  1. If your PC helps you make money, GET THE ABSOLUTE BEST NOW. If not, GET THE ABSOLUTE BEST NOW and make more money elsewhere. Nuff said. ....Or ignore that, be frugal and follow your first suggestion
  2. OK. Cool. I think I understand what you mean by having two monitors at 24 inches vs one at 29. That gives a lot of room. And yes I plan on doing only 1080p. Thanks.
  3. ---- THE CHALLENGE : I need advice on what kind of monitor would serve me better for video editing. --- --- THE CONTEXT: My current monitor just finished its duties and proceeded to die. My attempts at reviving it only led to me destroying it more. I mainly used it for video editing for fun, coding wordpress themes and a tad photo editing. --- --- THE WAY FORWARD: Ok, so I plan on going super Ham on video editing and youtube Near the end of next month and alas, my monitor dying has given me a reason to upgrade. I have zero experience with 1080p. Monitor was 1680 x1050. And 0 with Ultra wide as well , but have used multi monitor setups for two years now. My Budget is 200$ to 300$. Within that range I can buy either a 34in monitor with 1080p or an ultra wide UHD 29inch monitor --- ----- THE QUESTION: Is it better to have a wider screen real estate or more pixels but smaller screen at this price range? Thanks. -----
  4. ok. Check this out. Assuming you are into IT. Then that means you probably invest a good portion of your wages to tech. Lets say 10%. So 10% of 1600 = 160$. Assuming you upgrade your laptop every two years then you can technically afford a (160$ x 12months x 2years) = 3840$ System every two years. Just to be clear, that affords you a; 1. 6 Core Desktop + Monitor and peripherals = 1200$ + 400$ 2. Super powerful laptop = 1600$ 3. Ultra Powerful Phone = 400$ 4. And 240$ left over for whatever you want. And this doesn't even consider that you might sell your old tech before moving on. If you sell your old tech at 50% of its price you are left with 2160 Dollars. Dude, your a super rich power it person at this point. Meaning you can always be on the Razor's Edge (Pun Intended) of tech pretty reliably. But hey, that's just a theory. Tell me if that helps.
  5. OK. So Nvidia and AMD have just released their new lines of Graphics cards, Pascal and Polaris. Both of which provide huge leaps in performance and efficiency. BUT: The MSRP for these cards is 50 to 100 $ lower than the prices they are actually being sold at. QNS; 1. Why are these cards so expensive right now? 2. How long before the prices normalise? (A.K.A When will an RX480 actually be 200$) 3. Have you bought a Polaris or Pascal card for Desktop / Laptop?
  6. Ok. I guess I will wait a few months for its features to get rounded out. If I steam that thing now, might loose taste completely if it sucks.
  7. Hi Guys, Review of No Mans Sky coming out are very inconclusive. Honestly they are talking in circles. It is like reviewers really want to love the game. The concept seems very novel. If you have bought this game, is it worth it? How does it fare compared to like Star Citizen or Something?
  8. NEVER is a big word. At some point the tech will exist to make cameras on Devices like smart phones capable of producing industry Quality images. The Question is mostly when. Then as far as DOF, we have seen some smartphone camera tech like Intel Real Sense and Googles Project Tango (Not so sure about the second) that use two slightly different cameras to determine DOF. Not yet as good as a 800$ shooter. But a step in right direction I like to think.
  9. Big Prize pool is really good. Very healthy for the sport. I watch Both Starcraft 2 and Dota pro games and tournaments. It is really fun. But Starcraft 2's small prize pools make it harder to get excited. While last years 6 Million Dollar Echo SLAM ..........the feelings were so real. Big Prize pool means game is healthy in terms of business model and community. And Dota 2 is very Hard game. Honestly I am glad as a supporter of the sport that by buying Compendiums and hats it goes towards the players and organisation that makes the stuff possible.
  10. | Hi, With smartphone Cameras hitting 12 MP right now with Sony Sensors such as those found on the One Plus 3, is it sensible to assume that we have reached the point where professional grade photos are within reach (in terms of raw image quality) with that of Professional rated Dedicated Cameras. Or Better put, as a pro, is 2016 the year where you can go to a photo shoot with your phone (eg. Galaxy S7 ) and when you pull it own and get to work no one looks at you as a complete hack ? And if not, what features do Phone sensors need to have before they are considered serious photography tools? |
  11. Yes. A pure editing Rig. It doesn't have to game at all. It will spend all its use time just getting stuff done. I am pulling off a bit of a balancing act. With a budget of 1400$ I have to get a Laptop for work(Previously had only a desktop and need mobility). And a desktop which can replace my current dinasour for Video editing. I can go up to 800$ and be happy. And 1000$ if necessary. But that means I will get a sucky laptop. Which is fine. Performance matters most.
  12. Ok. I realise now I made a big mistake with this thread. I forgot to include my current frame of reference. Ok. This is my current build. My Awesome rig. Gets High FPS in Dota 2. Plays Black Ops 3 at 20-35 FPS. 35 - 60 if you just look a the ground AMD Athlon II x4 9640 3.0 GHZ Radeon HD 5770 1GB 860mhz Core / 1200mhz - Memory 8 GB Ram 2TB Cavier Green Hard Disk 400 Watt Power Supply /Mercury HP L1706 Monitor 1280 x 1024 - 60Hz lol. And that feeling you feel, ladies and gentlemen, is Appreciation for your Rig And yes. I am going to replace it soon. So I will probably see a huge improvement from my current experience no matter what. But importantly, i intend to get into video editing. Budget is 1300$ And no I didn't steal it from a bank. I think I was thinking HP OMEN Laptop with SSD and GTX 965M. Because since last I checked Laptops have gotten worth using for video editing and basic web design work. Thoughts?
  13. In order to edit and render videos in 30FPS - 4K video, is it possible to build a rig at 570 $ excluding windows. That will get the Job done. Here is something I came up with just picking out items. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/d4XsXH The list goes very high up to $1457.84 Can you build a PC that can handle 4k Video edits at that price? And if not, what kind of PC build is reasonable for editing and rendering videos in 4 K. Thanks
  14. The GTX 960m was a powerful mid Range Card which can play most titles at 45 fps at 1080p on medium and lower. - Lets call that a resonable gaming experience. And 75 Watts Peak Power draw. Lets say 70 Watts for . OK. So if next gen cards follow convention then the Pascal 960m replacement should be as powerful as the Desktop 960. And if Maxwell to pascal follows the same path the efficiency will go up by 12.5% aka (GTX980 watts/GTX1080 watts) aka (165/180) aka 0.93 as the wattage ratio. Then assuming this will carry over to the laptop GPU. Supposing they want to leave the same power envelope. Which is 70 watts. Ok. So you could get about 1 hour : 06 Minutes of gaming instead of 1 hour plain. I think. Honestly I have no idea what the GPU will be. But I think graphics are good enough right now. I just want a laptop which has a dedicated GPU which lasts 3 hours of actually gaming on the thing and much better low workload performance.
