  1. Pardon me for being such a noob. Most articles I found on the net says most graphics cards usually supports upto 4 displays only. And that there are special cards built for the purpose of handling more displays. Even on the specs of Zotac GTX 1080 amp extreme says it can handle only quad displays. So I guess that means if I use the 4 port MST hub, I will not be able to use all the remaining ports on the GTX 1080? Please enlighten me.
  2. Do I really need "high-end, daisy chainable monitors"? I was hoping regular monitors would work with that MST Hub... 12 instances on a single PC is already possible with Aster. I can simply just add more cheap graphics cards, but I'm sure the cables will be a mess. If it works that would justify a purchase of a GTX 1080. This is our current setup with 3 terminals on a GTX 750Ti. I don't know if it is possible to make the built-in video ports work with the GTX750Ti. I can't make it work, I use a usb hub to connect 3 keyboards and 3 mice.
  3. These are my reasons: -At night I will use the PC for gaming with maybe 1-3 monitors. -I plan to buy a Vive, use it with one monitor -I currently have 4 monitors with DVI port. I was hoping they would still work with the adapter I mentioned. I was also hoping I could use cheap HDMI/DVI 1080p monitors for this setup too. -The 12 monitor maximum I'm asking was because a program I use, Aster, can handle a max of 12 users per PC. -Easier administration of the PC, since there will only be one to worry about. -My current setup is just 3 terminals in one PC, Since my GTX 750Ti only has 3 ports (1 DVI, 1 HDMI, 1 VGA port) @wrathoftheturkey I think you can run multiple instances of steam too with Aster, but you have to run the other instances in Sandbox.
  4. Last week, I asked a similar question, https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/633977-5x-1080p-monitors-on-a-single-graphics-card-possible/ Now I am curious whether a single GTX 1080 could handle 12 (TWELVE) 1080p monitors, with 4 monitors connected to each displayport using these adapters: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G3BB4414&cm_re=club_3d-_-14-997-006-_-Product -maybe up to 14 monitors if I include the DVI and HDMI ports too -I plan to use DP to DVI cables on the first 4 monitors that I already have existing, that is if the setup works. Copy-paste from my previous post: "By day, I will use the PC in a small home office, with 5 12 users, each with his own monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Mostly for clerical jobs, but one of them needs to render 3D projects very often. By night, I will use the PC for gaming. (just 1 monitor for gaming, and a Vive when I order it in a few months)"
  5. Thanks for the replies! I currently have a 3 user setup with a GTX 750Ti. So, I'll be buying 2 more monitors and a GTX 980Ti/1080. I guess one 4K and another 1080p will do. I chose 1080p's just so that the office setup looks cleaner - same brand, size, and resolution.
  6. I am planning to purchase either a GTX 980Ti or GTX 1080. My main concern is: Can a single card handle 5x 1080p monitors? The 5x monitor setup is not intended for gaming, but I plan to game on this pc too with only one monitor and/or an htc vive. By day, I will use the PC in a small home office, with 5 users, each with his own monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Mostly for clerical jobs, but one of them needs to render 3D projects very often. By night, I will use the PC for gaming. Thanks for any insight.
