    as mentioned above rtings is a good review site to look for displays.

    At 10-11 feet viewing distance, 65" is the smallest u'd want. I'd recommend going bigger though, perhaps 75".

    TV use viewing distance = 1.5x to 2x diagonal size.
    PC use viewing distance = 1.25x diagonal size.
    Gaming use view distance = 1.5x diagonal size.

    Gaming is dependent on the type of game. You wouldnt want to be sitting at the highest TV viewing distance playing a RTS, but a RPG and to some degree FPS, is doable.

    So at 65" the following view distances would be around...

    TV = 8.1 to 10.8 feet
    PC = 6.7 feet
    Gaming = 8.1 feet

    So if u cant change ur seating position depending on what ur doing u'd do well to go bigger than 65".

    75" for example

    TV = 9.4 to 12.5 feet
    PC = 7.8 feet
    gaming = 9.4 feet

    Being that u say u'd be sitting between 10 and 11 feet away, thats closer to 75" territory for Gaming and normal TV use.

    Go to rtings.com and read reviews.
    Get something with less than 30ms input lag if you're using it for gaming.

    Krik00 got a reaction from Corvus___ in 3x 120mm or 2x 140mm fans
    Hmm, let's run the numbers than, shall we?

    As for the surface area:
    Triple 120 mm = S1  = 3 x (120 x 10-3 m)2 = 0.0432 m2 = 43 200 mm2 [= 100%]
    Dual 140 mm = S2  = 2 x (140 x 10-3 m)2 = 0.0392 m2 = 39 200 mm2 [≈ 90.74%]
    S1 > S2
    Triple 120 mm > Dual 140 mm
    So, triple 120 mm have 40 cm2 bigger surface area, so in theory they should be more efficient.

    However, the price is a different story. Say, we will consider price of Corsair ML120 and Corsair ML140.
    ML120 costs 21.90€ (≈ $25.45) and ML140 costs 23.90€ (≈ $27.77).
    If you'd buy:
    Triple 120 mm = 21.90€ x 3 = 65.70€ (≈ $76.34) [= 100%]
    Dual 140 mm = 23.90€ x 2 = 47.80€ (≈ $55.54) [≈ 72.75%]
    65.70€ (≈ $76.34) > 47.80€ (≈ $55.54)
    Triple 120 mm > Dual 140 mm
    So, you will pay (≈ $20.80) 17.90€ more for triple 120 mm, making them more expensive.

    Now let's count the ratio of those two:
    Triple 120 mm = 43 200 mm2 / 65.70€ ≈ 657.5 ≈ 6.58 cm2 per 1€ (5.66 cm2 per 1$) [≈ 80.17%]
    Dual 140 mm = 39 200 mm2 / 47.80€ ≈ 820.0 ≈ 8.20 cm2 per 1€ (7.06 cm2 per 1$) [= 100%]
    Triple 120 have ± 10% bigger area, but they cost ± 27% more. Combined, you will pay ± 20% more per cm2.

    To conclude, their cooling potential is better, but it is does cost more, making them not worth.

    //PS. Hopefully it is mistake-free.
    //PPS. Remember that this is only on paper. Real world results may differ.

    Krik00 reacted to loculus in 3x 120mm or 2x 140mm fans
    If it's a more restrictive front then generally the 3x 120 mm should probably be slightly better. The 140 mm models tend not to have as good static pressure—to be a little more accurate, more dropoff in airflow when facing restriction as you can see on a P-Q curve—though this will obviously depend on the models and design. The CFM in free air, even if it is an accurate figure (most brands do not give accurate and consistently comparable figures), is not going to be directly applicable when fans are mounted in a case.

    Keep in mind that the actual area covered by 2x 140 mm fans is not far from 3x 120 mm fans because you're looking at length x width so the dimension is squared. Obviously you need to account for the fan hub, the fact that the actual area is more like circles or a doughnut than a square, etc. but anyway it comes out relatively similarly.

    A completely mesh, open front with decent front-to-back case airflow, and this looks more like a tossup.

    Give yourself some head room in case you want to get a GPU eventually. I would get a SFX 450w to be safe.

    Krik00 reacted to matt0725 in Psu calculator and using a brick
    as a power supply ages, it has less and less wattage available. We're not talking hundreds of watts or anything, but if you don't give yourself much headroom, and add on a few devices (sound card, GPU, more drives, etc) you could suddenly be overdrawing the PSU.

    I'd go up a little wattage wise to be sure.

    Hey guys.

    I need a peace of advise and some additional information. Bought 1440p 144Hz Monitor, but need a stronger graphics card since the 970 won't do 100+ FPS in most games at that resolution and upgrading to 1080 is near. However when I am at it, I was thinking of buying a new system (current one in the description) and I am wondering whether to buy Ryzen 5 1600 or  i7-8700. I don't need a K version cuz that means a lot of extra expenses such as overclocking PSU, Motherboard, cooler and the price  just gets greater and greater.

    My question is, do you think if the i7-8700 is going to be worth it as I lack information about it.

    Thank you in advance.

    when there is only one drive inside the laptop, make a for example 100 gig partition for the os, use the rest for data/games etc... so when a fresh install is needed, the data stays on the second partition (if put there) and no worries losing data then.
