He is running firestrike extreme. No you don't.

So stock v stock the 1070 is about 5% faster. Unfortunately even though the clock speeds get crazy, the 1070's don't gain nearly as much performance when overclocked as the 980ti.

The 1070 gains like a max of 10% from overclocking while the 980ti easily goes 15-25%. Thus a 980ti is likely to be as good or better in numerous situations OC to OC. With the major caveat of power ofc.

Ehh seems about right. Nothing too bad. It is possible (esp if using stock thermal paste) that the paste has just dried up a bit and now is performing a bit worse. It isn't anything I'd worry about.

That said 1.3V at 4.4 is a pretty poor overclock. You should be able to dial down the voltage a little bit (even to 1.25V should be easy) and still be stable. That might drop load temps by 3-4C.

Just to update, pump was DOA. Idle temps now down to 24C.

Alright guys. Been reading through some overclocking guides. JJ from ASUS said that some Haswells like voltage some don't. Every chip is different.

Right now I am stress testing 4.5 Ghz at 1.35 and am getting average temps around 72 degrees C... do you think thats a good place to stop with an H100i or could I try for 4.6 @ 1.40? I'm not sure if the extra 100 Mhz is really worth it to me. I may just be content with 4.5 at 1.35 as that seems that it would still be a nice improvement.

    Thanks!

Using Aida64 as my stress test btw, been going at it for a while. One core seems to run hotter, could I back that one down to 4.4 and the others up to 4.6? What effect would that have? I remember seeing in the BIOS that I could set sync all cores, or per core.

    Cosmos, thank you!

I actually just found this information too on Corsair's website, I wondered what that port was earlier when I was installing it.
