  1. Hello guys, So basically, last week I was at Tampa for a wedding, and on the way back I decided to make a small detour to go to Micro Center in Duluth, Georgia (I live in Tennessee, y'all!) to get some pc parts for my new build. At Micro Center I got a pretty sweet deal on a 7700K for $299.99 USD, and also purchased my motherboard, monitors, and internal storage devices. I didn't bother to look at what prices they had for Ryzen 7 1700Xs (The X version because X's make me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside) because I had never considered them as a CPU that I would get. I mean I new some basics about Ryzen, but never really looked into it. But anyways, everything was good at Microcenter and I was on my merry way back to Tennessee. When I reached my home, I was pleased, but for some reason I just started looking more into Ryzen 7. I started with reviews and worked my way onto the forums, and a pretty good amount of people recommended the R7 1700(X) over an i7 7700K (tho there might have been some bias lol). Now, I don't do any real heavy multi tasking, so to say, mostly my new rig will be used for 1440p gaming (along with my 1080Ti). But I had really hoped to use this pc for 3-4 years before needing to upgrade. So, should I have gone for Ryzen? I was reading somewhere that newer games may start using more cores, where Ryzen would be helpful in the future. It would be tough but I might be able to go back to Micro Center to return my 7700K and get a 1700X, but would it really be worth it? Thanks all.
  2. Just bought a EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid. Don't know if I should have waited some just to see what Vega has to offer :/. Oh well.
  3. https://www.nzxt.com/products/s340-elite-matte-white I am pretty sure you cannot interchange the side panels from the normal S340 and the S340 Elite due to he nature of the mount. (The link directs to the matte white version of the case, but there are other colors too).
  4. Looks pretty solid to me. If I had to say anything, why a 120GB A400 and a 500GB 960 M.2? Idk, I would put in a 500GB 2.5" SSD and then a 120GB M.2 and save some money, but hey I guess its up to you and how you want to configure your storage. Also, If your budget allows, NZXT makes a tempered glass version of the S340 if you want to check that out. Otherwise, looks good.
  5. Welp. The Dell panel is no longer $479.99, I see it now going for around $500-600, which I am kinda pissed about (I should have grabbed it when it was on sale! Darn!). I might start to reconsider getting the PG279Q. Or I might just wait for the S2716DG to go back on sale.
  6. So, I have decided to save the $300 purchase the Dell S2716DG over the ASUS PG279Q. Maybe I'll use that money for a new monitor when the next generation of monitors are released. Thanks all for the feedback and help!
  7. I think I should have added a poll, lol. @Vigilante505 and @HKZeroFive, how long ago did you pick up your PG279Q? Does your monitor have any BLB, or any other quality issues?
  8. So I have been wanting to make the switch to an actual 1440p gaming monitor, as currently I game on some crappy monitor I don't even know the name of. I wanted 1440p and High refresh rate, and I have narrowed my choices down to the Dell S2716DG and the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q (Yes, I know Acer has a monitor that is the same exact specs as the ROG Swift, but I don't like its aesthetics :P). Currently, I can get the Dell monitor at Best Buy or Amazon for $479.99, which looks very appealing, and the ROG Swift goes for $749.99. Both monitors are 1440p, high refresh rate (144Hz for the Dell and 165 for the ROG Swift), both are 27", and both have GSynch. However, the Dell has a TN Panel and the ROG Swift has a IPS panel. So I would go for the ROG Swift for the IPS Colors, even tho its close to $300 more. However, I have read user reviews of the monitor, and its fairly mixed. Some say the monitor came with little to no BLB and no dead pixels (they were usually newer reviews), and some say their experience with the monitor was quite horrifying, horrendous BLB, dead pixels, etc (usually they were older reviews). The reviews are what is making me hesitant to dropping $750 on the ROG Swift, as I would rather not enter enter a lottery system when spending this amount of money. Thats when I stated to look at the Dell SG2716DG monitor. The user reviews for this monitor are great, many 5 stars. However, the Dell does use a TN panel, which with out of the box settings yield worse colors than a IPS panel., and maybe even a worse experience when gaming. But, I have also read that with some tweaking to the settings, the Dell TN Panel can produce nice colors. So I am wondering, should I spend the extra $300 to enter a somewhat lottery system for the ROG Swift? Or should I save the $300 and live with (slightly) worse colors? *Please note that I am not a "hardcore" gamer, and I do enjoy colors and the overall experience" Thank you all.
