  1. It's not only happening while idle, it also happens just whenever the PC isn't in BIOS. What is the point of setting a voltage if the damn cpu won't abide by it?
  2. Dude, I can't even express how frustrating this is. I tried to lower my voltage from 1.325V to 1.3V on my i7 6700k at 4.7gHz and it ended up crashing so I went one down to 4.6gHz and tried out 1.265V. Problem is the voltage is nowhere close to that number, and instead averages around 1.32-1.35 while idling. My cpu temps are also bouncing anywhere from 33-50C. I have a Corsair H100i v2 and this is so odd... BTW the heat spikes just happen randomly for no reason, no load at all. Is my motherboard broken or something? Why won't it stay down at 1.265 like I set it to?
  3. Aida64 and RealBench. On idle, it is still jumping around. It hardly even stays under 1.3. It averages around 1.335, which is 0.335 higher than what I set it as. Wtf?
  4. I set my cpu voltage to 1.3 but it just jumps from 1.28 to 1.34 What's with this?

    Wich graphic card?

I would first start off by just disassembling the entire computer, taking anything that's worth it (the motherboard, cpu, maybe the ram as well), and try to sell the rest of the parts for cheap. Then, I would get a decent case, reliable power supply (modular, if possible), new storage, at least 1tb hard drive and 250gb ssd, and then focus on a new graphics card. I think you should focus on fixing up other essential components of your PC before you focus on graphics and gaming.
  6. Hello everyone, I recently just overclocked my first cpu, the i7 6700k from 4.0-4.2 to 4.7 gHz. During this entire process, I had my motherboard (asus z170-a) power my cpu with manual mode with a constant voltage of 1.325 (probably a bad voltage, but I just copied Linus' skylake OC guide verbatim). In the video, he recommends that after the OC, you should switch the power mode from manual to adaptive mode. I tried this and when I checked the voltage with CPU-Z, the voltage was extremely high, jumping from 1.4-1.5, and sometimes even 1.6. Is there a way to set this up perfectly? I heard that leaving your cpu on manual mode will shorten its lifespan much faster than adaptive mode. I do not know how to use the offset or turbo voltage options. Please help. Thanks.

Is it worth upgrading my system right now?

What do you mean by very high fps? I plan on purchasing a 1440p 144hz monitor.

Is it worth upgrading my system right now?

No, it is not currently overclocked. I know this sounds stupid, with the parts I have, but I just don't feel safe, or even really know how to overclock it.

Is it worth upgrading my system right now?

Would my cpu be a bottleneck if I upgrade the graphics card?

Is it worth upgrading my system right now?

I guess medium-high settings? Maybe ultra for some lower end games?
  11. Hey everyone, I currently have an i7 6700k Asus Z170-A mobo Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz 32gb ddr4 ram (8gb sticks) EVGA GTX 1080 FTW (first gen) and was wondering if I should upgrade to an i7 9700k MSI Z390-A Pro mobo (keeping the same ram) MSI GAMING RTX 2080 ventus I have been eyeing the latter for a while, but was wondering if it was worth the money. I also do not know where to sell my old parts if I happen to upgrade. Please also let me know of a marketplace that is safe and reliable to do that. The purpose of this hypothetical upgrade is because I want to start playing PC games at 1440p (144hz). Thanks.
  12. Hello, I am using the latest version of Opera and use 2 monitors with my rig. I have noticed that if my video is not fullscreened on my monitors, there is a sound and video delay. When the video tries to catch up, the video buffers for about a second then starts back up. 5 seconds later, the same issue occurs. I don't think this has anything to do with my PC or internet because I tried the same thing on Chrome but with no issues. You are probably wondering then, " Why don't you just use Chrome?" The answer to that is my personal preference is Opera. Chrome also messes with my antivirus (Malwarebytes) so that is another reason why I avoid using it. If any has dealt with this predicament before and can offer some solutions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot. How to unselect default app for opening a type of file?

I know, but I want to change that app to nothing, so no program opens that kind of file.
