personally as a 144hz 1440p user, id recommend you to go 1080p 144hz and be happy about having 2 screens. that also comes with benefits for work. and still make sure you got dual channel 16gb ram (other than that a 2600 / 1060 6gb should be aight, right?)

Personally what I would do in your scenario is split the budget between a desktop with more horsepower and a cheaper 2 in 1 with a pen, this then meets your productivity needs for the laptop and also the functionality of the desktop

If it'd just for notes a tablet could be in the mix. The surface go I believe works with their pen and the cheapest iPad works with the pencil.

    Hey guys,

I need your help with deciding my upgrade path. Im on Z170-K and 6600k right now.
So CPU wise for now a 3600 wld be sufficient. 3700x could come in handy as Im making music.

    1. Would you...
    - A: Buy Ryzen 5 3600 and see how my workloads develop. [209€]
If I need more multicore performance, I can still upgrade to that and if I do itll be 4000 series, which will probably have other improvements as well, maybe even another bump in single core performance. So I'd not only jump another tier, but also generation.

    - B: Buy Ryzen 7 3700x, enjoy slight edge in gaming and be prepared for any realistic future music making and gaming demands. [350€]
Id mostly not consider Ryzen 4000 anymore in this case, unless its gonna be vastly better energy, overclocking or SC performance wise. What if ryzen 4000 gets a "likeable" bump in single core performance though - that'd come in handy for gaming as well as making music, since DAWs profit from that? I'd mostly miss out on the latter, as I wont jump from hexa 3000 to octa 4000 but from octa core to octa core in this scenario. There will probably be less possible justification for doing the latter.

I think 3900x is definitely overkill for now. Id only buy it if I really know I do need its computing power.

    2. Would you...
    - A: Buy B450 and ditch many features apart from PCIe 4.0 [100€]

    - B: Buy X570 Taichi by ASrock [320€]
with the possibility of TB3 (essential for music production if I upgrade devices!!!), guaranteed 4000 series support and probably easier taming of a 12core or 16core tier should I need that, BT5.0 (which I'd actually use), Wifi 6, M.2 Cooling already there, better IO, better build quality, the better Intel Lan, flashback button and other quality of life features, the possibility of PCIe 4.0.
I know your probably asking yourself: why the Taichi mate? Well, its actually the build quality, intel lan, bluetooth and TB3 that I'm after. Therefor, I dont even consider like a 190€ X570 Prime or sth like that. As I'd mostly effectively pay 90ish € for PCIe 4.0 only, which out of all these upsides (apart from better VRMs than B450) is the least attractive one to me. As far as I've seen, the Taichi is the cheapest one with TB3 support out there.

    Prices:
1.A + 2.A = ~309€ gets me a CPU upgrade but a MB downgrade feature and quality wise (realtek instead of intel lan etc) and the board probably wont be able to handle 12 and 16 core 4000 series, if it handles 4000 series at all. Also, if I ever need TB3 or PCIe 4.0 I need to upgrade. If I need bluetooth or wifi, Ill have to look at an ugly dongle all the time, but I could live with that.
1.B + 2.A = ~ 450€ gets me the same Motherboard downsides, but an amazing CPU. I probably wont consider 4000 series then anymore, and if I dont up my music making and game developers dont start favoring octa over hexa core, Ill have overspent cpu wise. (150 bucks)

1.A + 2.B = 529€ gets me a decent CPU upgrade and a MB with all the features I could ever think of needing + just better feel, quality and stuff like bluetooth and wifi 6 without going through any hassle. Its fan is higher quality than a low end X570 board. Should I need more computing power, 4000 series will more likely be compatible than with B450 - especially the higher tier 12 and 16 core models. Should I not end up needing more computing power, but just TB3 then I dont need to do anything but buy a TB3 card. And all the while I can enjoy BT, Intel Lan, better look and quality, better IO, possibility of using PCIe 4.0 etc.

1.B + 2.B = 670€ another whopping 140 bucks more than 3600 and X570. Quite expensive already to the point where im not sure if getting a 3900x and B450 wouldve been the better option (529+100€ = 629!!!!, gets me a 12 core instead of a hexa core)

what do you guys think? I have some sort of blockade, I dont know which combination to get anymore. I really appreciaty any help haha

personally Im using 1440p 144Hz. I appreciate both "advantages" over 1080p 60hz. If I had to choose, Id side with going for 144Hz. Thats much more noticeable than the resolution alone. However, it always depends on budget, workloads, and preferences in the end. high quality 1440p 144hz will probably stay in your room / office for longer, but its quite expensive tbh.

Getting a board with better VRMs means it can sustain a higher overclock without throttling, but a decent B450 board will be enough.

