  1. For an extra £28 you can get a Gaming Edition 780 overclocked out the box, and it also comes with a free game: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-msi-gtx-780-twin-frozr-oc-gaming-28nm-pcie-30-(x16)-6008mhz-gddr5-gpu-954mhz-boost-1006mhz-cores
  2. Hi everyone, so I am considering upgrading to Windows 8.1, but I have a spare drive in my PC which I use just to store Steam/Origin games on and I am wondering if after I upgrade will I need to re-format that drive or will it be recognised and be able to be used as soon as I connect it after installing 8.1. I am coming from Windows 7 by the way and the drive was originally formatted in Windows 7 to NTFS format. Thanks, Paul :-)
  3. I'm not worried about the rooting process, I've done that on quite a few phones, it's just the warranty thing I was worried about but I just read there on cyanogenmods website that your phone doesn't need to be rooted, but it will be factory reset. So I might back this thing up and give it a shot...
  4. I tried installing Nova Launcher there to see if that would help take the strain of TouchWiz away at all but I guess its just running over top of it because it's not made a difference and besides that's only a home screen replacement. However, do you think rooting it to Cyangeon mod would help? I know it's quite an extreme measure but I've been wanting to do that for quite some time now I just always wanted to wait till my warranty was up but I'd have to wait till September for that and this is getting really annoying
  5. I'm using android 4.3 but it was a Samsung firmware update I updated it to
  6. Yeh. I got it repaired at one of their certified service centres so that keeps the warranty
  7. I didn't, I do appreciate the help but I will keep an eye out but there is also weird things running in the background like Vine (that gets updated quite a lot now that I think of it) which I haven't physically opened in like a week so I don't know why that would even be running in the background. Then there's also things I expect like Facebook messenger which understandably needs to be running to check for new messages and such, but thats not even using that much. Funnily enough, the two biggest RAM hogs are the Samsung keyboard and the settings app, which I have to launch to view RAM usage (the settings app is actually using 99MB of RAM - doesn't that seem a bit high?)
  8. I'll put that in the last resort pile. If the problem persists then I'll contact Samsung and ask if they have had any other reports of this issue and if they haven't then maybe I'll try and get a replacement or something because it is still under warranty, but I'll only try that after I have completely ruled out a software problem
  9. I'm mot disagreeing with you. I appreciate the help I'm just saying that almost nothing has changed before the update (apart from all the app updates) and that my RAM usage seems perfectly normal, oh and it just happened there, 715MB of RAM available.
  10. It was doing this pretty much straight after I updated my phone so that means I hadn't installed any more apps compared to before I dropped my phone. The only app I have installed after getting my phone fixed is Flappy Bird but this has been happening a while before I installed that, but when I got my phone back there was A LOT of updates for apps so unless one of them got a bad update and is now using a lot of RAM I shouldn't see why RAM would be a problem
  11. Yeh, it doesn't seem to be any higher than before I got it repaired/updated. Currently while writing this on my phone, with only this browser open (take in to consideration background/always running apps as well) it is at 1.25GB usage out of 1.78GB available.
  12. I'd rather not go through all the hassle of restoring it, but I never leave that many apps running at one time so it should always be ok for RAM
  13. I don't press it twice though, that's the thing. I press it one short press, wait a second and the multitasking thing comes up.
  14. It's not lagging because I'm not holding in the home button and the multitasking thing still comes up. My phone was running perfectly fine before this so it is definitely a software problem or something to do with me getting it repaired. It still does everything perfectly fine and very fast
  15. Hi, so last month I got my S4 screen repaired after it had been out of action for a month (dropped it, entire screen broke) and when I got it back it gave me a notification telling me it had a software update waiting and I tried to download it on my phone but it said something about the servers and that it couldn't be downloaded and told me to download it through Kies, so I hooked it up to Kies and sure enough there was a firmware update for it. So I downloaded it and installed it and now I'm having a problem. Like 3 out of 5 times when I press the home button once to go to my homescreen it'll not do anything for a second then the multitasking screen will come up and that is only meant to come up when you hold in the home button, so it is recognising my one tap presses as holding in the button and it is very annoying (sometimes it won't do it for hours then randomly start doing it a lot). However, I installed the firmware update as soon as I got home from getting it repaired so I'm not entirely sure if this is doing this because of the firmware update or if the guy repairing my phone screwed something up. So, my question to the S4 owners is if you have installed the update and if you are experiencing this problem or if it's just me. P.S. My phone never did this before the repair/update Thanks!
  16. Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure everything was normal and (heavy) load temps don't really go above 72C so I'm all good there
  17. Hi, So I recently moved my PC to a different location in my room (from on my floor to under my desk) and - as a result - the idle temp has went up as things like my legs are getting in the way of the intake fans more often. My idle temps are now around 34/35C and I am just wondering if these are still all cool (see what I did there) temps for a GTX 770? Thanks!
  18. So I've been looking in to tempered glass screen protectors recently and I've decided that I'm going to get one, but the problem is that there is loads to choose from. The three brands which I have narrowed it down to are Spigen, Mime and iLoome (if there are any other brands which you feel are good then feel free to recommend them). I was originally just going to go for the Spigen Glas.tR, but then I discovered these other options (iLoome and Mime basically only have one option and not multiple like Spigen so that's why I have not named any specific models for them). So which out of these three brands are the best if you guys have ever had any experience with them. They are all pretty similar but I just want to be sure before spending so much money on one. Thanks, Paul. p.s. I'm using a Galaxy S4 if that makes any difference
  19. Just got it back and nothing seems to be gone or anything so that's all good. I couldnt back it up anyway since when I tried to connect it to Kies it asked for my password, but the whole display was gone plus digitiser so I couldnt get in to my data anyway, but it doesn't matter anymore. Just happy it's fixed
  20. So tomorrow I am going to have my Galaxy S4 repaired, but I am wondering if I should wipe what's on it first? It's a hardware problem, so I'm not worried about losing my data due to software repairs etc, but I'm just a bit paranoid I guess. I mean, obviously they are not technically allowed to look at what's on it, but there is nothing stopping them. I do have a passcode on it, but ofcourse that isn't the most secure thing ever and I'm sure they would probably easily be able to get round that, especially in a shop which repairs phones... so what do you guys think? Should I go for it, or am I just being paranoid?
  21. Hi, so I'm considering joining the IPS team, but I don't know which one to choose. I don't really care too much about any fancy features, I just care about pure display quality and low enough latency (7ms or lower) so I'm wondering which one should I get if my budget is £250/$412 maximum? I really wouldn't want anything above 24" (23" would be perfect) and I would also like it to be 1080p. So do you guys have any suggestions? I was looking at some of the ASUS ones with the extremely thin bezels and they looked (aesthetically) amazing so if there was anything that looked like that that would also be great, but that would just be a nice extra. Thanks!
  22. You know, I was really looking forward to see what they were going to do with that and they give it that horrible, cheap, plastic clear shroud. Honestly, it just ruins the whole card for me.
  23. Ohh, well the more you know, eh. Thanks anyway man
