  1. Thanks for the answer but I'm sure it's not the mouse's problem since: A. the same happens with other wired mice B. I've tested the mouse on another PC and it works just fine
  2. Hi everybody! Here is the issue I've been having: The PC in my parents' house all of a sudden started having problems with the mouse cursor. More specifically the cursor moves in almost a zig-zag motion when you try to follow a straight line..it also moves much slower than before (I needed to up the dpi level quite higher than before). The problem is so bad that the pc is unusable! After testing I realised this only happens with wired mice no matter which usb port I choose to connect them to (I already checked the mice and they're fully working on other PCs). I tried reinstalling drivers even a fresh windows 10 installation but no luck! My wired mouse used to work just fine with the same OS and hardware..I'm afraid the problem lies in some hardware (I'd say cpu or motherboard) defect! The PC is quite old with a modded lga 775 mobo and an E5450 Xeon (custom latest bios) and a gtx 760 This however shouldnt be a problem since like I said it used to work just fine even in windows 10! Any ideas would be much appreciated! I would really like to avoid upgrading the platform till a few years down the line.. Thanks in advance! PS. For now I've resorted to using a wireless mouse wich seems to work fine but it's of much lower quality than my wired one
  3. Hi guys..here are my PC specs: CPU: Corei5 2310 Mobo: Asus P8H61-M LE Cooler: Zalman CNPS90F (only has 3pin voltage cntrl header but mobo only controls speed with 4pin pwms so its always at full speed) The weird thing i noticed using temperature monitoring software like speedfan is that while the core temps are normal (sitting between 30-45 C idle) the CPU package temp is extremely hot reaching 90-95 C (also idle) Im certain the cooler installation was correct and the air exhausted out the back is cool so I dont think the CPU is actually overheating Can it be a problem with the motherboard thermal sensor..if so will i be able to control a 4pin pwm cooler? Thanks for reading
  4. Lol I guess it seems like a good deal to me because the gigabyte 990fxa mobo still costs around 150 euros here in Greece (being a great chip set and all) while the 8350 is well over 100 costing 160-170 like I said though I dont think it is worth it buying the set new.. Anyway I can always get the extra ram for my personal rig since its exacly the type and freq I need Thanks very much for all your fast responces..it really helped me get some things staight (although i still need to talk to my cousin for a final decision) Ps:the used market here is in a bad shape plus since its not for me I would wanna be extra sure everything works like new and includes a decent warranty
  5. Thanks for the reply guys I would persume the target FPS would be 50-60 (with something like a used gtx 950 for 100) with medium-high settings To be honest Im not sure if she WILL play a cpu intensive title although I would want her to have that choice should she decide to.. Im just a little confused right now cause I know the i5 is considerably better but I also believe that for a budget of 200 the 8350 set is a no-brainer I guess the best thing to do right now is talk with her to figure out what she is willing to pay (since my friend told me there is no rush in selling his stuff) If I go with an i5 I would also consider spending extra for the graphics (maybe a used 290 for 170-180) to ballance things out but Again im not sure if she will eventually use the system for more demanding games (she's currently playing LoL ) About the i5 set: yep the mobo is good enough (chipset-wise) but it will lack expanability (less pcie, usb ports)..not a serious prob though
  6. I agree..if the difference is that high a 480 will be just fine (considering some settings would be set to high instead of ultra and antialiasing would not be a necessity) Also I understand you may not want to but you could also consider finding a used 980 or something like that (i recently got one for 300 euros)
  7. Hi guys..My cousin recently decided to get a new PC (mainly for every day use and occasional gaming) so I told her I would help her choose the parts and build it. Meanwhile a friend of mine is selling his AM3+ platform (8350,990fxa gigabyte mobo,2x4gb hyperx ram) for 200 euros (they cost 350 new although I dont think they are worth that much nowadays) Anyway the thing is that the parts are like new and im 100% sure no oc has been applied ever (they are not even a year old so there is still a warranty). My only concerns are : 1) Is the 8350 able to handle todays games with such a low single core performance? Will it be able to handle future titles? Will the 8 cores (4 modules) be utilized properly? 2)My cousin has already a PC with an i5 2310 sandy bridge which will be given to her dad..will she notice a downgrade in performance? (fyi she doesnt use editing software) 3)I was ready to search for skylake i5 6500 combos (costing around 300+ with a cheap..ish microATX board)would it be worth the extra cash? Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading..
  8. I think that's the safest thing to do since it would be a shame to void my warranty because of my ocd Thanks for the answer
  9. Hi guys..I just got a used gtx980 strix (with 2 years of warranty) and it really bugs me that the fans have red stickers on them (first world problems :P) I know its a stupid question but would it void my warranty if I removed them? Thanks for bearing with this silly post
  10. Actually I will ask him where he lives in case Im near him (I do live in the 2nd biggest city of Greece :P) Anyways thanks for the response I appreciate it
  11. Hi guys..first time in the forum I just recently started looking for used gpus and found a gtx 760 for 100€ which has now come down to 80€… The thing is that the card is out of warranty (obviously since its old)so I'm not super confident with getting it..BTW 80€ is a great price in Greece right now (950 are 150-160 and 2gb 960 are 180) Is there something i should look for when searching for used gpus or anything i could ask the seller?? Thanks 4 reading
