Any recommendation for a new ultrawide monitor?
TheSlothness replied to TheSlothness's topic in Displays
I was not familiar with this monitor. It does look incredible. That was very informative. I should probably have stated that the monitor will be mostly used for windows gaming and linux programming, with the occasional movie. I wasn't aware of the text issue but it certainly something I'm concerned with now. I have heard however that burn-in can be an issue, should I be worried about this during productivity tasks when having one application open for a long time? I am leaning towards the alienware now, with a possible monitor or two on the side for productivity. Either that or holding off on my purchase till the corsair xeneon is more established (I feel a bit uncomfortable being an early adopter). Thank you all for your replies. This has certainly given me alot to thing about. -
Current monitor: Samsung LC34H890WJUXEN 34" - UWQHD 3440 x 1440, 100Hz, Freesync. PC Specs: Ryzen 7 5800X 32GB DDR4 3600MHz RX 6900 XT 16GB Question: Are there any good ultrawide monitors that I could upgrade my current monitor from? I'm not sure if I should go for better image quality (e.g. Dell Alienware AW3423DW) or something larger (e.g. Samsung G9 Odyssey Neo). I'm open to any suggestions.

Planning new PC. Need help choosing a GPU.

Cheers. Isn’t the 6700XT similar in performance to the 3070? There is no budget to be honest. I just don’t want to overspend if I don’t have to. -

Thanks. Looking at benchmarks I got the impression that AMD is better at price for performance at the moment. I also wanted to take advantage of their smart access memory. -
Budget : ~£2,000 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 3440x1440 100hz gaming preferably on high settings (new releases: Battlefield/Horizon 5/Halo) and programming Current System: i5 6600k 16 GB 3000Mhz ram gtx 1060 6gb 2TB SSD Monitors: Samsung 34” 3440x1440 100hz Asus 24” 1080p 60hz HUION 13” graphics tablet New Build Idea: Ryzen 5 5600X CoolerMaster Hyper 212 CPU fan ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz (2x16gb) Corsair 850W RMx, modular 80 PLUS GOLD Question: What graphics card should I get with my new build? I was planning to get the RX6800 but that would mean I’d have to wait another 2 months. Considering how well the other GPU releases went, I’m worried I might not even be able to get one. So do I wait for 6800? Downgrade to 6700XT? Or break budget and get 6900XT?

I have made few posts recently regarding upgrades for my computer. Initial plan months ago was to get a 2070s before Cyberpunk comes out. But this doesn’t seem to be a cost efficient option any more. My next plan was to get the RTX 3080 and a PSU upgrade. But as you all might know it’s impossible to find a 3080 at the moment. Now I’m in a predicament and can’t for the life of me decided. Question: should I try to snatch a 3070 on release date (apparently the stock for these is suppose to better than for 3080) or just wait - possibly till next year - till the 3080 are in stock or AMD releases it’s GPUs? Obviously this is all subjective but I’m looking more for peoples opinions than a solution. Also I’m planning to play on ultra settings on a 3440x1400 monitor.

No worries mate.

Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about. I’m wondering whether I’d be better off just snatching a 3070 on release day.

I want to pre-order a RTX 3080 from overclockers. Has anyone in the UK had any experience with wait times for them? Should I expect to wait weeks or months?

Is it worth upgrading my computer?

I’ve recently upgraded from a 1080p monitor to a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor. My GTX 1060 is beginning to struggle and I’m thinking of upgrading before Cyberpunk. The plan was to buy a RTX 2070 super. However, now I find myself considering a 5700xt or RTX 3070 as well. Due to high demand (I live in UK) I’m worried a 3070 would not get delivered to me before Cyberpunk. Which of these graphics cards would you recommend? My current build: i5 6700k GTX 1060 16GB Ram Asus z170 pro gaming motherboard EVGA supernova g2 550w

Hi, Im looking to buy a new ultrawide monitor but the amount of options is overwhelming. Would anyone be able to recommend a monitor in this price range? Currently, I'm thinking of the ASUS ROG Strix XG43VQ but I'm not sure if a less-wide monitor with higher resolution (1440p) be better.
