  1. Nice IP Address you have there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  2. Huh, it's actually SATA 3. Who'd have thought in this 8 year old laptop. I don't know why it says it's a Seagate drive. It's the only one I have connected, too. *shrugs*
  3. I never let it get more than half full, actually, for that very reason. Fast Boot? I don't got anything like that.
  4. I'm trying to breathe new life into my full sized laptop, and I can't tell right off the back if it uses SATA 2 or 3. I'm assuming SATA 2 because it's an HP Envy 17 from like 7 years ago. The current drive is some no-name drive I got from Best Buy.
  5. Well, if you're gifted at recognizing and removing malicious software manually, then you can live dangerously and just go with whatever your OS has by default, like Microsoft Security Essentials. But not having an antivirus at all is a terrible idea. Even people who just Facebook and Youtube can occasionally get nasty bits of software.
  6. This install of Windows is only a year old though, which shouldn't be a problem. I don't run a lot of stuff in the background and I'm always cleaning out junk files, I'm a real OCD nut about that kinda thing. I think it was just my fault picking out the cheapest drive at the time. It's a 500gb (actual size 465 (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) ) no-name company drive I got from Best Buy for like $45
  7. When I first got it though, you'd think it was the lowest tier SSD with how fast it was. It's just gotten so slow in the year and some change. Now, games take ages to load and the time from powered off to the Desktop being fully loaded can sometimes like 5 minutes.
  8. Try running Firefox in Safe Mode and see if that helps? I don't know about Edge, but if it has one then give it a whirl.
  9. Wow, the drive isn't even 2 years old and is already shitting the bed. And this was a good test, the other scans would have the average down in the 20's. I defragment weekly, and it doesn't have any bad sectors, but it apparently aged very poorly in the short time I've had it. I think it's time for my first SSD now >_>
  10. Well that's a very broad selection of hardware. What's the budget?
  11. Having the two fans will make a better cooling solution, but might be louder. And make sure you've got the headers for them.
  12. Maybe try using Firefox. I've got literally 300+ tabs open and it only eats up 600k-ish ram and barely pings my CPU. Chrome is shockingly horrible RAM-wise. Other than a terrible browser, 8gb is all you'll need as long as you're not doing video editing. Any more would get you no real benefit.
  13. It's testing for any physical problems with your drive.
  14. Yet companies still ship dead or dying drives. Can't tell you how many Toshiba drives I've owned, or people I know owned that shit the bed and died within a year. I had one arrive with dead sectors out of the box even.
  15. Don't worry about SMART just yet. When you download HD Tune just go to the Error Scan tab, make sure it's the right drive and run the test. Preferably not Quick Scan if you want a more thorough scan, but that can take a very long time. Any bad sectors will show up red. If all the little squares are green, then it's something else.
  16. Well I'll get the obvious questions out of the way and ask if the drive is heavily fragmented? Have you run scans with something like HD Tune? It can tell you pretty much anything that's wrong with your drive. It's not unheard of to have drives arrive with faulty parts.
  17. But it has more cores and a higher clock and cache, and reviewers say it's a fantastic CPU. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong, though. It just seemed like a very attractive and cheap CPU when I'd rather spend most of my budget on the 480 for $200
  18. In this video the guy uses this processor, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286&cm_re=amd_fx6300-_-19-113-286-_-Product with this board, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157582&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-TechSource Official-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=7899552&SID= Which happen to be the CPU and board I wanted in my small case. So unless he never actually made sure it worked, I'm just assuming everything will be fine...?
  19. Was trying to find a good i5 or even the cheapest i7 I could find, but my budget is very tight.
  20. Some 9 months ago now, my network icon in the lower-right has been glitched and always displays the same "LOL NO SIGNAL, SCRUB" symbol. Doesn't matter whether I'm using ethernet or wireless, or what ever the state is, it always displays that same symbol. I ran that system repair utility through command prompt, updated drivers (even rolled them back once) and just about every other scan I could and no answers. It's not worth a fresh Windows install over, and is purely cosmetic, but any ideas you guys?
  21. Here's the processor I was planning on using. I don't see whether it does or doesn't =/
