This isn't really made for video editors doing 4K material, they will unveil the Thunderbolt display with 5K soonish hopefully. This is more for graphics designers who want the extra pixels. Any serious video editor using a Mac will buy a MacPro desktop and then a Thunderbolt screen or another great quality screen.

This is a fantastic step forward for Apple and the Industry, it gets the conversation of higher resolution screens moving at an even faster pace and will result it better prices and more competition. Even if you don't particularly like Apple, the parts inside the machine or whatever, this is a good step forward.

    GG Apple.

If you buy this for gaming, or compare it to a gaming pc you are doing it wrong (in fact try to make a 5k display gaming pc with $2500)

I work with an iMac on the office everyday (graphic and motion design) and I wouldn't change it for any PC.
I game with my PC at my home everyday and I wouldn't change it for any Mac.

Next time try not to put a Formula 1 on a rally track.

Non-Z variants can't really overclock that well (if they even bother to in the first place), and have less features and might look worse.

If you're going SLI, just make sure the board you get supports it.
    Not all boards do.

    That's...sort of correct.

The Z series board are Intel "certified" to overclock the K sku chips. The other chipsets, not so much. They also support more SATA ports, etc.
H97 is a high end consumer board, H81 is a slightly lower end one with less expansion, B85 is a business grade chipset.
You really have to look at each board to find out what works for you and what doesn't.

If you're not overclocking you can likely save some money by hunting down an H97 board that will work for you.

So here is my initial review of the Corsair Graphite 760T in Artic White.
Since filming this I've built my system in it and used it for about 2 weeks. So I'll have a video overviewing the build and a final thoughts on the case that I'll try and post here!

How you enjoy it and/or find it helpful!

The samsung SSD 840 lasted for 760 Tib that can be translated to 10Gib per day and that equals to 214 years. You can say that doesnt prove anything but an less you want a hard drive to last 20 years I dont know why the SSD's arent a option for you.

Pc games are kinda chained to consoles atm, most of the games need to have in mind to be able to run on PC. So to break this chain basicly consoles would need to disappear or something, and that will not happen any time soon. For one great reason that people forget, PC AREN'T optimized for living room entertainment. Its so freaking unpractical to use a mouse and a keyboard on a sofa, you need to have an optimized OS that can be controlled with a gamepad NATIVELY, The PC games are mainly to be played with a mouse and keyboard. The OS is meant to be navigated with a mouse. My opinion,as I said, before, is that the future of the consoles will stop being about the hardware but about the OS itself. Designed to be installed on a recommended hardware and all the games are designed to be played NATIVELY with a gamepad.

I can't forget the games on a console they are made for that, well for more stuff like netflix and so on, but for internet experience, working, chatting (text) and much more that a Pc experience, Its a more workstation driven, like consoles are game driven.

About the sluggish you misunderstood me, my fault, I was talking about trying to use a computer on a living room, about the need to use the mouse to navigate to a game, or some games aren't optimized for a controller and some you need to spend time on the option menu bind everything correctly, and game that don't support the gamepad period, no split screen, the boot times on the console are almost instant, all this and much more give me the feel of sluggish, unoptimized. And yes loadings on Pc are way faster, consoles simply cannot compete.

Ok that answer the part on how to use a mouse and a keyboard on your living room, but compare that to a xbox or ps3, is really impractical, where you can just take the controller and you're good to go and you can play with your friends as well.

berna got a reaction from threadysparrow in Favorite genre of all time.
For me I would say sci fi / fantasy / mystery / thriller. This is more for movies, for games although I love sci fi, in a game the genre works more like a theme, depends on the game style (which my favorite is RPGs) and how story driven it is. Singleplayers are way more story driven than multiplayers are for example. So you can say I really like a great sci fi RPG very story driven (Mass effect <3). But I can play and love any themed RPG with a great story and characters. In general love stories that ask complicated question about human nature (physical and psychological) religion and the universe itself.

berna got a reaction from threadysparrow in Why would you ever pre order a digital game?
That can be applied to single player games, but on a heavy multiplayer game based, like a MMO for example you will be really behind and automaticly playing "alone" because the player base is way ahead of you. And I pre-order BF4 so me and my friends can play all at the same time at the same level. So there are different points for different games.
