  1. okay i might try that, thanks! - if anyone else has more things i could try, keep it coming!

  3. but wont i loose all my data? is there no other way? also what is refreshing? ive heard of resetting but not refreshing.
  4. so ive been having some media problems, and finally decided to use sfc /scannow as i saw someone recommend it, after it finished i got the message "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log." or something like that. ive been looking for hours and hours and i honestly cant seem to find a fix. i really think this is the cause of the media problems, so i wish i could find out how to fix the corrupt files. i tried the following another sfc /scannow and still got the same result, the corrupt files issue DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and all of the above again in safe mode. the dism commands say they worked (i think), but the "sfc scannow" still says the same corrupt file error. any help on how to solve this?
  5. its cool, thanks for the help so far, appreciate it.
  6. okay thanks, ill try that if all else fails! do you know how to fix the "corrupt files"? because i think that might be the problem, ive looked online for hours and cant seem to find a fix i tried the following another sf /scannow and still got the same issue DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and all of the above again in safe mode. the dism commands say they worked, but the "sfc scannow" still says the same corrupt file error. any help on how to solve this?
  7. i see, so if i were to save my wifi driver, do i just put it on a usb drive and then insert it after uninstalling the pci root complex?
  8. im not sure its a driver issue, i was trying to update them because someone recommended it to me on a forum. sorry to ask, but im kinda a noob at these things, im using wifi, not ethernet, can i still do what you stated? and if so, could you please explain in more detail how? im kinda confused about the first half.
  9. acer aspire v15 (v3 575G-58HX) intel core i5 6200U nvidia 940m 4 gb of ram (i upgraded to 8 a few months earlier) windows 10 home 64 bit ive been having some problems lately, it only happens sometimes (on some restarts or wake ups from sleep) the problem, when it does happen, causes the following (from what ive experience so far) - cant play any video file - youtube and instagram videos play, but with no audio - my microphone wont work on google.com, it just shows a white screen with a white mic logo, instead of picking up the sound. - neither does the recorder app in windows 10 work, just gets stuck on the white logo, almost like pausing the animation same as the google one. - when i try troubleshooting sound problems by right clicking the speaker icon in taskbar, its stuck at checking audio service status, never moving to the next step. - also the playback and recording devices dont launch when clicked, nor does sound app. so ive updated windows to the latest version, going to be updating drivers soon, but idk if i should download the vga drivers from acers website as i have later ones for my nvidia and intel. let me know! also should i get bios firmware update? here is the link to my laptops drivers from acer ---> LINK ive also tried doing an "sfc /scannow" as others online have recommended it on forums, but when it completed, i get the following error "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log." something like that HELP ME PLEASE! about the drivers, how to fix the corrupt sfc files and maybe inturn fix the media problems.

  14. ive been having problems with a laptop i purchased, but it wasnt bothering me too much a while back so i ignored it. but now that ive been using the laptop alot more it gets fairly annoying. the problem happens only sometimes, if i restart my laptop it will probably be gone, or i might have to restart it twice before its gone. and again while turning it on the next time, theres a chance it will be there. ive tried restoring to factory settings twice and looked online for a while, but couldnt find anything. the problem, when it does happen, causes the following (from what ive experience so far) - cant play any video file - youtube and instagram videos play, but with no audio - my microphone wont work on google.com, it just shows a white screen with a white mic logo, instead of picking up the sound. - neither does the recorder app in windows 10 work, just gets stuck on the white logo, almost like pausing the animation same as the google one. - when i try troubleshooting sound problems by right clicking the speaker icon in taskbar, its stuck at checking audio service status, never moving to the next step. - also the playback and recording devices dont launch when clicked, nor does sound app. those are what ive noticed so far, not sure what else happens. please help me fix this as i have no idea whats even causing it in the slightest, any help appreciated!
