I've only just got all my parts - there was quite a wait on the G1 distro block and also the PE (medium-thick) radiators. Currently I'm preparing the radiators and my vertical GPU mount for priming and painting, as I want them to be in white. Oh, and I now have a 3950X instead of the 3900X and 32GB of high speed memory.

Interestingly, I've been googling products on the Asus QVL and it seems none of my desired higher speed and lower latency RAM modules are available, or they only ship from the US, and I'm in the UK. Maybe I will just wait and hope that more become available as time passes and the AMD fast RAM market desire motivates manufacturers.

I'm planning my first water cooling build with hard line. Yes, I realise it's more difficult, but I have R/C model building experience and am somewhat mechanically handy so I reckon I can handle the extra difficulty. I'm also perfectly prepared to get a whole lot of bends wrong in the learning process. I have a few choices for this build, as it seems to me, and wondered what you guys would think. The PC: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Asus Crosshair VIII Formula motherboard, the one that comes with the EK block for VRM cooling. Asus RTX2070 Super OC Advanced. Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL Choice 1: Slim or medium thick radiators - either the EK SE 360 or the EK PE 360. I was planning to fit two of these. Given the above, I should have more than sufficient cooling capacity regardless of this choice. Choice 2: Put the above two radiators on air intake, one on the bottom of the case, one on the side. That would leave me with four exhaust fans, 1 rear and 3 top. All 120mm. I think this will be the more effective cooling solution as both radiators will ingest cool outside air. Choice 3: Use the EK G1 distribution block, putting that on the side. This would mean having one radiator on the bottom as intake, and one at the top as exhaust. I feel this will be the prettier option, but may have a small cooling performance penalty as already slightly warmed air will be exhausting through the top radiator.

I'm looking for some reasonably high performance RAM for my setup, which is currently: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Asus Crosshair VIII Formula motherboard Asus RTX2070 Super Advanced OC I'm keen on spending a decent amount of money, my budget is perhaps at the 75th percentile. Enough to get great performance without hitting the massive extra cost for that last little bit of performance. What should I go for? My build would look best with white RGB ram sticks, but I feel a bit lost really hence my post here.

Update: Having disabled the AMD RAID in the motherboard, and reinstalled windows to use 1 MP600 as the boot and system drive, and the other as D:\ drive, the locking up problem has gone away. It looks to me like the issue is either with the motherboard or with the raid drivers. Bah humbug. That took a lot of sorting out.

Yeah, I have three WD Black 6TB drives in my system, and although I can hear them, they aren't very loud.

Cheers for the recommendations. I tend to use robocopy cmd scripts. I've occasionally used Acronis True Image as it's free with the WD drives I've bought over the years, but yeah, mostly robocopy for data.

I shouldn't think I'm close to using all the PCI lanes - Zen 3 and X570 are noted for having plenty. It's probably something else.

Yep, I have the Asus windows AMD raid drivers installed. Also have latest BIOS on the motherboard, all windows updates, chipset drivers updated, etc. Tried clearing CMOS. No luck.

You want one of these card readers. They support UHS-I and UHS-II and are USB 3.1 gen 2. Afternoon all! I've a weird problem that is frustrating me, and I'm hoping that someone here will have an idea of what the problem might be. The essence of my problem is that I have two 1TB Corsair MP600s in RAID0 using AMD raid on my Asus Crosshair VIII Formula motherboard. This drive, my D: drive, will lock up the whole computer eventually with 100% active time. It will only do this when a significant amount of writing is done to the drive. My system boot drive is a Samsung 950Pro 512GB on a PCI card. Has anyone come across anything like this?

Yes, funnily enough it's fine with XMP in the BIOS enabled, but the software in Windows all still claims 2132MHz.

I have an Asus Maximus VIII Formula motherboard with i7 6700K overclocked installed, and 2 x 8GB sticks of DDR4 Corsair Dominator Platinum 3,000Mhz RAM. The BIOS thinks this is 2132Mhz RAM, and CPUID HWMonitor also reports it as this. Is this normal, or have I been sold fake RAM?

I have a Kraken X61. Were I to change the stock fans, I'd get black Noctua PWM ones.
