Not really. You can get better prebuilts. It will do the job tho.

But if you really want something nice and small. Look on ebay for some used usff systems from dell, hp, lenovo. You can basically get a i7 4th gen er newer system for 250$ and it will be better too.

Hello everyone, official DeepCool rep here. We got permission from the mods to post a general PC case survey in the off-topic section that's looking to take a pulse on the current case market to help guide us into making a better product.

No personal information or emails are required, so no marketing shenanigans here. We're just looking to get honest answers and opinions from the community.

I've posted this up to other areas on the internet and in hindsight there were a few questions that we definitely missed such as 5.25" drive bays, so if you feel we missed something make sure to leave a comment on the last question of the survey!

    Thanks!

Guiltyxz reacted to Jtalk4456 in Steam/Wallpaper Engine - User Profile Confusion in Windows
    OS: WIn 10 19042.804
    Software: Steam/Wallpaper Engine
Setting: 2 user profiles and an Admin Profile
Problem: Me and wifey each have a windows profile on our main computer. We've only had this one computer that we share so it is what it is. But we've had an issue where our steam profiles get confused. So my profile is where steam was first installed, and I have all the VR games in my steam, but my wife loves the Miyazaki wallpapers for her profile, but her profile will NOT stay logged into steam for any reason, and I don't know why. I've checked all the settings and it's set up how it should be, but her profile either doesn't autologin (necessary for wallpaper engine to start automatically) or logs into my profile. I have never logged into my steam on her profile so it's not saved by accident or anything. I don't know how to make her profile forget my steam login and autologin to hers so she can have her wallpapers.

I know some will say get a 2nd computer and keep them separate, and future plans have 2 pcs each with one profile and a shared network, so this shouldn't be an issue for long, but someone else might be dealing with this. And in the mean time it's very annoying.
    Any ideas?

Guiltyxz reacted to BuckGup in Thoughts on AdBlock
The issue is ads can be injected with things like R32 ransomware so from a security standpoint blocking ads is a good thing. Also if you have a datacap and auto play videos load every time you visit a website that starts to add up. So until advertisers present a nice model where ads aren't popups, auto play videos, and scale with the website window I will do everything in my power to block every ad and tracker on the internet.

I would try to restart chrome first by killing it with task manager. If that doesn't work, try a system restart. If neither of those work I would just try to update chrome first or re-install it.

Edit: Make sure your passwords are saved before you re-install chrome! you can export them as a csv file in chrome settings.

Backup's of backup's are good too, just in case. You don't want to realize that sync was off after the fact.

Guiltyxz reacted to VEXICUS in SSD TIER LIST
Welcome to the SSD tier list.

SSD or Solid State Drive is a storage device containing non-volatile flash memory, used in place of hard drive because of its much greater speed. Unlike a hard drive, a solid state drive doesnt have any moving parts. It has two main components - A flash controller and  NAND flash memory chips.
More information on solid state drives can be had from here..
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive

This guide differentiates SSDs in different tiers based on their DWPD, sustained writes, controllers and NAND types.

Make Ctrl + F your Best Friend...

NOTE - MANY MANUFACTURERS ARE REPLACING THE KEY COMPONENTS OF SSDS (CONTROLLERS & NAND FLASH) WITH INFERIOR COMPONENTS WITHOUT INFORMING THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THIS LIST IS BASED ON THE COMPONENTS (CONTROLLERS & NAND FLASH) THAT THE SSD CAME WITH  AT THE TIME OF LAUNCH.

I like the idea. Better than the scores they had last time based on whoever was the better gamer.
Due to the pandemic I think it might be a while before they do another scrapyard wars series.

So a few quick things - I have no idea if anyone at LTT actually reads this reddit, but I figured I'd post this here and see what happens. Secondly, while I love all the normal LTT content Scrapyard Wars is by far my favorite series. With the obviousness that 2020 made it impossible to actually safely do Scrapyard Wars, and with the hopes 2021 allows us to get another chapter of the series, I had a content idea for them:

Scrapyard Wars - Budget Flippers Two Teams with a budget of $600 USD (because I don't think GPU prices will drop by 2021) 7 Days (4 days to scavenge / build their PCs) and 3 Days to Flip it for Profit. Most Profit wins!
That's right this concept is simple - unlike previous seasons where its been about "scavenge the cheapest parts, and get it to run just long enough to complete benchmarks before the dumpster fire literally sets itself on fire"; this season it's about having a strict budget, sourcing the parts, building the best PC they can, BUT they need to ensure it's stability this season to the point they feel comfortable RESELLING it to another human being as a WORKING budget build. Meaning no consistent blue screens, can at least play E-Sports Titles on 1080p, and AAA titles on 720p Medium settings. They can still benchmark the machines to compare....

BUT the caveat to the season is after they are built - they then have to RESELL the unit for the most profit possible in 3 days! (PLUS their left over funds.) Highest overall total profit wins. Example:
Linus spends his full $600 on the unit, Flips it for $800: Total Profit is $200 Luke spends only $400 on the unit, flips it for $500: Total Profit is $300 ($200 left in his $600 budget+$100 profit) Luke wins.

There is no limitation to whom they can sell to in the 3 days - Private Sale, Pawn Shop, Local Store - however they feel they can get the most profit. (This also should ensure they at the least sell the unit by the end of the series, as they could Pawn it in most local Pawn Shops, but may not get a great return, or could they???)

Just my thought on what would be a cool series when they can do another new season. It takes the pressure off a bit about hitting benchmarks and focuses more on building a RELIABLE machine that they can comfortably feel morally correct about reselling, and gives viewers an idea of what a "Budget PC Flipper" would look like in the real world. No idea if anyone at LTT will see this, but just wanted to post it somewhere as a cool idea.

Guiltyxz reacted to AlTech in PronHub gets cancelled by Visa and Mastercard
    <removed by staff>

    Summary
A few days ago the New York times expose into alleged illegal content on PronHub caused Visa and MasterCard to get upset with the platform. Today that upset becomes official with a ban on payment processing on their website leaving paying customers with the option of Cryptocurrency.

After the expose came out PronHub had committed to disabling video downloads and making steps towards uploader verification but had largely denied any wrongdoing on their part.

    My thoughts
I'm gonna be honest I think they wanted to cancel PornHub anyways but this is a pre-textual way to do it while making them not look like the bad guys.

I'm not a fan of how much of a stranglehold Visa and MasterCard hold over the internet and real life as it is right now. Although Amex and Crypto are alternatives, I wouldn't be surprised if Amex joins the bandwagon.

I have the 2700 and it runs everything fine, but I would agree with Aragorn- and go with the 3600 unless you are going to be using software that uses the 8 cores, or are going to be streaming
