An update; My pc was acting quite strange over the past week. Keeps freezing up with 100% processor usage and every time I force shutdown, everything in my utorrent que disappears. Decided to replace it with a basic 120gb HIK Vision SSD and it's working perfectly. However, most of the data I tried to backup like TV shows were incomplete. Is there anything out there that could revive my dead flash drive and 2tb hard disk?

Quite foolish of me to do it for the second time. But, yes I did try to connect the 2tb hard disk directly to the helio 300 which was running off an ssd boot drive and the pc didn't even boot up.

My Lenovo 420 which is core i3 6th gen, 8gb dual channel ram, 1tb 5200rpm hard disk is basically plugged into my living room TV 24/7. It was bought used over 2 years ago (Used) and has destroyed 3 portable hard disks and 2 flash drives. What I mean by "destroyed" is that each of the devices become unusable even when plugged into other devices. Any pc freezes when the devices are plugged into and almost all hard drive recovery tools I've tried get stuck as soon as the damaged hard drive is plugged in. The only successful tool was DMDE which managed to restore 40gb out of my 2tb portable hard disk, this took over 2 weeks with a core i7 Helios 300. All the other files in the drive were unrecoverable and marked as damaged. Wanted to find out if there is anything that can be done to repair my hard drives and flash drives and if the fault is hardware or software related?

Thanks for the advice, when it comes to the motherboard and CPU, any suggestions? And does the motherboard need to support sli? Pardon my ignorance

I'm a bit confused as to which motherboard I should go for, the MSI z170 g43 or the Asus z170 pro gaming? Also any major benefits between the i5 6600k and the i7 6700?

I want to get everyone's advice on each component, and tell me if I'm not being practical with the processor,ram,VGA etc.. And are Palit cards good? Should I go with an RX 480 8GB?

Thanks legacy99, I don't think I could go for a 1080 at this juncture cause it's just too expensive, however thanks for the fan tip, is 4 fans overkill though?
