  1. That doesn't sound right... When I checked the compatibillity list it was listed there...
  2. I've heard that XMP can be named different things on different mobos. Any idea what mine could be?
  3. Before you comment, I did read the post on Ryzen and RAM troubleshooting. I still find myself confused though and am scared of fiddling with the the bios. I am running a Ryzen 3 1200 with 8 gigs of Corsair LPX DDR4 RAM rated at 3000 mhz. My motherboard is an Asus b350 m-a. The RAM is capped at 2133 mhz, and I am afraid of fiddling with BIOS settings because I have no idea what anything means. This is a computer build by me for my brother, and I thus want to be extra careful as to not break anything... A little help would be much appreciated!
  4. I am helping my little brother put together his first computer. He will use this computer mostly to watch videos, listen to music, and do some light gaming. He does however want to game more than he does now, and is very exited for Star Wars Battlefront 2, which we plan on playing together. I've looked around online for parts, and am thinking about a system featuring a Ryzen 3 1200 and a 1050 ti. Originally we looked at a more expensive solution (Ryzen 5 1500x and a 1060/rx 570/rx 580) but as GPU's are so damn expensive right now, it seemed unrealistic to spend that money on parts he might not need for what he plans to do with his rig. So now we need your help! We are going to need everything, as in OS (preferably Windows 10), case, GPU, CPU, RAM, PSU, MOBO, and SSD (we already have a HDD), for around 6000 swedish krona (about 730 USD). Help putting this system together would be grately appreciated! Cheers!
  5. Yea I'd love to get a 580. Thing is, they are hella expensive here in Sweden...
  6. Hello! I currently have an XFX 480 RS. I think the performance is great thus far, but it is a bit noisy. Noise is something that I usually prioritize in my build, but when I upgraded my gpu I wanted to get away as cheaply as possible. True enough, I don't find the noise life-ruining, but to the point. I bought my card about one month ago, and I can still return it for a full refund due to the policy of the shop. With the 500 series launch I expected some minor price drops, so I checked the store. It seems I could get an MSI rx 480 gaming X for about 25 USD (300 Swedish krona) more than what I paid for my XFX card. Is this worth it? I have only heard positive things about the MSI card, but I wonder if it will be significantly more quiet and perhaps offer slightly better performance? Is it worth the extra couple of bucks? Yes, I could wait until the 500 series actually releases here in Sweden, but my return period ends in a few days so I need to make a decision soon. So what do you guys think? Thanks!
  7. Hello! I just got and installed a XFX rx480 rs in my computer. I am happy with the performance of the card thus far, but have one issue with it. When the fans are slowing down they start to make a pulsing, vibrating noise. It's really not a big deal but it would be nice to hear if anyone has heard about this and if there is any easy solution to the problem! //Neo
  8. Hello! When waiting for my new graphics card I had to connect my monitor via a VGA cable to my motherboard. When I did this the screen got all fuzzy and slightly darker than it used to be. When I say that I mean that the colors all looked muted and dark. I tried solving this by factory resetting the screen, which arguably made it worse. Now my new card has arrived and when plugging the monitor in I still have the same issue. My brightness is cranked to the max and I can't seem to figure out what to do... Need advice!
  9. Thanks guys! Now I feel confident in my purchase
  10. Thanks for the replies! So the entire "XFX makes one of the worst 480's out there" is not that relevant then?
  11. Hello! I am choosing between getting a brand new Sapphire rx 480 4gb or a second hand (it's been returned to the shop it was purchased from) rx 480 8gb from XFX. The XFX card is the "RS" version, not the "GTR". What do you guys think would be best? 8gb vram would be a nice investment for the future I think but at the same time I have heard bad things about the rs cooler... Need input! Thanks in advance!
  12. Thanks for the replies! So the claim that the 480 suffers from frame drops and fluctuations is not true then? If so, really nice! Could you be willing to give me some examples of these cards? I have looked around but second hand in Sweden seems to be pretty expensive...
  13. Hello! Over the past couple of days I have been searching online and discussing on forums wether I should choose a gtx 1060 (3gb) or a rx 480 (4gb) to upgrade my PC. The answers I get are... conflicting. Generally, when posting on forums and looking online, people tend to favour the rx 480 (4gb) over the 1060 (3gb). They usually state that the 480 performs better than the 1060, is more future proof, and gets you more bang for your buck. Whenever I talk to a tech-support though, they state the opposite. The ones I have talked to claim that the 1060 performs smoother and is all around a more trustworthy card. I have also heard that the 480 can give people framedrops and bugs that nvidia cards don't get. I have also been unable to find the benchmarks in which the 480 outperforms the 1060 in a majority of games. The reviews I have seen that shows benchmarks shows the exakt opposite... What do I make from all this? It would be really nice if someone could bust a few myths and tell me what is actually going on here. Is the 480 a good or bad choice at the current moment? Also, could I expect price drops anytime soon with either company introducing a new product or the like? Thanks in advance!
