This is garbage advise. Zen 2 is slow as dirt compared to zen 3 and not even much cheaper.

Get a 5600 for $129 and be done
That MOBO/GPU of yours isn't really 5800x3d worthy imo, the extra would be better spent just getting a better gpu

I play at 1440p, not 4K. Just too old to want to deal with stutter or low fps. I just want to have the best experience. If the 6900XT is enough for now, I'll stay with it. Maybe I'll OC it. Thanks.

Even at 4K the 6900 XT is fully livable. Waiting a generation is going to be the best call either way unless you score a deal on a 7900 XTX or a 4080/4090.

I just ordered the RX6800XT for $669 on Amazon. Should last me a two to three years. Got my RTX2070 in Feburary of 2019 and it served me well. Hope this does as well.

Technically ram clocked around 3600/3800 cl14 or cl16 would be around the top performance wise for Zen 2, but 3200 cl14 or cl16 will give you almost the same performance so it isn't worth spending extra unless you need that 0.1%. Do note that some Zen 2 infinity fabric doesn't like running over 1800, and you want 1:1 with your base mem clock so going above 3600 (1800 memclk doubled) probably isn't worth the tuning headache. There are a handful of reasons to run higher speed ram out of sync, but that's more of a memory benchmarking thing mostly from my knowledge.
In terms of 32 GB being worthwhile, technically it is better than 16 GB performance wise due to running 2 memory ranks per channel (single rank 16 GB sticks not withstanding). There is a noticeable performance difference in some tasks that benefit from more memory bandwidth. Depending on your usage you probably won't find yourself using all 32 GB on the 12 core, so it's more about bandwidth than quantity. Personally I've used most of my 32 GB on the 16 core when running some BOINC projects with SMT on

I sent my Ryzen Mobo off to RMA-land and while it was gone I reinstalled my old I7-6700K to use in the meantime and it wouldn't boot. I had to reinstall Windows from scratch. The New RMA's Mobo is on its way and I would hate to have to reinstall Windows again. Any tips on how to swap the mobo and not have to reinstall windows?

Yes, you can first install Debian with your choice of GUI, and then add proxmox to it. I did this for about 2-3 years on a workstation - Debian/Proxmox booted, I logged into the local GUI, launched a browser, and from there I started whichever VM(s) I wanted. The only difference between what I did and what you are asking, is that I used SPICE to create a virtual GPU for the VM, and to display it fullscreen, all with just the integrated graphics. I think you want to assign a GPU to the VM, and then swap your monitor's input from the iGPU (with the Debian/Proxmox/Browser) to the GPU assigned to the VM. This should work well enough.

If your installing a custom rom, you will root it after you install the rom via twrp
If you plan on using the play store, you will want to root with magisk instead. Supports Android 10
If you don't plan on using google apps supersu is fine, I think they actually moved it to somewhere in the settings manager.

It does have secure boot. I am disabling it.
So, if I install linux and dual boot and decide to revert, do I use partition magic and just delete the linux partition and move it back into the windows partition?
What do you think of dual boot?

