  1. Budget would be at around £750. On it, I will mainly do word processing tasks, VOIP calls, internet browsing, and potentially some light video editing.
  2. Hi, Are there any suitable laptops that are relatively cheap that can be used for work/school based tasks? I also draw so a touchscreen display would be preferable. If the storage is a bit limited on respectable models, that is fine as I should be able to upgrade the storage (preferably of the 2.5" variety). Thanks in advance.
  3. Are there any particular powerline adapters that you would recommend?
  4. Hi, I'm having some home wifi problems, mainly with my PC. The current PCI card that I have is not powerful enough to reach my router and obtain it's 5 GHz speed. I cannot move my computer to another room as it is either impractical, or inhabited by another family member. I've looked at powerline adapters so I can plug in with ethernet, but are there any other solutions that you would recommend? Note: The problem is NOT my router, it is my PC, I can get fine connectivity where I am with my laptop, and phone. Thanks in advance.
  5. Thanks for the heads up. I want to go for an AIO, which one should I get that is reasonably priced?
  6. So, taking this into account, from a standard MSRP line, the R7 1700 is better to get, however, a 1700X is available at a discounted price which equals that of the 1700's MSRP, the 1700 is not available at this lower price due to stock shortage at the current time. If it was, it would be around 30 GBP cheaper. So, I will be choosing the 1700X, for a higher clock speed, and same price to a lower clocked chip. To back myself up here, Linus even talked about the importance of clock speed in things like video encoding and potentially streaming, so the higher performance at a similar price is enough to dictate this option. Thanks everyone for your input.
  7. Hi. I want to get a new system to start streaming, however I am torn between 3 processors. Which one is the best for streaming? (I choose these 3 because they're available at discounted prices, if you want to recommend x99 or x299, go ahead) CPU #1: i7-7700k CPU #2: R7 1700X CPU #3: R7 1800X For reference, I will be using 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1070. Thanks in advance.
  8. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has a graph or can find a graph comparing most of intel's mainstream processors to Ryzen CPUs. I want to do a new build and can't decide on Team Red or Team Blue. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi, I am uprgading my PC in the near future and want some advice on what I should do. I have 2 builds in mind, which I'll list further down, but if you have any other builds, feel free to post them. Requirements for recommendations: 1. WIFI, I do not have the ability to route ethernet cables to my PC. 2. That's it. (The WIFI can be in a seperate PCI-E card or just on the motherboard. My builds: Z270: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/PJxXQV X99: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/tBPjxY Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi, I am looking for a new case for an ATX system that I will be building shortly. I can not really decide on one just yet, but maybe the LTT forum could help. What is your favorite case that you own/have seen and why is it your favorite? Edit: So, from what I can see from the suggestions at the time, most of them are matx or m-itx, I am building an ATX system, with the ASUS Strix Z270-E. Just for clarification. Thanks in advance.
  11. I have considered this, and looking at the available IO, and expansion slots of LGA 1150 MOBOs, I did end up deciding on switching to a newer generation. Edit: Taking your advice into account, I was not able to find an ITX MOBO with my preferred IO nor wifi that is available to buy.
  12. Hi, I will be upgrading from an i7-4790, 16GB DDR3, and a Gigabyte H81M-S2H to an i7-7700, 16GB DDR4, and an MSI Z270i Gaming Pro Carbon. I do have an ITX build as I do attend LAN events and have limited space right now. Is this an upgrade worth it for gaming and video editing? (P.S. before anything is said about Ryzen, as far as I know, there are no ITX motherboards in the UK at the time of posting) Full list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/JPXr8K (CPU cooler and case were there before) Thanks in advance. Edit: If you have any suggestions for better cooling and cases, then do say so.
  13. Hi, What relatively inexpensive microphones would you recommend that can be hooked up to the I/O at the back that are good for streaming/gaming and can be mounted on something like a scissor arm? (I will be picking up a Focusrite audio interface soon, so XLR connections would be nice to have.) Thanks in advance.
  14. I will be playing PUBG, Overwatch, Fallout 4, R6:S, and For Honor. My budget is currently undefined, yet don't want it over £1000. The amount with the Ryzen CPU is £944.50 and the amount with no CPU upgrade is currently £606.78, yet I haven't added a motherboard yet.
  15. So, getting rid of the CPU, MOBO, and RAM, and changing the GPU to a Palit 1080, I am spending £300 less, would you recommend a better SSD/HDD and a WIFI solution or just leave it?
  16. Hi, I want to get people's opinions on an upgrade to my PC. I will be upgrading from an i7-4790, Gigabyte H81M-S2H, 2x8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, and a gtx 780 ti to this new build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/BWqZ7h Is it worth it? How can I make it even better? What would be the best way to personalize this build? Edit: This is what will remain the same, for now. HDD: 1TB WD Black PSU: 650W Corsair RXM Case: (I can't find it, nor can I remember the model name) (I may upgrade to a NZXT Source 210 Elite, so painting is easier) Thanks in advance.
  17. Okay, but within a reasonable 60+ fps, what GPU would you recommend? Considering constant 144 fps is unreasonable.
  18. Hi, Title mainly says it, but the games I want to play are PUBG, Overwatch, Payday2, and Fallout 4. What GPU would you recommend for 144hz Ultra for these games? Thanks in advance.
  19. Okay, I have compiled 2 new parts lists that are Ryzen and Haswell based. Ryzen: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/MittensKazotsky/saved/8vsD3C Haswell: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rQxvtJ What's interesting is, is that I managed to include a great wireless solution and better RAM for less than the Ryzen system. Yes, I did include a 3rd party cooler for the intel build, but their stock cooler was and always will be inadequate, so that's why. Even deducting the price, Ryzen costs less. So, in conclusion, I think I am going to go with Ryzen due to it's workstation benefits, and potential future proof-ness on an AM4 platform. @ARikozuM @g12601
  20. Okay, from what I can see, there is no notable difference in gaming, however in editing there is a slight speed increase. How noticeable is this? @SlaughterSmurf @g12601
  21. I will be manly gaming but will also be streaming and video editing, is it still not worth it then?
  22. Hi, Simple question, is it worth upgrading an i7-4790 to a R5 1600? Thanks in advance.
  23. Hi, I am looking for a new monitor for my setup, and am stuck on deciding what would be best. I would like to get a further opinion on this as a deciding factor for what is "the best" gaming monitor. Here are the specs of my PC: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/C6krQV What would you recommend as a monitor resolution and refresh rate? Thanks in advance.
