  1. Okay so for anyone reading this who has a similar issue, after trying everything (removing and reinstalling drivers, updating bios, buying new cable), my current fix for this is creating a custom resolution and setting the refresh rate to 59hz (from 60hz). God knows why this works and 60hz doesn't but there's no more flickering.
  2. I've recently finished building my new pc and have found an issue with the displayport connection. Whenever I'm trying to run my monitor using DP I always get this weird flickering/glitching effect. The issue doesn't exist with a Hdmi connection but my card only had one hdmi port and that is being used by the screen tablet I work on (nevertheless I've tested hdmi on my monitor too). The problem persists on all three of the available displayports on the gpu so surely it can't be a hardware issue? I've replaced the displayport cable I was using to see if that was the issue, it didn't fix it. Im sure my nvidia drivers are up to date. Apart from that I'm quite stumped as to what to do, any advice? For context the specs are: Msi RTX 3070 suprim X i7 10700k 32 gb Corsair vengeance RGB Msi MAG z490 Tomahawk MoBo Corsair rm750 psu Corsair H170i elite cappelix AIO Samsung 750 evo 500 gb SSD Crucial MX500 1tb SSD Asus WiFi card
  3. Okay, marking this as solved now as the issue is now the flickering screen so it needs a new topic.
  4. okay UPDATE: Reformatting and doing a clean windows install on my SSD worked! It now boots to windows, many thanks @GeorgeMKane! Now, I still have the issues with the flickering screen BUT I think I've narrowed the issue down to the display port cable because my pen tablet display runs perfectly fine with no flickering on its HDMI connection. So maybe the cable is faulty/and old standard?
  5. Also I forgot to mention I did check the boot priority in the BIOS but the msi bios confused me a little as it didn't list the harddrives by name, only had you choose priority using general types of boot devices (eg: hard disk, USB hard disk, etc.) My previous pc's asrock bios didn't have this set up. The Msi bios definitely recognised the drives however as both were listed in the storage section.
  6. So there's an update, I've taken my ssds back into my old pc and they work just fine. Still no idea what's wrong with new pc
  7. The bios is showing everything alright, it's detected the hardware but just isn't booting to Windows.
  8. Okay, so for the "glitchy" bios, I'm getting some flickering. I can still see the bios alright it's just kinda annoying. And I forgot about the storage sorry! I have a Samsung 750 evo (500gb) which was the boot drive from my old pc and a Crucial mx500 1tb which is relatively new (a few months) but once again was previously installed on my old pc.
  9. So I just finished up building my new pc but after pressing the power on, biting my nails in anticipation, its stuck on a glitchy bios screen. The first time it happened there was a quick message about detecting a new cpu or something. I have reused my SSDs from my previous pc as all my files are on there but everything else is new. I'm not sure what the problem is/could be as it's only my second build but it is definitely worrying. Specs are: Intel i7 10700k Msi Suprim RTX 3070 32 gb Corsair dominator ram Msi Tomahawk Z470 motherboard Corsair rm750 powersupply Corsair h150i cappelix 360mm AIO
  10. The monitor turns on and off like normal, just displays the 'no signal' notification sometimes.
  11. So I've had a recurring problem lately and I need help just finding out what's going on, I'm in the dark here (it's my first build so zero xp) Basically, my pc sometimes won't display a signal on my monitor (it's really inconsistent). The first time I did it, I panicked and searched Google for a solution and what I got them was that someone just happened to unplug something from a usb port and it seemed to work, doesn't seem like an actual thing but I did and and hey-presto it worked. Happened again another time, this time I didn't have anything plugged in apart from the basics (mouse, keyboard), so I did the good old turn off/turn on trick and after a couple of goes voilà, it worked. Now, it happened again and no amount of off/on fuckery managed to work, I searched Google again and saw that some people said it could be an issue with the GPU, to unplug it, remove it, clean it, etc. and put it back in. I opted to be lazy and leave the drastic 'unplug everything' plan for my last resort. I got to the point where I had to unplug the PSU from the graphics card and plus that back it. This worked. And after all this, I still don't get what the problem is, why it's so inconsistent or when/if it'll happen again. So, for my own peace of mind/sanity, could anyone hazard a guess to what the fuck is going on? (Just for clarity, my part list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/lggibbo/saved/BnwhMp)
  12. So I've pretty much decided to build in the node 804 (I like cubes), and by pretty much I mean I'm just waiting for it to be delivered. I do have a few loose ends to deal with; I'm definitely going with an AIO watercooler and I like the look of NZXT's Kraken x52 BUT I've only just realised that if you take out both drive cages on the right side of the case (which I probably won't populate anyway), you can fit a 280mm AKA the Kraken x62. The only problem with this is that the pump would have to reach around into the main compartment to mount of the CPU, meaning it would have to fit through the cable management hole at the front of the case. So, long story short, could anyone with experience of either (hopefully both) of these items - the Kraken and the node - help me out? Will the Kraken pump 1) fit through the hole into the main compartment? And 2) reach the CPU and be mountable WITHOUT stretching the tubes? Cheers for any/all answers
  13. So I'm pretty decided on using an mATX case of some sort, preferably a cube case because I like the horizontal motherboard layouts and dislike the GPU sag that often comes with vertical layouts. BUT, I'm hearing not-much-but praise for the Fractal Design Node 804. Up until now my choice has been the Thermaltake Core V21, but pitted against of the Node 804 - and the discovery of the Mnpctech GPU support bracket - I'm not quite so sure anymore. Anyone have any experience with these two cases? Any other case suggestions are welcome too.
