  1. Thanks for the feedback guys! I've done research on all the parts @19_blackie_73 reccomended and it sounds good! About the RAM, some quick googling http://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/108780-skylake-i7-6700k-ram-compatibility tells us that RAM is mostly dependant on the motherboard, and the CPU spec sheet only shows stock speeds, and the motherboard that blackie reccomended only supports 2133 / 2400 / 2800 / 3000 / 3200 speeds. If I can find faster RAM that isn't too expensive, then that wouldn't hurt. I'll have to check up with my local computer stores. This computer needs to last me a looong time and be very reliable so I'm willing to fork out a little extra. I realise the $1500 goal is pretty unrealistic! I'll be exchanging the WD blue hard drive for a 2TB WD Black, and the RAM depends, but that's all! Thanks for the help guys! If you want to see the art of a Games Art student of 6 months, I do post some stuff on Sketchfab (though it is currently very out of date)
  2. Hello hello! I am a games development student (Art) from Sydney, Australia! I use Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop, Substance Painter and Unity veryyyy heavily. In the future I will also be using Adobe After Effects and with that, video editting. The problem here is that Substance and Mudbox both crash when working on bigger projects, and Photoshop gets close. Mudbox and Photoshop due to lack of RAM, and Substance I believe it is due to lack of VRAM. Display drivers stop working and BSOD's with VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. I'll be playing the latest games doing research on the latest games on a 1080p monitor, though I have plans to upgrade to 1440p. My current computer specs are: i7 3770 (non-k) Sapphire Radeon 6950 2GB (originally a Geforce 210!) 8GB RAM A motherboard that only supports PCIE 2.0 128gb SSD If I should get a new computer, my 'ideal' build would be something along the lines of: i7 6700K 16GB RAM GTX 1070 250gb SSD I am absolutely out of the loop for other computer parts! So my first request would be, what are some good motherboards, power supplies, maybe even good quality RAM? I do not see myself overclocking this machine (until it nears the end of its lifetime, at least.) My budget would fall between $1500 to $2000 AUD. My second question is, if I do get a completely new computer, I will have spare i7 3770. It's been in service for ~4 years now, but it's running strong and has had no problems. It's been impossible to find a decent LGA 1155 board, so what do you all think I should do about that? (I am considering selling this computer if I get a new one, but if there are any nice ideas for what to do with an old computer, I'd love to hear!) Thanks in advance!
