  1. Hey guys, wasn't sure where I should ask about this but I figured this forum will help me choose the right parts. I've build several office and gaming PCs, however I never build a Server/NAS and I just don't know how much processing power I need for my plans. I want to run UnRaid on it since I have already purchased it for an earlier project and I enjoy the whole docker thing, which makes things pretty easy. It should also function as a file/DLNA server (no transcoding) for the devices in the network. To make things more complicated, it should run Windows as well to be used as as a HTPC for occasional media playback, checking mails and printing a page here and there. Gotta be windows unfortunately, as teaching linux to the people using it will exceed the patience of everyone involved There'll be no gaming at all. For windows I'm just planning to use a small SSD and for the filestuff a 3TB WD red as a start. Can always add more HDDs if necessary. Redundancy is not needed. Formfactor should be mITX, I'm pretty much set on the case already. Silent and energy efficiency would be a plus as always. Budget is about 600€/670$. Im located in Germany. This is what I diced together: 1 Western Digital WD Red Pro 3TB, 3.5", SATA 6Gb/s (WD3001FFSX) 1 Samsung SSD 750 Evo 120GB, SATA (MZ-750120BW) 1 Intel Pentium G4520, 2x 3.60GHz, boxed (BX80662G4520) 1 G.Skill RipJaws 4 rot DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-2133, CL15-15-15-35 (F4-2133C15D-16GRR) 1 MSI H110I Pro (7995-004R) 1 Samsung SN-506BB schwarz, SATA (SN-506BB/BEBE) 1 Antec ISK 600, Mini-ITX (0761345-15165-8) 1 be quiet! SFX Power 2 300W SFX12V 3.3 (BN226) + Some cheapshit prehistoric GPU I have lying around to assign to Windows Now I'm guessing the Pentium is not even close to powerful enough for my plans. I have no idea though, so far I only had to deal with i5s and i7s. I had the opportunity to get a nice used xeon for a reasonable price, however the boards are just too expensive. If anyone could help me out here, I'd really appreciate it. The part that troubles me the most is obviously the CPU. Thanks for reading, have a nice day !
