  1. Hello, I just bought a kingston a2000 PCIe m2 ssd. My motherboard is Gigabyte B460m Aorus Pro. The primary m2 slot has a heatsink of type 22110, but my SSD is of type 2280. I'm confused as to how to install the standoffs. Should I put a standoff in the 2280 slot first, screw in SSD, then put on heatsink and screw it in the 22110 slot?
  2. Hello, would the Asus Prime B460-Plus be a fine motherboard to use with the i5-10400F? My budget is a bit tight and this is the only motherboard that fits. I cannot find any reviews about it so I thought I should ask here. I cannot go ryzen because its more expensive and my RAM is 2666 mhz. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/PRIME/PRIME-B460-PLUS/
  3. Hello, a couple months ago, my PC got stuck at vga light on POST (no hardware changes), a hard restart made it boot. Over the next few days, the amount of restarts needed to make the PC POST increased and one day it wouldnt POST at all no matter how many restarts. So I shifted the GPU to the second pcie slot and it worked. I used it in the second slot for a month but I had to RMA my PSU last month. After I got my replacement PSU, I put the GPU in the first slot again. It worked fine for a day, but the next day PC got stuck on vga light on POST again. Same process repeated with it stopping working over time so I shifted my GPU to second slot again. I wanted to ask, why does it work at first and then die? If it is broken, shouldnt it never work? Also my motherboard is b360-f strix so my second slot runs at x4
  4. Issue: PC hard resets randomly. By hard reset I mean, suddenly, screen goes black and all lights and fans turn off, then after half a second then lights and fans turn on and the PC boots up. It started happening all of a sudden, I didn't change any hardware. I'd like to mention that when a hard resets happens, mostly the lights/fans turn on and turn off very quickly twice or thrice then they stay turned on for a while and pc boots, although sometimes they turn off and turn on once only. Frequency of occurring: It started last year in November I think, happened quite often then, like 5-6 times per day then in a week or two, it stopped happening. Then it started happening last month, same frequency, 5-6 times a day then stopped. Now it started happening again from this week with the same frequency, 5-6 times per day. Solutions I've tried: I have two RAM sticks, tried it with either RAM stick and the problem didn't go away. I connect my power strip to a voltage regulator which then connects to the wall socket. I tried connecting the power strip directly to the wall socket but the problem didn't go away. Disconnect the case's power button and using a metallic paper clip to turn on PC to see if it was a faulty power button but the problem didn't go away. Solutions I've been recommended: Someone told me they had hard resets and artifacting recently and it turned out it was their GPU but I don't have artifacting, only hard resets. RMA my PSU. Specs: i5-8400 CPU Gigabyte RX 580 GAMING 8GB Graphic Card Asus Strix B360-F Motherboard Corsair Vengeance 8gb 2666 mhz RAM ADATA 8gb 2666 mhz RAM Corsair RM750x PSU Please help, thank you.
  5. Do you have any idea how much would a repair cost? The PSU is a Corsair VS650. It is 4 years old so probably out of warranty as well. I was going to sell this system, should I just sell it without a PSU?
  6. Is there a chance it can cause damage to the hardware if I try to boot with this broken?
  7. How long should I let it dry for? @BlueChinchillaEatingDorito
  8. Hi, my keyboard (corsair strafe) is about 6 months old. Today, when I was cleaning my desk, a few drops of water accidently went inside the keyboard and the lights started blinking and the computer acted as if the alt key was being pressed. I unplugged it in 5 seconds after that happened. What are the steps I should be taking? The keyboard is not under warranty and I don't have the money to buy another one. Is there a possibility that the keyboard may have been permanently damaged and won't work again? Water has gone inside the keyboard quite a few times before but nothing happened then. It says spill-proof on the box so I thought it would not mind a couple drops of water. Thanks
  9. Are the higher tier PSUs more resistant to power surges/brownouts? I had a power surge to about 300V (it should be 220-240V in normal conditions) and it fried two of my ram slots so now I can only use my two sticks of ram in single channel. I have a corsair vs650 and I'm considering the RM750x. So I just wanted to ask that will a higher tier PSU protect my pc from a power surge?
  10. Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right subforum for this but I'm having bit of a problem with gta v. So it all yesterday two days when I updated my windows creator's update to the fall creator's update and updated my amd driver to the new adrenalin driver amd released. After the updates, I played gta v and it crashed quite a few times and randomly. First time it was after 30 minutes, I thought it was the new amd's driver so I DDUed and installed the previous amd driver I was using. Gta v crashed with that too, first time after 4 hours, then after 3 hours and after that in 15 minutes. So I reinstalled windows with the old creator's update I was using before updating to fall's creator update. That didnt help either as GTA crashed again within half an hour to 1 hour. Im going mad as I cant find out the culprit. I opened a ticket in rockstar support as well. Here's my windows event viewer and gta v's logs. Cheers
  11. It's the cpu bottleneck. CPU load remains the same across all resolutions whether it be 1080p or 4k, the CPU is whats stopping the PS4 Pro from reaching 60 fps in some games so lowering the resolution wont help.
  12. Yes amd latest drivers have lots of issues. Try downgrading to 17.5.2.
  13. Yes pubg eats up a lot of vram. My vram usage when playing pubg at 1080p is 5.5gb
  14. Hi, I had two power surges in the past two months. Each surge killed one ram slot in my pc so now I have a mobo with two dead ram slots. Now I can only use ram in single channel slots since other two are dead, i was thinking is there any way i could force those two slots to operate in dual channel?
  15. I have got these 70% isopropyl alcohol tissues, these are the best i could get. Would these be enough for cleaning off old thermal paste or should I use something else? And any other tips for someone installing a cpu heatsink for the first time?
  16. Link I wanted to ask is this cooler better than the cm hyper 212 evo? This looks the same as 212 evo but this has two fans. I wanna know if this one will perform better than the 212 evo or not?
  17. Hi, i have an i5-4690 (non k) cpu. I use the intel stock cooler but when i play cpu heavy games like gta v or battlefield 1, it reaches high temps like 81-85c max. I want to get a budget aftermarket cooler, so I searched and found the m9i. It seems like it would be good for me. Some people recommended me hyper 212 evo too but i read that cryorig m9i is a bit cheaper than 212 and m9i performs marginally better than the 212. Im going to be installing an air cooler first time so I'd like something thats easy to install. What do you people recommend?
  18. but if the sensor's busted wouldnt it send the wrong data to hwmonitor too?
  19. u see afterburner and gpu-z show 16% all the time whether im playing a game or its idling only hwmonitor shows the correct gpu load
