  1. I recommend Crysis 3 as the game sets the benchmark when it comes to graphics and the character models are the best I have seen in a game.
  2. If you plan to play games from trusted developers that optimize their games, you will be fine at ultra settings on a 1060. There aren't many games that push graphics as much as The Witcher 3 or Crysis 3 and there probably won't be until Cyberpunk 2077 or The Elder Scrolls VI.
  3. As others have said, the 1070 is a great card for 1080p at 144hz and if you plan to buy a virtual reality headset in the future, you will enjoy a smoother experience.
  4. I am waiting to see what games are offered first, besides the second generation of the consumer edition will be better. I like the ergonomic design of the Oculus Rift but if HTC Vive sign the better exclusives of the two, I will definitely consider the Vive over the Oculus Rift.

If there is a defect with the monitor, return it for a replacement model. Can you take a picture of the monitor?
  6. Depending on your budget, a 16:9 monitor is always the better choice if you want the best bang for your buck. The trouble with widescreen monitors is the lack of good low end monitors, you could buy a wide screen monitor only to experience ghosting and latency issues. For the same price, you could purchase a great 16:9 monitor with low latency and G-Sync for less than £500.
  7. Consider turning off ambient occlusion, that is known to impact performance quite a great deal in games. Other than that, set FXAA to medium since you do not need it on high if you are playing at 2560x1440.
  8. If you purchase from Steam, you are directly supporting the developer and the steam platform. If it is an early access title, you are paying towards the development cost of the game.
  9. Since you enjoy Half-Life 2 , you should try Dishonored as both games have the same art director and they share a similar art style. Insurgency is on sale now, it is a great military shooter if you are looking for a tactical FPS.
  10. It depends on your play style, do you spend time playing a variety of games or do you play one game competitively? There are many other military shooters on the PC and I highly recommend Insurgency if you enjoy the modern warfare setting with a tactical based approach.
  11. If you want a truly immersive and historically accurate World War I experience, you should try Verdun. Battlefield 1 is a casual game but it is good for what it is and if you enjoy it, that is great. I will definitely consider purchasing it once the initial reviews come out and I have the verdict on how much content is included with the price of the base game. It is a fun game for big battles but with Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord and Rising Storm: Vietnam on the horizon, I will wait to see the reviews on Battlefield 1 before purchasing it.
  12. If you can extend your budget, you should definitely go for a pair of Edifier headphones. https://www.amazon.de/EDIFIER-Studio-R1280T-Lautsprechersystem-Watt/dp/B00GBN50SC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472719480&sr=8-1&keywords=Edifier+Studio
  13. I found Star Wars: The Force Awakens to be better with a second viewing because I accepted it as an enjoyable film, however I don't think it is a masterpiece or as good as The Dark Knight or Blade Runner. I think you have a more realistic and grounded expectation when you view it the second time because you are not expecting it to exceed your expectations anymore.
  14. Thanks, I bought the laptop on eBay. The laptop is working great so far and it can even play The Witcher 3 at 1080p with the settings at medium. The most impressive feature for me is the display, the colour reproduction and the black levels really impress on this laptop. When I play older games, they look sharper than on my Dell S2716DG 27" monitor but that could be due to the larger scree size or the 109 PPI on the Dell Monitor.
  15. Add $49 dollars on your budget and go for a Full HD display with a dedicated Nvidia GPU, 1080p makes a huge difference. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-NVIDIA-Windows-E5-575G-53VG/dp/B01DT4A2R4/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1471935992&sr=1-1&keywords=Acer+aspire
  16. I received the Optimus VII this morning and the display shocked me by the colour reproduction and the deep blacks on the display. It far surpasses any TN panel I have seen, the viewing angles are excellent. Great specification for the price, I highly recommend PC Specialist for anyone that is looking for a good laptop at a competitive price.
  17. If you compare the price of the MSI laptop on Newegg to the prebuilt computer I saw at £599GBP/$776.50USD, it is over double the price. It is overkill for a gaming laptop unless you play The Witcher 3 or Crysis 3 99% of the time and even The Witcher 3 uses less than 2GB of VRAM on Ultra at 1080p. There are a huge percentage of people on Steam with low to mid range hardware, Nvidia are making a mistake by shutting the door on budget gamers unless they cram a 1050 in a laptop and price it at a competitive price. Edit: I just read that Nvidia are pushing 120hz screens on the new laptops, the 1060 makes sense in that case I don't think that it is great price-performance ratio at $1799.99, I think $1300-1500 is competitive pricing. However, Nvidia won't have any competition for a couple of months and there will always be a few gaming enthusiasts that will break the bank for one of the first 120hz G-Sync gaming laptops.
  18. If Nvidia are charging 5 times the price of the Desktop GPU, they are neglecting a huge amount of budget gamers and it could potentially have a negative effect on sales. Many people may opt for a desktop GPU in a smaller form factor case, I recently saw a deal on a prebuilt computer with a Thermaltake CoreV21 Case, an I5-6500 and a GTX 1060 6GB for £599.
  19. Just checking out eBay, there are a few good deals and a ton of cheaper gaming laptops. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC-Specialist-Optimus-VII-N150RD-Intel-i7-6700HQ-15-6-Gaming-Laptop-8GB-1TB-/252395656683?hash=item3ac3f415eb:g:s0UAAOSwdWBXPdqb Good specs for the money and I could upgrade it to an SSD, the youtube review states that it has great colour reproduction and deep blacks.
  20. That is true, I was considering waiting for Pascal but I couldn't justify spending £1300-1500 just to enjoy on the go when the desktop equivalent can be bought for a couple of hundred pounds.
  21. Decent value for the specs, mate, cheers. Display is an important factor for me as when I am at home, I use a Dell S2716DG for fast paced games and an OLED for casual gaming, is the Cosmos series a decent display for the money? I bought a cheap Lenovo Ideapad 100 on sale, it runs RTS and MOBA games but the TN colour shift and the 768p can be difficult on the eyes.
  22. The Dell XPS 15 is almost double the price, I would prefer to spend that money on desktop upgrades. I'm in the market for a laptop without breaking the bank, I suspect that there will be a few more clearance sales on GTX 900m series equipped laptops with the news on the Pascal mobility line-up.
  23. I am considering a laptop that will provide long lasting battery with the ability to perform well in mid-range games, I want to play Rainbow Six Siege, Payday 2, Warframe, Insurgency and CS:GO at 1080p. What would be the best laptop? I considered this laptop due to the design and weight but in the reviews, there were a few negative ones regarding the TN screen. http://www.ebuyer.com/737629-asus-k501ux-laptop-k501ux-dm100t
  24. The Bitfenix prodigy m is a very nice looking case and that is one of the appealing points, I am curious as to how it directly competes with the Thermaltake Core V21. How is cable management inside the case?
  25. I was considering that but I have already built the Micro-ATX build and it is currently in a Fractal Core Design 1000 which isn't an ideal case in terms of durability and portability, I could assemble a new mini-ITX build but the cost would outweigh buying a new Micro-ATX case and PSU.
