell apart...

Also, Sega was for no reason in panic mode. Sure, Nintendo was a difficult competitor, a big challenge, but they were panicking. I mean, in a matter of months, you had Disk System add-on, then you had the 32X, while at the same time in Japan you had the Sega Saturn...so when came the Dreamcast, and people being burned over and over again, people said "Yea, you know what... I'll wait.. they'll probably going to release some updated Dreamcast... let us wait for Sony...". Nintendo avoided this by extended the life of the WiiU, despite, normally, anyone would kill it off after 1 year and a half. And they didn't give up. In fact, Nintendo put the most effort into their games this generation than ever before.  I think, most people who got a WiiU is pleased with theirs and are open to the NX, despite the shorter than expected lifespan of a console.

My guess is that like the new 3DS, it will have an SD card slot (or micro-SD card) on the portable system. So, if you buy your games from the Nintendo online store, they should be all on that memory card.
