  1. For online shooters, TOXIKK and Reflex are relatively new games that are run and gun multiplayer arena FPS games. I think a top ten list of each specific sub genre in the FPS would be a better idea as it would be easier to manage. For example, a top ten list of story-driven FPS games, a top ten list of military FPS games and a top ten list of run and gun FPS games, etc.
  2. That is running with 2x MSAA enabled and ambient occlusion set to high, the 750TI is more than capable of reaching 60fps in 1080p at high settings if you turn off a few of the demanding options.
  3. Many people are experiencing bugs and errors with the latest Pascal cards and the latest drivers. The specification requirements were advertised as much lower in the pre-release marketing and many people thought it would be optimized for the PC, the opposite is true.
  4. The release of the GTX 1050 Ti is coming this month and it will be a contender for the RX 480, wait for it if you can.
  5. Grand Theft Auto 5 can be very taxing with MSAA and ambient occlusion at to the highest. http://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/1909-gta-v-graphics-optimization-guide
  6. The Pentium G3258 will be a bottleneck in any games that are CPU intensive, I wouldn't stretch your budget for a mid range card until you upgrade the CPU first. The G3258 overclocked will give you good single threaded performance but in games that use multiple threads, you will see huge bottlenecks. It depends on the type of games you play but many modern and upcoming titles will require more than a dual core CPU.
  7. I used to own a Qnix Q2710 PLS panel and it was a great monitor but it did suffer from IPS glow and backlight bleed but that was to be expected at the price point, it offered great value for money at the time of purchase.
  8. Thanks for the information, the thread was very informative.
  9. Crysis 3 is still one of the most graphically intensive games, it is very demanding in 4K. http://www.anandtech.com/show/10325/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-and-1070-founders-edition-review/23
  10. I have never seen that defect before, did it occur on another Benq monitor? I wonder if the lack of durability is a common problem with Benq monitors. I have a Benq GW2270 and the screen surface is very soft, I suspect you might have a similar coating on your monitor.
  11. If you are planning to use it for gaming, the Dell is the better option due to the faster response time of 5ms.
  12. The 980TI is a great card and it will be a viable choice for a couple of years to come unless you plan on achieving 4K at 60fps with the latest titles or supersampling in Virtual Reality.
  13. Thanks for the images, I can definitely notice a significant difference, even though I am only viewing the images on a TN panel. I agree, considering a high-end OLED with HDR 10 and 4K isn't much more than a high end Samsung LED set, the OLED is a clear winner if you are purchasing a home entertainment set. I understand that LED televisions have an easier time of achieving a peak nit brightness but the contrast ratio and black depth on an OLED can't be beaten. IPS LED is the choice of technology for gaming with the Samsung KS9000 hitting 21.2ms in responsiveness, although that is only an important factor if you hook your PC up to your TV or play a console. I suspect that the current supply of LED HDR televisions will be focusing on appealing to Xbox one S owners and the demand for LED could continue for many years due to the high prices of OLED technology.
  14. I am interested to see how much of a difference HDR-10 makes versus content without HDR-10 enabled, HDR could be a real game changer in the television industry.
  15. The Asus K501LX-EB71, it is very light and a good hybrid laptop for light gaming.
  16. For speakers, the Edifier R1700BT are typically regarded as a great set of speakers if you are on a budget. For the monitor, that depends on personal preference, some people prefer TN due to gaming responsiveness and some people prefer IPS for viewing angles and better colour reproduction and a wider gamut. IPS monitors can suffer from IPS glow and TN can suffer from washed out colours, every type of technology has pros and cons until OLED monitors are released and even OLED technology can have drawbacks. VA panels are typically good for contrast ratio and producing deep blacks if you intend to use the monitor for multimedia purposes but it depends on your preference. Personally, I use the Dell S2716DG monitor due to the responsiveness and G-Sync capability and for the price, it offers excellent value and a 1070 will handle any game well with G-Sync.
  17. It is Codemasters publisher weekend on Steam, there are many good racing titles on sale. DiRT Rally is half price and that is by far the most immersive racing game I have ever played, it does take time to learn but each car handles differently and when you improve, you feel a sense of reward. Grid 2 is another good racing game from Codemasters if you enjoy the arcade genre of racing, you would easily achieve over a hundred frames per second with your rig.

    F.E.A.R.

The enemy artificial intelligence in F.E.A.R was incredible, I only played the game a few years ago and it definitely holds up well today in that regard. Incredible first person shooter that had a deep and engaging story line and atmosphere, I really enjoyed the first game. I did play through the second but I didn't find it as good because it felt more suited to a console, the game wasn't as challenging as the first one either.
  19. It really depends on what you are looking for in regards to budget, cooling, size and appearance. I would recommend looking at a full ATX case for your first gaming computer as it will provide you with adequate space for upgrades.
  20. - Customization - Backwards compatibility - Open source games - Greater support for independent video game development - The modding community I think that there is a much greater variety of games on PC and there are genres that can not be implemented well on the console, there are great titles on console but the majority of games that sell are the yearly releases of Fifa or Call of Duty. I enjoyed a few Japanese titles in the PlayStation 2 era but after that, I just found myself more interested in PC gaming as console gaming became more mainstream and catered towards the big budget developers more and more.
  21. If you can stretch your budget, the GTX 1050 will release later this year with and it will be more future-proof with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM with DX12 support. Many of the latest titles are recommending 4GB of VRAM as the recommended specifications but you can still achieve playable frame rates on medium settings with a 750TI.

    Paladins

I am enjoying Paladins, I haven't played Overwatch but Paladins has been in development for a long time and it will improve over the next few months.
  23. If you have played Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, it is very similar with a few differences to that game. There isn't a nemesis system in Mad Max and the gameplay isn't as deep but the overall atmosphere captures the Mad Max universe well. What type of game are you looking for? If you are looking for an open world third person game, any of the games published by Warner bros. are decent games.
  24. 2K didn't have to port it to PC at all, I could understand the negative reviews if 2K put a price tag on it and labelled it "Bioshock: The Definitive Edition" but this is a free upgrade. I agree that they could have released it as a patch for the original game, they could have delayed the remaster on PC to fix the bugs and added a price tag for the extra work. I'm not a huge fan of the Bioshock series but I am a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, I hope that the Skyrim remaster will be better in October.
  25. It is a great game that I have owned in early access for a long time, it is good to see that the player count has gone up since the free-to-play release. If the developers had the funds to market the product, it could definitely gain a larger player base. http://steamcharts.com/app/324810 It is similar to Verdun, a great game without the marketing behind it. People would rather spend much more on CS:GO skins or Battlefield One because of popularity and marketing.
