  1. well I just found an Samsung ATIV Book 6 for the same price as the Envy 15, when the price is usually 100 to 200 dollars higher. Specs: i5 3230 M CPU, 8GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Win 8, 15.6'' screen, HD 8850M, VGA & HDMI out, 2 USB2, 2 USB3, no optical, JBL sound solution. Now I'm leaning towards the Samsung yey.. anyone with an ATIV Book 6 with an i5 Core that can share their experience? (Reviews for this configuration are surprisingly scarce).
  2. These laptops are close to 900 USD and that's the most I can stretch out... otherwise I would have to face my wife and how she told me that I should game on my 2000 dollar PC and buy a work-only laptop pro tip: you do not face wives but to say: "i love you, you were right"
  3. Hi! So... I need a laptop for work and I currently do not have a PC (I am working on my budget to build one). I am an obsessive gamer and avid music listener. The laptop I want would need to have sufficient storage (1TB is ok), wide enough screen (15.6'' would be ideal), a good processor, at least 8 GB of RAM, a nice sound system and a dedicated graphics card would be ideal, because I know myself and I will use this laptop 40 % to work and 60 % to listen to music/watch movies/game. I am currently undecided between two laptops, they cost basically the same (20 dollars difference between them) and their features are mostly the same except on some key points. Notice: the coding of the HP Envy ends with "LA" because I live in LatinAmerica... 1) HP Envy 15 (j012LA): AMD A10 5750M CPU, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, 15.6'' screen, Win8, HD 8750M, Beats audio (4 speakers & two subwoofers), only HDMI out, 4 USB3 ports, no optical drive. 2) MSI CX 61: i5 4200M CPU, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD, 15.6'' screen, Win8, GT 740M, stereo audio, VGA & HDMI out, 2 USB3 ports 1 USB2 port, DVD-RW. Why I'm undecided: Definately the Envy 15 seems to have the advantage on storage, audio solution and overall technology (comes with 4 USB3 ports). But my problem is that I have never experienced the A10 5750M and benchmarks tell me that the i5 4200M is the better processor, also the D-Sub out on the CX60 could come in handy in a work-related situation, although this is unlikely since I work from home 95% of the time, the same goes for the DVD-RW, its nice to have for a work related necessity but I would lie if I say I ever use it. You could basically say that my biggest issue is the CPU. Do you have an experience with the A10 5750M? I know its not better than the i5 4200 M, but is it good enough? Or maybe you have an experience with either Laptop as a whole, I would appreciate a comment then too!
  4. I try to use only earbuds when out on the streets. Headphones are restricted for home usage. Why? Because I think I look silly with them on, I need them to be easily removable in case of emergency, and I don't want to isolate myself from the world around me... I'd much rather listen to music than listen to the train coming or the conversations of endless people around me, but I need to be aware of the people around me and the incoming train, I don't wanna become rail mush because I was going for superb noise cancelling and extreme audio quality. (almost happened to me once) I also buy cheaper earbuds and more expensive headphones, since earbuds go with me to the streets, they are more inconspicuous and would deter a would be robber from becoming one thanks to my unawareness. The expensive headphones remain safely in my home where they are free from the sillyness and the cable tangling
  5. any news for this? I don't wanna miss the announcement

  7. You will be able to Bing with Internet Explorer while paired to your Zune and shout at your Xbox One to let you watch TV!
  8. Lets start by clearing the air: I don't know banana about sound. Say you have a motherboard with Digital audio connectors and 6 analog jacks, with a dedicated SoundBlaster thingie (I'm talking about the MSI Z87 GD65) What do you hook up to it to make the most out of its audio solution? I'm looking at surround speakers and regardless of their capability (5.1 or 7.1) they all seem to end up in a hub (usually the SubWoofer) that centralizes all cables and runs only a couple to the actual motherboard. This works, but it doesn't seem to be the best way to take advantage of what the motherboard advertises... So what kinda sound system can you hook up directly to the motherboard to make the most out of the integrated sound solution?
  9. Specifically: Prime95 will stress test your CPU and Unigine Heaven will do so for your GPU. Watch both tests while they run, see if this problem replicates itself while running them. You can always reseat your 24 pin (and 4 pin or 8 pin suplemental power connector) and your GPU connectors. What PSU do you have?