  9. Ok thank you. What should I use to wipe off the pre applied thermal paste on the X52?
  10. Hey guys, So I have a 7700K for my new build. To cool it, I have a NZXT Kraken X52. I also have Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste. I believe the X52 comes with thermal paste pre applied. I was wondering, when I apply the Kryonaut, should I leave the pre applied thermal paste on the X52? Or should I remove it? Thanks
  11. G12 was recently released. G10 will work as well. If you want to find the G12, go to the NZXT website.
  12. Well, this thread suddenly got more interesting... cooking up some popcorn now.
  13. Basically, the NZXT G12 is a bracket you attach to the GPU PCB (I believe). Then you buy any Kraken series cooler (which are primarily used as CPU coolers) and attatch it to the G12.
  14. Completely forgot about the Artic cooler. This is a good option, especially if you don't want to water cool.
  15. Air cooled, probably the STRIX or the FTW3. Both extremely good quality and will serve you well. I have heard however that the FTW3 runs a bit hotter a noisier than the STRIX (maybe because it's a 2 slot card and not 2.5 slot). The EVGA FTW3 aesthetic also might not suite your liking or build. However, EVGA has superb CS, which is nice to have. The STRIX has a very nice aesthetic imo, good cooler, and is pretty quiet. Their CS is pretty bad tho. It's down to personal preference. I'm a little bit EVGA bias, so I would say FTW3. But getting the STRIX is a very good option as well.
  16. Although I have no personal experience, it should be compatible. I believe the Turbo card uses the same founders PCB, as shadowbyte said. I would do a little research on it tho before purchasing.
  17. EVGA Jacob has stated that there will be eventually a hybrid conversion kit for the FTW3, tho not ETA yet. I would assume there would be one for the SC2 eventually.
  18. Well, as far as I'm aware of, there isn't really a way to modify that card (or any card) to make it have another after market cooler (like the STRIX or FTW coolers). Maybe there is, or maybe I'm not quite understanding what you are saying. Either way, I would recommend looking into the NZXT watercooler modifier for your card. I believe it's called the NZXT G12 bracket. EVGA also offers a Hyrbid conversion kit, but I am not sure if it is compatible with that card.
  19. What model 1080 Ti? Is it reference or custom?
  20. My PSU is the EVGA 1000 Watt P2. My color scheme is a metallic scheme, so Blacks and Greys.
  21. Hi, I am currently planning my custom sleeved cables for my upcoming build. My case is the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX TG. It is a midtown case. The case has grommets on top of its PSU cover, so that GPU cables can be run down, into the PSU cover and directly into the PSU. So, I am planning on buying custom sleeved cables for my motherboard (24 Pin, 4+4 Pin), and GPU (2x 8 Pin). I don't exactly know what lengths to buy the cables in. Right now, I have chose my Motherboard cables to be 70cm long, and my GPU cables to be 30cm long. I just feel like the motherboard cables might be a little too long, and the GPU cables might be a little too short. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
  22. Ensourced.net has both 8pin cables for CPU and 8pin connectors for PCIe. What could the 8pin for CPU be fore then?
  23. Thanks guys. I think I will go ahead and order the 4+4 pin for my motherboard and the 2x 8pins for my GPU. And, of course, the 24pin motherboard. Edit: Wait, ensourced.net has both 8pin CPU cables and 8pin PCIe.
