  2. Video Recording equipment that does not include the camera. More like tripods, microphones, stabilizers, monopods, tripod heads, sliders, amplifiers etc. I do video work myself and just curious what you guys use. I record on a Canon 5DMk3 with a Samson wireless lav mic and a Audio Technica shotgun mic hooked up to a Juicedlink Riggy-micro then to the camera and use Audio Technica M50x headphones to monitor. Then I usually switch between tripod and monopod depending on what im shooting.
  3. Would love one for as media pc/gamestream pc for the living room.
  4. True, I already pre-ordered, but I based my purchasing decision on the many video of people playing the game. And from what I've seen, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it.
  5. Then use a ps3/ps4 controller. Just need to install some software first but both controller will work.
  6. The launch trailer for Elite: Dangerous came out today and I think there will be many disappointed people out there if they buy the game because of this trailer. I have not played the game myself yet beside the combat training but I've seen plenty of alplha/beta/gamma videos to know the trailer is not very representative of actual game play. In all fairness, the trailer does say it does not include any real game play footage. It was a cool trailer nonetheless but I just hope people do a bit more research before they buy it so they aren't disappointed. I'm still excited to play it. I don't think I saw anyone else post about it yet. I'll remove this post if someone has.
  7. Portal Wearable Smartphone An indiegogo campaign to fund a wearable smartphone with a flexible display. Seems like a cool idea and something I imagined would happen someday but with new wearable smart watches, I feel this probably wont gain any traction. It claims to be "Android Based OS with Portal OS Customizable User Interface". The flexibility of the device seems like it could have some application in regular phones but ultimately for this device I feel its adoption is going to narrow down to whether people want to wear something so big on their arms. I for one would not want to. Just seems impractical. By the looks of it to make a phone call you would need to have a bluetooth (or wired I'd imagine) headset. Otherwise you have to remove it from your arm to use like a normal handheld phone. A cool idea but ultimately heading in the wrong direction of the market. *edit : Added another image
  8. That's really up to you. I wanted something powerful enough to crank out videos quickly and for light gaming. I also wanted it to be as thin as possible. Last, it needed to look professional. I didn't want it to look all flashy like some gaming laptops look. Besides a few green accents its fairly minimalistic. I feel comfortable pulling this out in front of a client. Now, I was not able to find anything for the price that has the same performance, build quality, thinness, and that is as beautiful as the blade. Also for anyone that lives in the US and has a microsoft store near by (or . com store) they have a student discount on the blade (10%).
  9. Great machine for video work on the road. Got myself one for a two week trip I'll be taking to NY in a couple weeks. Also using it for a lil light gaming on while I'm out or steam in-home streaming while I'm home.
  10. It was just last year (2013) around October. I was doing my very first build and was looking at reviews for the parts I was considering and Linus had some of the most well done and entertaining reviews that I could find. Been subbed ever since. Always do my best to catch the WAN Show live when I can.
  11. Mostly using for video editing on the go and light gaming.

  16. What is the file size and bit-rate for the actual file you uploaded?
  17. That display look nice. Gotta love them viewing angles.
  18. I like the button-less sides. Absolute hate knocking the volume rocker on my current phone.
  19. a couple gopros or similar action type cameras would be cool to attach to the guns or and the people shooting to get a first person perspective of things.
  20. digitalrev.com has some good video reviews. They're usually pretty funny too. They're at least more entertaining then most reviewers that will just talk about specs and that it. Check out their youtube channel.
  21. All good suggestions from those above. The Canon sx700 though a great camera is more than $300. The older SX280 might be a better option. Not as much zoom but pretty much the same features. (the sx700 is essentially replacing the sx280). There is also the Canon sx600 which is new just like the 700 but closer to the specs of the sx280. It only has 18x zoom but an increase to 16mp (only really important for large prints). It also removed the manual features of the sx280 which is probably a good thing for someone that just wants a mid/high end simple camera. The sx280 and 700 both have manual controls that probably go unused by most people. Particularly those that don't really know much about controlling a camera. From nikon others too look at comparable to many of the canon cameras already mentioned would be nikon s6800 or the s9600. The canon s110 I also would not recommend for someone that wants something basic. It is a great camera but I would say its marketed as the point and shoot camera for people with dslrs. It has the build quality and manual features of a dslr but limited in zoom. My recommendation would be the canon sx600. Its basic like the elph 130 or 340 mentioned but with a couple nicer features. The 130 or 340 would be great if you want to go a bit smaller. On the nikon side the s6800 would be comparable to the elph 340.
  22. you should maybe look at the canon 115 IS instead. A tad better.
  23. here you go. just take a shot and upload it to here and it should tell you.
