  1. actually xp was MUCH better than vista. at least with xp i didnt have to reset my OS every 4 months. god that crap got annoying really quickly.
  2. I got the issue solved. It was my cpu fans that were at 100% downloaded and installed the AI suite then adjusted the fans that way. Im not sure what was going on with the bios but it just wouldn't drop the fan speeds at all. Thank you for your help though. I was so irritated i couldn't even think straight.
  3. No, I have reset the mobo back to defaults but the fan speeds are staying ramped all the way up, right now CPU temps are at 28c thanks to the 100% fan speeds. its nice and all but i cant hear myself think at all lmao. I am installing the AI suite now to see if i can lower it that way.
  4. I recently used the Extreme OC on the crosshair v formua z. Fact is is it did absolutely nothing to my 6300FX. Now no matter what even after resetting the bios that fan speed automatically ramps up to 100% after post and will not chill tf out. I do not have the AI suite installed, nor do I have any other fan controlling software installed. Please help with this issue, the noise is driving up a gd wall.
  5. In all honesty the choice is yours. I depends on if you want upgradeability or(which you will already be at the cap with 16gb) or you want speed. Generally speaking running with lower chips spread across more sockets will get you better speed out of the RAM. I ran a mismatched set of chips in 2 1/2 for the longest time. I did everything completely wrong when it comes to ram, they were all different freq's, capacities, and timings, while only running 3 chips. The computer proudly chugged along for about 4 years before my cpu bit the dust. Its alost easier on the board if you go 4 x 4 due the the decrease of voltage on the individual sockets on the board.
  6. check the connection on your motherboard where your power connectors are. It's possible that your reset switch is not securely mounted on the pins. I have had that happen to me and it took me about 3 days to figure it out after i started to disasemble the whole computer i spotted it.
  7. Can you try running both monitors through DVI? Also try reseating your graphics card. Just pull it out and blow the socket out with a can of compressed air then pop it back in. The issue is either the port is getting dust in it somehow, or the difference between having to pump out a 60 and seperate 144hz signal off the same card. If you can get both of them to run at the same speed.
  8. Does it sound more of a rumble sound or more of a spark sound. It can mean two very different things. Do you have another hard drive that you can test in the machine? or do you have a way of testing that hard drive in another machine?
  9. I had the same issue, turns out 1 of my sticks were dead, and the first DIMM slot was dead. That will be your best bet on fixing the issue.
  10. reseat your RAM and make sure all of your power cords are connected properly. Mine would randomly switch off on me too, then i relized that I had a new 4pin cpu connector above my northbridge (it was my first gaming board cut me some slack :P) As for the discoloration... I could be an issue with your RAM try reseating it, if that does not work then try running just with the 2 x 8 solution if the problem still occurs try testing each ram stick individually. either the problem with clear up if it is the ram, but if it is not. Then it is your GPU and youre going to have to contact who you bought it from and get a new one.
  11. Yeah, sounds like its dead. Dealing with a customer once I had a drive that was only reading 2048mb total capacity on a 1tb drive. Any signs of your disk space being shorted or clicking in the drive is a sign that it is either already dead, or is about to kick the bucket.
  12. At this point i believe the installation you have is corrupted. The best course of action is going to be to boot into your "boot menu" again if you have bootable media, select your device and run it again. It's a very small chance but it is possible that the recovery partition has already been created on your system. If you shut it down by holding the button and start it up again, It's possible it might boot into recovery mode and repair itself. Doing it that way is like playing the lottery though.
  13. as far as the little spurt with the flashing of lights and the fan apin, it is common in some of the *slightly* older motherboards. It's just the power being transferred from the bios to the rest of the components in the case. It usually happens if you have a very old piece of hardware mixed in with much newer hardware in your system.
  14. It sounds like an issue with your overclock. It's possible that the system isn't letting go of the voltage increase when it shuts off the power to the mobo. I would start by clearing your CMOS. I ran into the same issue about a month ago while OC'ing my 6350. Resetting the BIOS worked for me, I would just be careful not to push it any further then you need to as you can potentially short out your board or worse, your components.
