Somewhere in 2018 I would like to upgrade my 770 to something bang for the buck 1070 perhaps? Maybe amd dunno. Would like to get some more ram as well if I can find a second kit of what I already have second hand I'll snatch it.

For now CPU is fine perhaps in 2019ish I'll rebuild with 2nd gen zen (if they go Intel naming scheme) the r5 2600 or something but that means new board CPU and ram. So I'll see.

Maybe I'll pick up the fluid gaming stuff from ek if I have extra budget at some point. Because liquid cooling is baller AF

Probably I'll try to go down 1 size from atx to matx if I do the CPU swap.

Lots of maybe, its and perhaps haha but the gpu upgrade will happen for sure.

I'm going to be honest here, but I will not attack anyone or insult anyone. Just want to get my voice out there. I'm just concerned about LTT and the path it's taking.

To be honest, I'm getting so sick of all these "paid promotions". It takes away from the genuineness of the content. Using this specific video as an example, it's extraordinarily unlikely for a group of gamers to go camping for a lan party. Isn't the point of going camping to get away from your connected lifestyle?

Also, the silly editing techniques (i.e. timecode 2:30) just take away from the professionalism and quality that I have come to expect from LTT over the last several years. When I see stuff like this, it makes it extremely difficult to take Linus and the video's content seriously. I used to watch LTT to learn.
I was deeply fascinated by the original 18 core Xeon + Titan X in an MITX case build. That was something new that is actually something people could do themselves (be it on a smaller budget). But a lan party while camping? Seriously?

Now all I see are ads, "sponsored by", "paid promotion", etc. I know that these sponsored projects account for a large piece of LMG's financial income, but the sheer quantity of these types of videos make watching LTT more of a chore than a pleasure. Out of the last 30 videos on the LTT channel, at least 8 contain "sponsored by" or "paid promotion" right in the video... that's almost 25%. Add the standard integration ads at the ends of videos on to that, and you're looking at 35-50% of the total video length being an ad. Then figure the ads YouTube plays at the beginnings of videos. I know this is a tough topic to discuss, but I just feel that LTT is following YouTube's trend at becoming a promotion service.

Feel free to reply. I plan on responding. I've done my best to be civil, and not have a "one-sided" viewpoint. I still love LTT and want it to continue to produce great content, which it still does... just not at the caliber that I feel it used to.

Linus in regard to the hardware that keeps hier company running doesnt go for "bleeding" edge hardware. the bleed in this case are bugs and other things that make the hardware unreliable. That is why Linus gets hardware that was the best 1 gen old. bugs and things are gone and the tech proofed it self.
besides its Intel knowing them you only missing 5% performance improvement compared to last gen.

From what I understand they build a second floor in part of the warehouse to create more office space. for example Luke no longer has to share his office (was it Colton?).
they had a building inspector come by the other day and he complained about not having enough fire exits on the ground floor. they build some of the sets in front of doors they were not using so they might have to move a set to use one of those doors as a fire exit.
oh and they got a shower as well now.

Laptops run hot under Max load for indeed. Then cleaning the heat sink won't help thermal paste will still help probably because the factory stuff isn't the highest quality just don't expect wonders. But keep the cleaning and replacing the thermal paste in mind might be something you want to do in a year perhaps.

NLD1st reacted to Mr.Meerkat in US vs UK pricing
So...after reading the Vega (UK) pricing thread on this forum and debating about @Ryan_Vickers calculation on the difference of pricing in the UK and the US, I have set out to find out what the actual price difference is across a selection of parts.

    Things to note:
    - I'll be using actual pricing from 3 retailers in the 2 countries, from the Murican side, we have Newegg, Amazon US and NCIX US (more on NCIX later) while from the UK side, we have Scan, Amazon UK and OCUK.
    - Although both OCUK and NCIX US have consistently higher pricing than the other two, the pricing difference for OCUK compared to Scan/Amazon isn't that large whereas for some parts, the pricing difference between NCIX and amazon/newegg is massive, giving a false impression so I have removed NCIX from the calculations.
    - In the EVGA G3 comparison, OCUK does not stock it so I used the GS as an alternative...which is more expensive than Scan and Amazon's G3 so...ermmm...
    - The component has to be in stock unless its Amazon and if its not listed at all, the cheapest price fulfilled by Amazon (i.e. can be delivered by prime) will be used
    - I'll using actual pricing vs RRP/MSRP as it provides a 'clearer' picture to the actual pricing (differences).

