Watch enough repair videos and you'll realize that Mac's are absolutely poorly designed in regards to thermal performance.

Their response is exactly the deluded and uneducated type of dribble I would expect.

    1. Shrinking the die, as far as I am aware, reduces power consumption and ups efficiency.
    2. Shrinking the die does not mean you have to cram more cores in there, to compensate. Because you haven't lost anything.

Really? You mean like that time they made a system that ran so hot, the BGA melted itself and popped the GPU off the board? And their fix?

Put a piece of rubber between the outer case and the GPU, so that it wouldn't pop loose. Edit: Instead of doing a proper soldering job in the fucking first place.

$800 ~maybe~ just because it is a laptop. Also I don't think warranties are transferable.  You'd have to check with asus directly.

Only a few of them actually would have an appreciable effect on CPU time, like rendering things at a distance and causing more things to show up.

Otherwise the rest is basically telling the GPU to render something better. The CPU doesn't need to do any extra work.
That might be the case with potato hardware, but I wouldn't consider the i5-3550 potato hardware. Especially if the i5-3450 can get this:
But with hardware that can mostly keep up? It doesn't really do anything:

If there's a background process that's eating up a lot of CPU time, either something is wrong with it or something is happening that's causing it to fire off a lot. Which if said event to cause the background process to go nuts is unintentional, something is also wrong.

A few of these are impacted by CPU performance.
Unless the hardware is a complete potato, this doesn't do much either.

Ryujin2003 reacted to mr moose in "Games as a service" is fraud - An informative and hard-hitting video about software ownership rights and need for advocacy
So are you saying he agree's with my post?  Because All I said was if a company is providing a service then they should be entitled to charge for it.

Once a product is EoL then the company is no longer providing a service.   I don't understand why it is "fraud" to charge for an essential (and advertised product requirement) service, especially given your opening sentence directly claims windows as a service is disingenuous, even though MS are providing a service to windows users, how is that fraud?  in fact what the F does windows have to do with EoL games?

It sounds to me that much like your last post (that you claim was used as reference for this video),  this one is conflating several issues then trying to use the general definition of a product under consumer law as evidence.

Yes, some do, Personally I don't play them and no one is forced to pay for a service that is like that, But some companies actually work hard to make their games not like that at all. ESO was really good at getting on top of the bots and gold spammers very early in the game.   However if a company just hands over the control of the servers straight out of the gate then they have Zero control over it.   I am not in favor of fighting to force a specific changes just because a few companies are bad at their job.

How long should a company be expected to support something at their own cost after sales?  5 years, 10 years, 20 years?  It doesn't matter how you try to resolve the expense of it, running servers for games and updating OS's costs money and it can't be done for free.  Someone has to pay or it won't happen.

Then Steam being hacked would be the least of your issues. If you have the mobile 2 factor authenticator app installed and they bypassed that, then you might want to get the garbage apps off your phone.
You might want to change the passwords on your email and such. Unless your password was stupid easy and the same as other accounts, I'd recommend cleaning your PC and scanning for viruses, malware, keyloggers, etc...

Ryujin2003 reacted to Stefan Payne in Vega finally beats RTX? Vulkan strikes again!
The Problem with Vulkan is that it doesn't allow for as much Driver Optimization like DX11 does, wich is why nVidia might not be happy about it.

Because it removes the "driver magic" from the equation..
And as this shows, VEGA can beat the nVidia Chips under certain circumstances.

And since we are bashing nVidia here:
Remember Wildlands?? That Ubi Coop Game??
The one that crashes on nVidia Turing cards? Wich is still not fixed today.

And no, Ubi is not to blame as the Game was there before the Cards. And Maxwell and Pascal seem to work.

Having worked at a tech retailer as a repair tech and my own personal experience, I tend to stick with Samsung for reliability as well as performance.  Even my Samsung 850 M.2 SATA is WAY better than my Kingston M.2 SATA (forget which model).

I'm still running almost 4-5 years on my OCZ SSDs, so it's completely possible to have good drives that aren't Samsung. AData is rubbish (IMO), and don't like the entry level Kingston either. Why? Because I'd always seen my clients coming back with dead or defective SSD's MORE often than any of them other budget drives. If I'm going to recommend a budget SSD, I generally recommend PNY because I haven't experienced many drives failing in either my professional career or personal. AData is much more memorable as a failure, so I don't recommend them. And Kingston might be ok, but in my region, PNY is generally better price comparison for storage size.

The failures of ADATA and other brands could've been bad lots, or could've been something else. But for reliability (even on budget offerings) there are other options. I'm not a "fan boy" but I stick with Samsung because of their reliability and performance for certain cases. But I still have PNY and my OCZ drives as well. Crucial is good from what I hear, but never had one because I was able to find better deals with sales with different companies at the time.

Didn't watch this one. The stupid thumbnails finally got to me. Being older, I've been finding it harder to follow LTT out side of Tech Quickie. Why? Because it's gotten super immature. It's not that I don't have a sense of humor, it's that I don't spend my free time watching people act like jackasses (unless I'm actually watching Jackass). It feels like they make videos for the sake of just putting content up. Images are dumb, everyone acts like they are 9 years old. I know LTT gets new viewership, so good for the company.

And yet, Samsung SSDs are the most popular (Samsungs, Pro and EVO, are the only SSDs I'll buy). If a Sammy is out of one's budget, Crucial MX500s have a good reputation. Keep in mind you generally get only what you pay for. You want quality? Pony up!
