  1. Coming from someone who bought a razer blade 14 with pretty much the same mindset as you, avoid it if you can. People aren't exaggerating when they say it overheats, hard. Even when doing light-medium light productivity stuff you can feel it more than warm in it's hotspots, and while playing dota 2 in my case it would get super hot to the touch right below the screen, and on some spots in the keyboard (fortunately the WASD area was much cooler), I can't even imagine the heat while playing AAA games. If you are going to have a PC at home, please ask yourself this: do you REALLY need to have THAT much power on a portable device?, if the answer is yes, please ask yourself the same question again. Chances are, playing on the laptop is going to be very uncomfortable because of the keyboard and the trackpad sometimes being touched by your palms, plus it will throttle after a while. Are you really going to game outside your home? Only you know the answer to that, but from personal experience that's just not the case pretty much ever. The conclusion being that if you have a PC at home, just buy an ultrabook or whatever to carry around with you that's even more portable than the razer blade (because really, I have one and it's not even THAT portable, you can definitely feel 4+ pounds in your backpack), and not have to limit yourself to the duopoly of the 14 inch razer blade + gs40 that is currently running the market. The dell xps 15 is much better in my opinion, or maybe an asus zenbook with a 940m which is just FINE for games such as overwatch and dota.
  2. Yeah I was only planning to OC up to around 4.0ghz, I'm not very into OCing in general anyways! Thanks for the replies
  3. Hey guys! Been looking forward to building a PC, I was originally looking at a pre-built gtx 1060 config in the $1200 range, but after further research I've decided I'll build my own instead, and this is what I've come up with so far. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/vzbrvV Do you guys see any issues? I have a hard drive already btw
  4. Fuck! that sounds like a super deal breaker if that's the case especially because I can do 8-12 hour gaming sessions at once, don't think the laptop would be able to handle that do you happen to know what the thermal situation for the gs40 looks like? or is no 14" laptop with a high end mobile gpu able to handle hardcore gaming well?
  5. Ok the thing is, I do care about build quality a lot unfortunately and like the fact that the razer blade is more versatile in terms of carrying it around, 15.6" is out of the question for me atm. The only other option I see would be the gs40 but I haven't found a good deal on that one. Wish I could find more 14" options with dedicates gpus I can still cancel it though.. Does it actually reach 95-100celcius? that sounds crazy, isn't that above the security treshhold? for like the internal components
  6. Would you say $800 is a decent deal then? I don't really want to limit FPS because I do plan to play dota 2 hooked up to a 120hz monitor from time to time (I play competitive). I can still cancel it if you think that won't be too viable. Also would a good cooling pad do the job?
  7. Hey! I found a razer blade 14" 2014 edition with a 870m packed in it for $800, I thought it was a good deal and panic bought it. Now, I remember there were a lot of reviews saying it gets super hot and loud. But I would like to know how true that is when doing light (dota2, CSGO) gaming or browsing the web/watching a movie, AKA not under a lot of stress. I still think it's a decent deal for the price but is the thermal situation really that bad to the point where it would still not be worth it? I don't care about the fan noise.