    Methodology:
    Find the 6 prices
Create 2 averages, one for the US, one for the UK
Change the pricing from dollars to £ for the US average (£1=$1.3 rate will be used)
    Calculate the difference (in %), calculation= (1-avgUS/avgUK)*100
Calculate the difference (in %) while disregarding the UK's 20% VAT (which is also known as sales tax)

    Results of the 14 products:
    Product: US pricing (Amazon) US pricing (Newegg) US pricing (NCIX) removed from calculation as to me it gives a false impression due to higher than other pricing. UK pricing (Amazon) UK pricing (Scan) UK pricing (Overclockers) Average US price Average UK price US average price in £ Percentage of increase in price (20% VAT included) Percentage of increase (VAT not included) WD 1TB Blue 7200RPM 49.99 49.99 66.38 42.7 43.9 43.99 49.99 43.53 38.45384615 11.66127693 -8.338723073 Corsair LPX 16GB 2400MHz 134.99 173.71 164.86 128.97 124.99 143.99 154.35 132.65 118.7307692 10.49320073 -9.506799269 Ryzen 1700 290.89 299.99 329.99 274.39 288.98 289.99 295.44 284.4533333 227.2615385 20.10586208 0.1058620764 i5 7600K 216.89 219.99 289.99 215.71 224.48 239.99 218.44 226.7266667 168.0307692 25.88839606 5.888396058 msi z270 gaming pro carbon 165.95 174.99 249.99 146.97 147.49 167.99 170.47 154.15 131.1307692 14.93300731 -5.066992689 Asus prime x370-pro 118.99 139.99 224.99 137.04 142.99 146.99 129.49 142.34 99.60769231 30.02129246 10.02129246 Seasonic prime 650 Titanium 149.9 149.9 Not found 159.46 153.98 184.99 149.9 166.1433333 115.3076923 30.59746064 10.59746064 crucial mx300 1TB 287.77 288.99 316.11 235.51 276.49 299.99 288.38 270.6633333 221.8307692 18.04180991 -1.958190088 corsair h100i v2 109.99 109.99 107.99 106.97 119.99 109.99 109.99 112.3166667 84.60769231 24.67040305 4.67040305 nzxt s340 elite 99.99 99.99 99.99 79.1 85.49 94.99 99.99 86.52666667 76.91538462 11.10788433 -8.892115666 212 evo 29.99 29.99 39.99 28.52 26.99 28.99 29.99 28.16666667 23.06923077 18.09740555 -1.902594447 evga g3 550w 79.99 79.99 99.99 78.54 77.99 83.99 79.99 80.17333333 61.53076923 23.25282401 3.25282401 Asus 1080 strix 589.99 599.99 684.99 614.98 575.48 589.99 594.99 593.4833333 457.6846154 22.88163969 2.881639689 EVGA 1080TI FTW3 769 799.99 849.99 799.98 777.98 799.99 784.495 792.65 603.4576923 23.86832873 3.868328732

Well the results are pretty conclusive no? (for this small sample anyway, got bored and want bed) Overall, prices in the UK are slightly higher however there are products that are cheaper in the UK such as the WD drive or the LPX or the S340 so...maybe its time that us Brits complained a little less about our pricing compared to the US?

Anyway, its pretty obvious why I removed NCIX pricing from the calculation...I mean that x370 motherboard, its almost $100 more expensive on NCIX than other retailers...

Hope you guys find this interesting (cause hey, its always nice to know the pricing difference between countries) and I can continue working on it tomorrow (i.e.later today when I wake up) but please do tell me if you want me to

On a side note @Ryan_Vickers, I know its not quite the 20 product sample you wanted nor is this really conclusive due to the small sample but hey ho, it still visualises how prices in the UK isn't actually that bad compared to the US and how the Vega pricing seems to be an outlier.
Also this is a really bad time to post this as everyone in the UK is probably asleep and won't see this thread  ah well

    Disclaimer:
The prices I've used are current prices of 15/08/2017 12:30-01:15am~ BST (GMT+1) so take the results with a grain of salt as ya know, sales and what not.
