I know that and it does get rid of the freeze but how would I go about overclocking the cpu?

I see so what would you recommend I try?

Ah yes When I restore to factor settings the p95 test works with out the freeze up I just dont understand why i get a crash without actual overclocking

I have been trying to overclock my 8350 for a few months now. I have been follows a guide posted by youtuber jay2cents. That is the video I am refering to. Now when I first run my prime 95 I am fine no crash temps do not go above 50c. My specs are windows 10 64 bit amd fx 8350 stock clock speeds motherboard is asus m5a97 le r 2.0 psu is 750w 80plus bronze cooler is cooler master hyper 212 evo now the issue occurs when doing the setting changes he refers to I reboot fine and I have not tunrned up my north bridge bus speed or my cpu mulitplier yet. however when i run prime 95 again I get a lock up just a minute or so into the test.

currently using a corsair m65 mouse with a cm storm keyboard (hate this keyboard) best of luck to everyone!