@DilbertOfTheHood I'm not super familiar with your bios settings, but I think your DRAM voltage is too low-- mine wants either 1.5 or 1.65 depending on which brand of memory I use. Your sticks probably say on them what their XMP profile timings and desired voltage is. However, before doing that, I'd swap sticks to see if it's the sticks themselves or a specific slot or the IMC on the chip. Also go down to 3 sticks that seem to work well, then play swap the stick. The IMCs of these chips don't always like to be fully populated-- I get a stick missing error if I try to OC the memory above 2000mhz (1600 is the XMP). The IMC benefits from additional CPU/VTT voltage or whatever the applicable setting is in bios.
Otherwise, I'd up your QPI speed if you can, as that is the speed between CPU and Chipset. More faster more better, especially if you won't be raising it via BCLK tweaking.
Hopefully someone with more direct experience with your motherboard can chime in-- if you haven't, can you pull up and link the motherboard manual? That should explain better how to tweak stuff.
GENERAL X58 OVERCLOCKING INFORMATION FOLLOWS
This is my bios, which has different names for things. But, here's the gist of what does what. If you don't have a multiplier you probably have a frequency knob to tweak. The voltages here are what I needed to stabilize a 4.7GHz OC. I noticed zero performance difference from 4.5GHz, so decided to leave the voltage where it was for safety margin.
Multipliers/Frequencies:
CPU Clock Ratio: Multiplier. CPU Freq = Max Mult * BCLK
QPI clock ratio: defines speed of communication link between CPU and Chipset, and other things. Set to be ~2x Uncore, either in ratio or frequency form depending on the knob you have available. QPI Freq = Mult * BCLK.
Uncore: set to roughly double your memory multiplier or frequency. This is the most critical for snappy performance on X58, as the uncore does all the behind the scenes stuff in the chip (cache speeds, transfer speeds, etc). It starts going haywire around 4000 MHz. Uncore Freq = Mult * BCLK.
BCLK: speed that the CPU communicates with stuff like memory controller and uncore. This is how you speed up uncore most directly. Everything is a function of this.
Memory multiplier: Mem Frequency = Mem Mult * BCLK.
XMP: if you want, also lets you tweak stuff for memory timing.
TL;DR, everything is a function of BCLK and a multiplier. You may or may not be able to explicitly define the multiplier, but if you can define or set a frequency, you're doing the exact same thing. That is why fast BCLK is better than high CPU multiplier, all else equal-- BCLK speeds up clocks/sec, CPU mult only speeds up calcs per clock.
Don't tweak anything else unless you really understand what's doing what. I don't, so I don't mess with the other settings.
Voltages:
Load line calibration: can help stabilize crazy OCs by limiting voltage and current fluctuations. Do some google.
CPU Vcore: stabilizes multiplier-based CPU Frequency OC. <-- don't exceed 1.4 V as a general rule.
QPI/VTT Voltage: Stabilizes BCLK OC and associated bits (Uncore, QPI, Memory Controller frequency) <-- this is the key knob, don't exceed 1.35 V as a general rule.
CPU PLL: can stabilize OCs, don't mess with it unless you're going for all the GHz.
PCIE: don't mess with it unless you tweak PCIe frequency, which you shouldn't.
QPI PLL: same; don't mess with it at reasonable OC levels, but can stabilize at high speeds.
IOH/ICH stuff: This is the chipset voltage. More can stabilize, likely is NOT needed.
DRAM Voltage: this is the voltage for your RAMs. Set to whatever the kit expects, tweak if you're going for high memory OCs and you've hit the QPI/VTT voltage wall. <-- this is the third knob you need to tweak
Super TLDR
Frequency knobs to tweak: read the above, it's not simple. Frequency = Multiplier * BCLK.
Voltage knobs to tweak: QPI/VTT up to 1.35 (for BCLK, IMC, Uncore, QPI), CPU Vcore up to 1.4 (for CPU Mult), DRAM to 1.5 or 1.65 or whatever your kit says (for DRAM).

It won't come anywhere near a 6600K in gaming. The IPC is way lower on those Xeons. I did extensive benchmarking a little while ago. Let me try to paste a comparison between a 6700K and a X5690. It was a pretty good bunch of benchmarks. I did a lot of testing with a lot of CPU/GPU combos and overclocking. The Xeons are barely half as fast as the Skylake CPUs in single core operations.

Even if it sad to leave this great community it is time to move on. X58 is a great platform in many aspects especially price-performance even in modern time. Unfortunately computers are not wine and classic cars. They do not get better with age nor they become vintage (except the really high end, limited edition parts as collection items)
So I moved to 8700k on z170 board topped up with 32 gb of ram and gtx1080ti.
The biggest problem was legacy of x58) my samsung 950pro was set up to be compatible with legacy bios, however nvme drives have to be set up differently for modern platform. It took me a little while to figure it all out, but at the end its all up and running with my old windows.

My X5690 is overclocked to 4.5Ghz and with a GTX 1060 3GB it runs most 1080p games at 60FPS with no issues. I do have it watercooler though. 3GB is all you need for 1080p unless there are huge textures. Wish I had the 6GB version.

I am actually tempted, but I honestly have nothing to do with it that would be useful. It's just cool! I barely use my current X5690. I installed Linux on it to see how it games. So far, Battle eye does not run in Proton/Steam for linux, so no Planetside 2
