Dylanc431 got a reaction from XR6 in Sub 1000 Euro Gaming/Audio Production PC.
Still under a grand! and it matches the black theme I'm going for next (White stuff gets WAYYY TOO DIRTY)
Thanks for the suggestions!

Looks like people forgot that dead 1080tis are a thing. A perfectly good 1080ti wouldn't have to be sacrificed for this to be done.

I wasn't legitimately proposing this, it was just a little joke about how LTT like to take things and then do them on 10x the scale

This.
Mac's don't use the standard UEFI so a "Mac" GPU has a different BIOS that allows the boot-screen to appear. If you run a non Mac 970 on a Mac Pro, then it will work with the Nvidia drivers but you will not see boot screen.
Now is this GPU in the link a real Mac compatible GPU or is it false advertising? Idk. But OP you should do your research before jumping to conclusions. Right now you didn't verify what a Mac compatible GPU is. In the future it might be a costly mistake.

Someone should actually buy this card, stick it into a real apple, notice no improvement to both items, take a picture and call it BS.

Dylanc431 got a reaction from Shadestones in What Laptop to Buy?
I'll be honest, I really don't know myself, like, I tried an iMac, I tried 2 different generations of Macbook and I just couldn't work seamlessly with them, it could be that I'm just too ingrained in the windows ecosystem that my brain just can't deal with learning macOS

yeah, I get what you mean, and thanks for the suggestion,I just heard the word "Celeron" and died a little inside because I remembered how awful my parents' dell laptop is. Basically I just want the laptop for school work and playing CS, that's it really tbh. Audio programs aren't really too taxing on a system and CS would probably run on integrated GPU on low settings

the chromebook? It's massively below what I'm looking for and it's not windows based. I already have a gaming capable desktop at home, the reason I want some light gaming performance from the laptop is because I'll be away from home for most of the week and still wanna play some games in my free time

well, the amazon link is all but useless to me unfortunately, but that seems like a worthy competitor

yeah, there's a mac version of steam so of course they'd make one of their flagships compatible with it

to be honest, I couldn't tell you how well it runs on an i7, I know a friend of mine runs it at about 200fps on a 960m and an older gen i7 mobile chip
I also should have added that I really hate macs, I physically can't get my head around trying to use them, I tried for a month and just couldn't do it

So I recently got myself a Noctua NHU14S and I have to say, it's really impressed me so far, and you know, people said it it would be ugly, I disagree because if you shine enough RGB on anything it will eventually become beautiful:

If you shine a coloured light at something with enough brightness it will wash out all other colours.

Dylanc431 got a reaction from Vishvas Sudarshan in GPU Pricing is Officially Broken
And the fact that generally AMD cards are cheaper to buy new than NVidia cards, for example, you used to be able to get an RX480 (highest end RX card before the 580) for a little cheaper than the 1060 to get close in performance to it with an 8GB VRAM buffer, Crossfire 2 480's and you get enough power to match a GTX 1080 FE. Now think of a Mining rig with like 8 480 cards in it and you see the kind of power we have going on at a price that's much cheaper than doing the same with NVidia cards

Yeah, the 470's are at the price of 580's and above at this point which makes no sense to me whatsoever

I was reading an article that said there are people selling their RX 480s for more than they sold for new... That's crazy

Dylanc431 got a reaction from Technomancer__ in CMD window popping up and disappearing randomly
Hey! so, I've been having some strange goings-on lately with my main PC, it's running Windows 10 64 bit and I have auto update enabled so my PC is automatically on the latest version.
What's been happening recently is I've been having the command prompt window popping up and disappearing for split seconds at a time, it was a mild inconvenience at first and didn't really affect the PC much if at all but now it's getting to the point where my games are automatically minimizing without warning (they stay running, but I get plonked on the desktop with no context).
I know this command prompt thing is somewhat associated with Microsoft Office, and I got a long enough look at the command prompt window to see the file name that runs it but I can't for the life of me remember what the hell it was called, I'll update if/when I remember but right now I just need a way to stop it from crashing my stuff without warning...
Thanks in advance,
Any help is appreciated,
Dylan.
