  1. i spread the paste a little befor reassembly but i believe its fine and the ihs is on correctly ive had gpus apart befor and i went till the spring was fully compressed and good and snug, but temps arent my main issue because it could be a software, or firmwareissue thats causing the gpu to heat up
  2. yes it has been apart and everything looked good, nothing burnt, thermal paste looked a little weird but i put new paste had the same issues and i havent really looked into it more in a week or two cause it wasnt a priority
  3. hi i have a 1080 TI thats might be dead but id like to fix it or atleast try. so for the problem is that it crashes when a driver gets loaded it crashes, boot loops, and heats up to a gaming temp at idle, (i say gaming temp because i cant get an actual reading and im comparing it to a 980 ti while gaming). Nvidia is outside my knowledge, im used to amd cards, my first thought was to re-flash the cards vbios but last time i tried i had a second gpu in place for video out but the system just locked up and im not sure where to look next. i used DDU several times to remove the drivers but it was still grabbing some sort of driver. Another issue is that with a internet browser hovering over the close tab some of the box is missing and scrolled across the screen, like small black pixels that go away after not hovering the close tab x. i should add that the gpu was tried on 2 different pc's with the same problems, crashing, heat, grabbing uninstalled drivers, weird close tab box scrolling, everything. It had very usable psu's on both pcs one a 1200w platinum, the other 750w gold. the cpus should fine be one is a 6700k cpu and the other a e5-1650 v2. let me know if you have a different solution, or if you need more info. thanks for the help in advanced
  4. x79 turbo e5 2680 0 titan x 32 gb ram at 1333 a bunch of storage honestly if i could oc i would but my cpu is locked and i dont really trust the mobo with ocing an 8 core processor
  5. Thank you very much for the help I'll keep that in mind
  6. my current system will probly be retired to being a game streaming server with a 980 ti
  7. my budget is around $1000 but im also trying to hold out till i can get my steam deck just hoping my current doesnt get me mad enough to cause me to buy a system without anything already in mind
  8. i guess i ussually use 3 or 4 monitors depending on what im doing and if i have them
  9. Budget (including currency):$1000 usd Country: usa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, Vrchat, 3d modeling, battle royal games/fps games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So im looking for a suggestion for a cpu to pair with a Titan x maxwell, im not worried about getting best performance just something that will compliment a titan x. my current issue is that my cpu is showing its age with the clock speed and ipc, what ever i get will end up with atleast 32gb of ram and id like to have options when it comes to pcie, also the mother board im using really bottlenecks the storage but its working rn and has been fun as a toy. im just at a loss for what to upgrade too cause ive been toying with x79 for so long, anything helps
  10. Ecc is not important at this point to me but I need atleast 32 gb
  11. Im trying to find out because I have 32gb-64gb of DDR3 ecc, and I would have to do the full upgrade for the cost and I don't wanna go down on ram amount
  12. I was hoping to get some more insight on here because I thought it was an interesting point of view, I've looked around and there's not really concrete things that I can get my questions answered on
  13. So ddr3 quad vs ddr4 dual is similar enough, it isn't a substitute for ddr4 but it's keeping this old hardware so what up to speed And it hasn't given me a need to upgrade from ddr3 as of now but I'm looking to get better storage and avx2 code because the older stuff only hasavx1
  14. So I do more than gaming and I'd like to even more and I'd like to know what it helps with not just a yes or no, because I am willing to go older just to get the ram benefits, I also need a fairly usable pcie layout alot are really wonky, I would like to be able to add loads of storage and add extra pcie cards if needed
