  1. I mostly posted this as a joke and would never in real life consider it for a build. I'd buy a cx430 or better if needed before ever considering this. Also I'm really surprised this is still in stock considering the age of it.
  2. So I was looking for a budget 500w PSu and I come across this beauty. I was wondering if anyone else had ever used it or considered buying it. Oh and it looks like it was designed in the 70s by a colourblind four year old.
  3. I have another topic posted about my PC build, it is here, but I have realized that I can only afford a $470ish dollar or less build and I looked into it and a cheap 60-90 dollar CPU and a AMD Radeon 7770 might work better. I also have a possible build using a Intel Core i5 2500k because somehow the Fry's Electronics website has it listed for $60 and unavailable/out of stock, but I am waiting for a response to a customer support request to see if it is a typo (The website is a bad experience/sucks and if this is a typo, there are a lot of others in the PC parts section. All on prices too.) and an email for when the CPU is in stock. At the moment all builds include a 32gb SSD because I already have a Hard Drive and am going to use the SSD for Windows 8. I can buy the Kaveri 7770k or the Athlon 750k and Radeon 7770 in the next few days when I order the parts which is preferable or should I wait for the i5 to be available? The build is mostly for moderate gaming (Think DOTA/Minecraft/Hearthstone for about 14-28 hours a week) and watching movies off of Netflix and such,14-35 hrs/wk. I know, overkill, but it is better than buying new parts within the year. Builds- Kaveri Athlon 750K Intel i5 If anyone has a better build that I might want to look at, go ahead and post it, or any comments in general are welcome.
  4. I was concerned at first when the price was almost $600. I checked the link and this seems awesome. I might do some more looking, but this is most likely what I will get. I like the FM2+ motherboard because I can add a Kaveri or better in the future if I decide I need an APU for some reason.
  5. Since October last year I have been thinking of ideas for my first PC build. I am shooting for a price range of about $400, but at the moment my parts list is at about $500. I am most likely using an AMD Kaveri 7770k,but I was thinking a Radeon HD 7770/better $100 GPU paired with a decent CPU might be better the more I look into it. If anyone has alternatives for any parts in my build, your help is greatly appreciated. Also I would use 8gb of RAM, but prices are almost double what they used to be a year ago. (Parts List) TL;DR- I am looking for critique on my parts list before I buy anything.
  6. My storage configuration Desktop- One Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 160gb for boot and user files. One Samsung Spinpoint 5400 rpm 40gb for downloads and movies. One Seagate GoFlex 5400 rpm 1tb external hard drive for files I need transferred or stored externally. I use this setup to ensure my downloads, movies and personal data are separate from the main system hdd and to have my files with me wherever I am. Laptop- One Seagate Momentus 5400 rpm 60gb for everything. I use this because it was a decent size for what I needed at the time I bought it and I use my desktop and external drive more.