    None at all
DAWs benefit in both frequency and more cores, most DAWs assign each core to a single track, so if you have 4 Tracks, and 4 Cores, each track will get a core, but if you have 8 Tracks, then each core will get 2 Tracks, so higher frequency will help a lot in that regard, though I don't know how Studio One assigns cores
6th Gen and 7th Gen are still really expensive these days, people are really holding on to them, even though you can buy a new Intel CPU that has better performance for a lower price than what they are selling them
All the processing is being done through RAM, so SSD's don't make difference in terms of performance other than loading times which is pretty quick on my SATA SSD's, and I doubt an NVME SSD will improve loading times much over SATA SSD's, it's not worth it
    my 8700K @ 4.6Ghz is getting hammered
It's unclear at this moment, but generally Intel is more suited for this because of the low RAM latency, but Ryzen 3000 has crazy amounts of cache and that might make a difference, I suggest you wait for DAW benchmarks which should be available next week or something

    hi there,
oc your ram to save a few bucks.
get a b450 board for cheap.
see if ull be fine with a 3600 or if u need 3700x (maybe even higher?) - I guess that all depends on what you'll be doing (especially simultaneously).
    spend the rest on gpu.

However, as far as I understand it also matters which programs / method of encoding etc ull be using when streaming, so my knowledge isnt sufficient here, ill pass on saying more to that.

Even if that were the case (which it isn't; there is good scientific literature on the subject), that wouldn't make what I said any less true. Those headphones have unacceptable flaws which are blindingly obvious in measurements. And there are more types of measurements than pure frequency response; soundstage and imaging, for instance, can be analyzed surprisingly well by comparing diffuse field measurements to the headphone's HRTF.

Of course, nothing is going to beat directly listening. But as for comparing measurements to subjective listening impressions? People are untrustworthy, and not many people are able to put their experience into useful words anyhow. When someone says "clear", does that mean elevated treble, peakiness, or uniform damping? Impressions tend to be ambiguous, while a good CSD tends not to be.

If you're having trouble correlating frequency response with subjective evaluations, you may want to try out Harman's critical listening training software.
Learn to interpret a frequency response chart. You have to account for systematic test rig artifacts in uncompensated graphs, especially for IEM's. Even when looking at a compensated FR graph, always be aware of the test rig and compensation used. If you're talking about In-Ear Fidelity's measurements, compare the P1 to the KSE1200 and it should become fairly obvious where the amplitude data stops being reliable as phase distortion takes over.
Way to show you didn't read through the link. MSRP on the H9i, which I compared the QC35 to, is $500. I was not referring to the H4 – I haven't had any headtime with it and there are no good measurements out there. I only assume that it will measure (and sound) similar to the rest of the B&O lineup – that is to say the muddiness of old-style Beats paired with the grain of Grados.

I'd recommend a Bose Headset. I've been using Bose since like 2015ish and using it daily for hours and hours. It has 1 big advantage IMO and thats: its super super comfortable to wear. Bluetooth is perfect, battery life too, once you have a mic like that u'll probably use it more frequently for phone calls (at least that was my experience). So summarizing:
    - Good quality mic is given
    - Overear style is given
    - Super comfortable to wear
    - Wireless is given
    - AND as its not a gamer esque kinda headset, you can actually wear it in public

For gaming: Discord can actually run via speakers, without the other parties hearing themselves. If you're using another program that doesnt come with that functionality: I just used sth like a Samson Meteor Mic, where you can just plug the 3.5mm in. (or simply directly to your pc). Right now I am using a more advanced Audio Interface as Im making music now.

Kinda off topic, but I cant stress enough how happy I've been with my Bose AE2 SoundLink. My brother has a newer QC 35 (i think thats the name, it comes with noise cancelling).
If i remember correctly, 200-250€ should be exactly enough.

MU-MIMO only works for 802.11ac-devices and only when using 5GHz-band, so it doesn't work if e.g. a device only connects via 2.4GHz. This limits its usefulness somewhat. It's not a marketing-trick, but it's also not as great as they paint it as.

The issues you re running into now are not due to the rooter but due to your adsl connection. Once you change to fiber optic, you will probably experience a "whole new internet"

That's not a particularly impressive router, I'll give you that. That said, I'd like for you to clarify how do you determine your " Wifi is just horribly slow"? Do you mean between your devices themselves, or to/from the Internet? I mean, you're not mentioning your Internet-connection speeds, so it could just simply be that your connection ain't good enough. Also, 4G does often have hickups, there's no getting around that. Also, what speed will that fiber-connection be? Your router only has 100Mbps ethernet-ports, including WAN, so if your fiber-connection will be faster than 100Mbps, you'll need to remember to specifically buy a router with a gigabit WAN-port.

i havent exactly used water coolers because i see no use for them. air coolers are usually way cheaper and very good even at low budget.  mean i am staying with the cooler master hyper 212 evo. but you need the black edition for am4 mother boards. thus i am having that one. but that one can be switched between lga 1151 or like i said am4. and i personally on my i5 7600 never seen it hit 60 degrees. only max 55 degrees. i would say that that is the best affordable air cooler. so i see no reason to use a water cooler. unless you really wanne run hot cpu's and oc them to the max. but that isnt needed at all in most cases.

yeah nvidia has the graphics department on lock but intel is slowly losing to amd more and more. i will definitely switch to a 3600x if those numbers are correct. It looks amazing. ill then just sell the 2600x for about 120.

oh lol the 2600x just litterally dropped in price to 195 from 220 i mean if thats not a sign that i should buy it or not..
