  1. After a couple of days of testing at home, I had zero problems. Just to be sure, I updated the BIOS (there was a small update), reinstalled the WiFi card Driver and disabled Sleep completely. I then brought it back to my friends house and had zero problems there as well. So I'm not sure exactly what solved the problem, but I'm just glad it's gone.
  2. I recently built my first PC, which went fairly smooth. I installed Windows 10 and most of the software I intend to use, with the exception of Adobe Cloud applications and Steam games, due to their large size and my poor internet speed at home. I took the computer to a friends house to do those downloads and that's when the problems began. Every time I booted up the computer, anywhere between 5 to 20 minutes later the computer would crash with a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. This happened in a variety of seemingly random scenarios including while doing downloads, while searching the web for solutions and while examining device drivers in Device Manager. It is worth mentioning that it never crashed while entering or returning from sleep or hibernation, nor during shutdown or restarting. We attempted a number of solutions suggested online including: installing the latest drivers (all drivers were installed within the last two days, so all were up to date) disconnecting external devices (we swapped the wireless keyboard and mouse for a wired set to no avail) updating the motherboard BIOS (according to ASUS EZ Update, the latest BIOS was installed) repairing corrupted system files (after running sfc /scannow, no corrupt files were found) connecting to the internet via Ethernet rather than WiFi uninstalling the WiFi adapter driver (although later at home, I noticed the driver was reinstalled automatically at some point, so this may not have helped) The interesting thing is, other than Steam games and Adobe software, nothing new was installed on my PC at my friends house, but it only crashed there. After several hours of fruitless troubleshooting there, I brought the PC home and tested it there for a couple of hours, doing similar tasks, and I was unable to replicate the BSoD. However, since my internet is so poor at home, if my PC crashes every time I try to use faster internet somewhere else, I won't be able to get the wanted software on my computer. I have linked the minidump files and perfmon output. My PC specs are as follows: Windows 10 Home 64 Bit Intel i7 6700K ASUS Z170-A 2x8GB Kingston HyperX Fury EVGA GeForce GTX 970 EVGA Supernova 750W 80+ Gold Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Crucial MX300 750GB SSD (Boot Drive) WD Black 2TB HDD (Storage Drive) ASUS 24X DVD-Writer TP-Link Archer T8E AC1750 WiFi Adapter Cooler Master Master Case Pro 5 I will note that while this was all happening that some software on my PC was altering my BIOS settings for overclocking. I did not wish to set up overclocking and did not knowingly allow any software of mine to edit the BIOS settings. However, whenever I change the BIOS settings back to default, they change back to the overclocked settings when I reach the desktop. I do not believe the two issues are related, however.
