  1. Hi all, I've just recently bought an Asus TUF 7900 XTX gpu and wasn't expecting it to be this monster of a card that it is. Now, my issue is that it won't fit in the case without me destroying the case internals, so I think I'll have to look for something new. My needs are the following: case should have at least 3 HDD bays and 2 ODD bays (I still use optical drives, so it's a must) and it has to have a windowed side panel. Of course, by default the GPU has to fit in it too So far I've found a couple that won't bankrupt me, so here are my choices: Thermaltake Versa N26 Fractal Focus G bequiet! Pure Base 600 Window (both the full black one and the one with orange stripes) Thermaltake Versa H26 Tempered Glass Phanteks Enthoo Pro PH-ES614P BK Thermaltake Core X31 What do you guys think? What would you recommend besides these? I believe the GPU should fit along with everything else in the case. I would like to mention that I'm based in Romania so some cases I might not be able to find. Thanks in advance for the help.
  2. Hi all, I've decided to ask my question here instead of creating a new topic. I have a Logitech Z906 (I live in a studio apartment and it is convenient because I can connect a lot of things to it) and I was thinking about getting a separate sound card for my PC. My reasoning would be is that, back in the day I never had the chance to experience some oldies but goldies that use EAX (Doom 3 or Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast) and I was looking for something that could be modern and also offer these features. Or should I just go for the old x-fi cards and switch between it and the one on my motherboard? Also, I saw that Plouffe also uses a sound card and it looks like something to be from Creative but I've never figured out which model and I'm also curious as to why exactly? BTW, right now I'm rocking an ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming motherboard. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi all, About the new cat5e cable, no, I didn't try another cable because I've ruled out the cable problem when connecting to the optical terminal/endpoint device directly and it runs like a charm. About measuring internet speeds, I haven't tested the local speed, only the internet speed. Both with speedtest.net and my IPS's tester (also using speedtest.net). I have a spare Asus RT-N56 lying around and I could swap the N15 with it at anytime. I reckon that could be a good replacement (it was my dad's and when he went to another provider, they gave him their wireless router) at least for a while. About the upgrade, yeah. Might as well. I'll keep a lookout for something wifi 6 or maybe wifi 7. What puzzles me is that my N15U got kneecapped out of nowhere, since it was working fine 2 months ago (I had download speeds of over 95 Megabytes, sometimes over 100 from ex origin/EA app). In the end, thank you all for your feedback, it's much appreciated.
  5. Hi all, I've recently started having issues with my Asus RT-N15U router. I do have to mention that it is pretty old at this point (bought it in 2014 or something like that). Happened about 2 months ago, or so. I went to work, in the morning the wifi was working just fine. By the time I got home, for some reason it tried to reconnect to the internet with my credentials (most likely this happened or I don't know what else could've caused this) and the ISP gave it a timeout. I'm using a Broadband PPPoE connection, 1 Gbit, I have a fiber endpoint device. Now, I've managed to solve this issue after a router reset, all went dandy. However, right now on the gigabit lan port I'm only receiving around 150 Mbit of speed for some odd reason. I don't know how or why this happened. Port is OK, it's not damaged. Tried other port also. Also rebooted the router several times, but it didn't fix the issue. I'm using an Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming motherboard and I'm using the gigabit port on it (Intel I211). Tried connecting to the endpoint device directly, I have blazing fast gigabit internet again. Any ideas what could be causing this? Or is this the router's way of telling it will die soon? Let me know if you need more details. Thank you all for your inputs.
  6. Hi all, Just a quick one here. I have an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX rev 2.0 motherboard, with a Realtek® ALC892 audio chip on it, having lots of advertised stuff on it like - Absolute Pitch 192kHz/ 24-bit True BD Lossless Sound - Blu-ray audio layer Content Protection - ASUS Noise Filter and so on... For Speakers, I have a Logitech z906. What I want to really try is to benefit of the power of a separate sound card in my pc (or outside for that matter). So now I'm torn between these three: Audigy FX, PCIE - Audigy RX, PCI-E - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro v3 (USB) Which one would be recommendable?
  7. Hello all, I'm adding info to this thread so it can be closed afterwards. I've ordered new fans from China, since I've seen one of them blew up. Changed the fans but still nothing. Now, the idea is that when I've unplugged the fans, the problem was that the GND pin moved and needed re soldering. What was not visible, however, is that it might've also broken some contacts around it on the PCB. My colleague found a workaround for this, by soldering a short cable to create an "artificial" GND. Practically soldering a cable to one of the screw holes that holds the backplate. This resolved the issue. and now it's functioning well. Hopefully somebody in the future somebody, who's struggling with the same issue, sees this and will be helpful. Thanks for listening. Except for SavageNeo. You've been rude, dude...
