  1. Just to put people's minds at rest... you CAN modify the drivers yourself. The only two files which need to be modified are `nv_dispi.inf` and `nvaci.inf`, and it should be possible to continue to do this moving forward provided Nvidia don't throw in any extra restrictions. Furthermore, adding support for the P104-100 and P102-100 is also fairly trivial. In each of the attached diffs, the original is on the left and the modified version is on the right. If there's enough demand, I'll write a nice script so people can run this on the fly, but to be honest editing manually with either a hex editor or nice text editor should suffice! Hope this helps someone! Sadly payday isn't for another week or so and grabbing one of these in the UK seems to be a lot of hassle. ?
  2. There's an identical thread in Servers and NAS...
  3. In all cerealness, if you want to do video editing... get a bigger budget. Hate to say it but at $300 you're gonna have a hard time doing anything. Building a desktop with cheaper, second hand parts will give you a bigger performance boost per dollar.
  4. Outlook works too! I just had horrid flashbacks from moving mother's 15GB POP emails over to a new shiny IMAP mail server at 0.36Mbps upload. :')
  5. As far as ensuring his Outlook setup still works, you'll need to remove his existing account and add the new IMAP account. Outlook (in general, if you look past Exchange services) is mail-provider agnostic so there should be no issues with setting it up to use SquareSpace. Change the MX records for his domain and the IMAP/SMTP account over to SquareSpace's and you should be good to go!
  6. No SSD and 4GB RAM will be limiting to say the least. Having said that finding anything much better for $220 will be a struggle. Keep your expectations low when it comes to the video editing, but as far as web browsing is concerned you'll be fine and dandy
  7. If both servers support IMAP, imapsync will be your best bet https://github.com/imapsync/imapsync Very easy to use - recommend running it on a server with some spicy bandwidth to keep the transfer times down though
  8. Hi! I don't frequent this forum very often at all (but am a Floatplane subscriber). I'm hoping that someone may be able to at least give me a blunt yes/no answer to my question. I have an iMac that's been crashing at random intervals over the past couple of months, each time with the same cause (as far as the console logs are showing). The kernel panic logs have been uploaded here. https://nextcloud.opportunity.jack.network/s/BgftgLrxecdyuEa Having spoken with Apple I've booked an appointment but given I'm out of warranty am fearing the worst regarding repair costs, so decided to do some digging. NVRAM/PRAM and SMC have been reset. Latest version of MacOS completely reinstalled on new partition table. Have also installed to external disk. Errors still appearing. I've since then run MemTest86 and have found this... Could this be linked to the kernel panics that I'm getting, despite the panics reporting there to be a fault related to thunderbolt? panic(cpu 6 caller 0xffffff7f8e89c71b): "UPSB: thunderbolt power on failed 0xffffffff Completely understand if this isn't the place to come. It was just my first thought and short of tomorrow's Apple Store visit was my last resort. I really don't want to have to pay those repair costs if it's just a case of a RAM swap! Thanks in advance!
  9. Thank you so much! I feel a lot more comfortable now
  10. Hello! An avid watcher of LinusTechTips videos, but a not-so-avid forum poster here Just wondering if someone can correct me if I'm wrong? Basically, I found an EVGA GTX 960 on the cheap and it's really great! It's second hand but has oodles of warranty left and saved me £80 so I'm a happy bunny all round. It has the same ACX 2.0+ cooler that its overclocked (and more expensive) brothers have, so I was wondering whether it's possible to overclock it to these exact frequencies really safely? I've had no experience overclocking anything before as I've always found the performance:power consumption ratio to be spot on for me, so would appreciate any pointers you could give me!
