  1. @LinusTech, I'm done. I was fine with the bad data, I've even enjoyed your out of touch hot takes on WAN over the years. I'm not okay with your inability to accept criticism, your deflections, and your loose relationship with the truth. Your response post was a real punch in the gut. I've stuck it out with LMG after past debacles and gaffes, but you have demonstrated that your personal values do not align with mine time and again. I get enough BS in my daily life, I don't need it with my entertainment. I certainly won't support it. I was a floatplane member since the forum days. I wish you and everyone at LMG well, but I'm out.
  2. As far as I have been able to find the exe is not connected to anything else and shouldn't even be on my device, so while I am not sure, I don't expect any issues. I agree it isn't a proper solution, though. However, even the solutions given by Microsoft did nothing (in fact their solution caused me to have to redo all of my advanced power settings while not helping my issue). I'll edit the post with a Caution caveat.
  3. Lol I was updating the post with the solution as you messaged me.
  4. I did, it did not. but thank you. also I have solved the issue.
  5. No dice on touch panel. Cannot find any setting for that. I'm on version 21H2, OS build 22000.739, windows feature experience pack 1000.22000.739.0 if any of that answers your question.
  6. So perhaps I just am bad at googling, but I cannot find answers. After the most recent Windows 11 update, if I hold down the power button on my laptop I get a popup prompting me to "slide to shut down" instead of a power down. If I continue to hold down the power button it will eventually turn off, but it has doubled the amount of time for an emergency shutdown from ~four seconds to ~eight. Frustratingly, from what I could gather from google this is a "feature" added by Microsoft for touch enabled devices. Mine is not, though i was able to interact with it with my mouse, however it does nothing when I do. Also frustratingly I only shut down using this method when something is wrong, so that's assuming the mouse even works. Anyway, any help in turning off this feature is greatly appreciated. Solution(ish): So what I did was I found the location of "slidetoshutdown.exe" It is in C:Windows/System32 and it is simply titled slidetoshutdown.exe. From there I changed the permissions for that application so that I was the owner instead of TrustedInstaller, and then gave myself full control of it. I want to note that one should only do this to the file or folder they want to edit, and not the entire System32 folder for security reasons. Once i had full control of slidetoshutdown.exe I just deleted it. It's gone. And all was at peace once more. This may not be the best or most elegant way to do this but it did work. Perform at your own risk. Not for novice windows users. Caution: editing or deleting files in System32 can cause issues with system stability and functionality, and could result in data or system loss. Be aware of the risks when manipulating files in Windows system folders. There's a reason you have to jump through hoops to change permissions to modify these files.
  7. -AGP. Killed by PCIe. Not an exact fit but might work. -A better fit might be Quicktime's .mov files. Good quality but quite large file sizes. Killed by mpeg, mp4, various other better file types. -Sony's ATRAC3. a music file that was the sole playable format on one of their digital music players. Had to convert all your mp3's to ATRAC3 to play on the device. What crap.
  8. I guarantee you if you buy a boat you'll be buying parts for years to come.
  9. When I was a wee lad I spent many an hour browsing their website. Which if I recall had the best search filtering around.
  10. If I recall pubg creator created that mode for them
  11. Both statements in this section are patently untrue because you continue to reply.
  12. I think this is about riling up a bunch of people to get an apple hate train rolling with you as the engineer.
  13. Not surprised that he lurks from time to time to get feedback because he cares about his content. Funny though lol.
  14. Are you calling out his legit, unsponsered build guides or just his builds? Because for the build guides I'll say this: If you're popping in a bunch of other specialist components or multiple gpus into your computer (as someone building a $2k computer might do) it's good to have an over-powered psu that you know can handle the load at efficient power usage. The $2k build guides aren't directed solely at gamers, in fact he says that it's for enthusiasts who want the bleeding edge, and content creators and other professionals looking for powerhouse machines. Your consumer 4c8t i7s aren't the best option if you need to do a variety of heavy tasks at once, it just isn't. A good overkill psu will last you years and across multiple system builds. 32 or 64 gigs of ram is necessary for a large variety of professional use cases. Does linus always have the absolute undisputed best bang for the buck for every use case? No. But neither do you or I. He does have more than a decade of professional experience in computers and content creation though. As for the people posting builds in the forums, perhaps they have different tastes than you and care about things besides absolute performance per dollar. The world is a buffet and some people don't load up on the steak and shrimp.
  15. I have a Dell 5000 gaming with a 1050 and my cousin has the 7000 gaming with the 1050ti and a better screen. They're both great choices. Solid build quality and all the features/io you need, but missing some stuff you might want such as thunderbolt and type c. Even though sometimes I wish I had splurged and got the 7000, I have no regrets; the 5000 is an excellent laptop. At your budget you have a lot more options. You could definitely find something with a 1060 for under 1600. Edit: Oh your in euros? Even better.
  16. I'd have to say HP because of the gpu. You're not missing much from the vivo, which I just got for my mom, same model. Middling but adequate build quality, no keyboard backlit, lots of flex in keyboard. Don't get me wrong I love the thing for the $500 (USD) paid for it, but even my low end Dell 5000 Gaming laptop has much better build quality. Having said all that I have zero experience with the HP which could be similar in quality, but would also have the gpu and is cheaper on the website you listed.
  17. I know... It's just... Okay you're right.
  18. Do you own any Apple products? You're throwing a lot of shade so you must have a ton of experience in the Apple environment. I'm not an Apple user myself but my cousin used his unibody through college and grad school as an architecture student (meaning it had to keep up with 3D modeling and rendering programs). It still runs great. Apple may be overpriced for the hardware, and I can't speak for the quality or value of their current offerings, but I know this: his system is still running great with it's dual core hundred series i7 and low power AMD graphics. This doesn't even mention the seamless iot Apple environment he's enjoyed. The OS and software in a Mac is built around what is physically inside it. So before you start polluting the forum with (yet another) Apple rant/status update, how about you actually purchase a Mac and use it for 8 years? News flash, value isn't only hardware for dollar. Value contains aesthetics, long term support, prior satisfaction, environment performance, hardware utilization, longevity, and yes - perceived value based on brand loyalty and cultural appeal. I don't even like Apple products, but come on, I'd even take one over almost any Acer laptop! In short, get out of here with your status update. Edited for grammar
  19. Doesn't have backlit keyboard though. I should have mentioned that as well.
  20. I think your customer would have to be both a video game player and one who appreciates fine handmade furniture. I am one of those people, but unfortunately I live in the states and generally build my own furniture.
  21. I hope not, this site is slow enough for me as it is.
  22. When I was a kid it took 5 minutes to boot the computer and my phone lasted a week without charging. Minecraft was about the same as it is now though, young'n.
  23. Just got a Vivobook F510a for my mom. Build quality passable, not good. Keyboard lackluster with lots of flex. However the CPU is solid i5 8250U, and the screen is quite nice, and is ips 1080p. Excellent ports, 3 usb a, 1 type c, sd reader, HDMI, headphone jack. For $500 US I'm pleased with it. It only came with a 1TB HDD but a small ssd is cheap. Battery life so far has been good. Just my 2 cents since this isn't the model you're looking at. Edit: Also the trackpad is fine, if a tad small. Really satisfying clickiness too. Has a fingerprint sensor on it about 1cm square which doesn't track movement if you pass over it, but it hasn't been too annoying.