  8. Yeah, thanks. that was really helpful. Any other info? Especially since it was working for at least 4 months.
  9. Hello all, I've disassembled my card last year in December, since it was out of warranty and needed cleaning. During the cleaning process, I've used alcohol (ethilic, 70%). When I've disconnected the fan header, since it was tight, a few of the pins moved. This caused to not have the fans working. Took it to one of my colleagues who re soldered the pins. After the third try (third time, we've used flux also) the soldering was successful. We've also measured continuity and if there were was a short circuiting present or not. All was fine and there was fan spin. For a while. After a while, it just stopped by itself, for no reason. Sometimes, this could be solved by shutting the PC down and turning the PSU off also. The fans wouldn't work if I turned on the psu immediately, a good few hours needed to pass for that (discharging the caps I wonder? I'm no expert on this, it just leads me to think that). The fans would spin normally but after a while, they would stop completely. The interesting thing is that even with turning the PSU off, turning it back on after several hours (coudln't tell exactly, since I usuallly turned it off after using the PC => went to bed => went to work => got home, so there could've been about 16 hours of downtime, more maybe), the fans spin up for a while and then go completely dead, not even move a bit. I've noticed something interesting however. After several days, couple of weeks, I was trying to lower the memory frequency so the card wouldn't overheat that fast. Messed up the setting, unfortunately left MSI Afterburner to boot up with windows, always killed it since the card was unstable. I've had to reinstall windows and while copying some files over, using an Ubuntu live USB (18.10 at the time), at one point, the fans just turned on again by themselves, no exterior action. The fans then worked from around february/march normally. Didn't have the turn off the PSU anymore, fans would spin up at each boot, no issues. Fan speeds could be modified with absolutely no issues, temperatures normal. Then, last week, on the 12th of June, my fans completely stopped again. Just simply out of nowhere. Now, if I turn the PSU off, for several hours again, and turn it back on again then starting the PC, the fans spin for a while then turn off. With the fans not working, I couldn't even watch youtube videos because the memory clock jumps to 1260 MHz and the card overheats, turning itself off. Any ideas what could cause this? Is there a circuitry I need to check to find out what the problem could be? A component on the card? I have an ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 motherboard. Could that be causing it? The PCI Express slot has been cleaned out with a paintbrush (was brand new, only used for cleaning dust off components), will clean out again if needed. What should I look out for? Would I need new fans? Because if I do, what's the guarantee that those won't behave the same? PSU is a Corsair CS750M, I've also changed the PCI-E power connector to the second one, no luck. Thanks in advance,
  10. Thanks WoodenMarker, it's at a great price too! Didn't know you understand Romanian Will order it, if shopmania.ro won't turn up a different place where it could be cheaper (like mediadot, cel, emag or evomag). Thank you all for your help
  11. Hi guys, Yes, the fan is 120 mm. I was thinking about a Noctua NF-F12 industrial. My cooler came with a single 120mm Slipstream fan. So no push-pull configuration, only one possible. I live in Romania and I've purchased it here, in 2014 around July I believe. Regarding the CFM, it did come with the 1900 rpm slipstream, especially according to the model number I've posted in the first one, and it can do around 110,3 CFM on max rpm. (see product page google turns up when searching for the model: http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/cpu-cooler/ninja-3-rev-b.html ) Budget would be, somewhere between $10-$30... Wouldn't want to go overboard, especially because at around $34 I can get a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO. I just really don't want to dismantle my PC again, especially since everything is functioning right, it took a while and it was pretty spooky, after the cleanup... But if I have no choice, I might dismantle it again. Many thanks for the recommendations so far. Hope I've managed to be more precise with the details.
  12. Hello all, So, recently, the fan on my Scythe Ninja 3 rev. B died (SY1225SL12HPVC) and I'm looking for a replacement. Any suggestions? Would a case fan do? or should I go "industrial"? (since this fan was able to achieve above 110 CFM on 100%, though I never used it on 100% and never needed to for my FX8350) I have a Zalman Z11 HF1 case with all of its 5 fans (2x80 mm on the sides for the HDDs, 1x120 mm in the front, 1x120mm on the back and 1x120mm on the top in the rear part). Set them to Turbo from the bios, CPU reached around high 70°C, almost 80°C in Doom (2016) Multiplayer. Much appreciated. Csaby.
  13. Hi Skiiwee29, Thanks for the tip. Regarding the dismantling of the card, no, it has never been done. I never touched it but I really want to clean out everything, starting from the fans through the heatsink, I want it to be in pristine condition. I wonder if I can reuse the thermal pads if it has any.
  14. Hi all, Sorry if similar topic (regarding thermal pastes) already exists, I just didn't manage to find it. I've purchased an Asus Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II graphics card in 2014, around July. I'll be doing a major cleaning of my PC soon and that means I'm planning to dismantle everything (PSU, graphics card, not the motherboard though). I've also purchased some thermal paste for the CPU about a year ago, DeepCool Z5, two pieces. Can't remember if the 5 or 7g versions. Haven't used any of those yet. My questions would be: should I dismantle the graphics card too in order to change the thermal paste? Would the DeepCool Z5 do or should I buy something else for it? I'm currently in Romania so I will search the local market to see what I can find (in case one of the recommendations would be unavailable here). Thanks.
  15. Well since I'm sitting a bit far from my PC (no desk, only couch) I'm using a Microsoft wireless 3000 set (both keyboard and mouse).
