I also dislike the salty complaining.  I can, however, see the "only use what you have" aspect of things too.  To me, this just sounds like the rules need to be more clearly written for the future.  It might be as simple as replacing "systems" with "teams", as it sounds like there was basically a banano like team running in boinc where you did it to get coins.  That's certainly not the same as using free (or even paying for) cloud services.  So, if cloud services shouldn't be used, that's not covered in the current rules, though I can see how somebody might misinterpret what is written that way.

@SkillzTA I'll say it here because damn I hate when the shoutbox on the event page gets all salty and toxic like it is.
 
At least for our own forum run F@H events renting or putting in the effort to use free cloud spot instances etc etc is not only allowed but encouraged. If someone is willing to put in the effort to utilize free cloud resources then we encourage that. Put in the effort then you get the reward, simple.
 
And you're right, there is no difference between buying 30  Nvidia GPUs or renting them, money was exchanged.

I know sometimes WCG can get in a funky mood.  Is the event log spitting anything out?

E@H sure does like AMD GPUs it seems. Both my mine are finishing WUs in under 5 mins.

Just gotta say, as someone new to this whole thing, I gotta give mad props to @SkillzTA for coming over here and being so sportsmanlike. Granted, you all are miles ahead of us, but I think part of what makes this so fun is seeing this sort of love for the overall community.

A gentle reminder -- we're about to cross the finish line for the Sprint (NumberFields) in approx 20 minutes. Prepare to shift GPUs over to Einstein and CPUs back to yoyo. 

I'm all in on Nvidia now also. Used to have a bunch of AMD 280X GPUs specifically for Milkyway@home due to their double-precision compute abilities, but I've since replaced them with much faster and more stable Nvidia GPUs with good DP. 

Just added another 20 CPU threads, a 4080 and a 4070ti to Numbers for the day....

Moved CPU (5900x) and GPU (3080) over to NF.  Hope it helps.

Also best place would be NumberFields for both CPU and GPU for the next 10 hours.

Oof, yeah, understandable with how the electricity cost is for some folks.
 
Also, to make aware.  I am donating a drawing for the prize draw.  Currently working on it.  Still debating should just be a file shared full digital piece or find a good way to get it printed.

If you are willing to pay the bill... I've been burning about 15USD a day on electric for this event lol. I don't mind in the winter when it's folding month cause it keeps me warm but it's just wasted power atm... 
 
I'll let it finish up what it's doing, about 10WUs then will be chilling for the rest of the event. Gotta save money for the folding event seeing as it's my team lmfao 

So turns out I need to bow out, power costs of 0.42USD/KWh is just too much to sustain, especially with the folding event starting on the first. Will keep the two i5 laptops running to see out the rest of the event on yoyo but need to power down the server and gaming rig. The joys of state welfare.
