  1. I want a PC to put with my TV to play the games in the living room
  2. I have heard the chrome blocking can lag behind but If I click through the chrome warning my antivirus software still gives popups saying it is blocking intrusions. So I don't know whether it is a case of my antivirus being silly (not uncommon) or if there are still issues.
  3. Is anyone else getting the chrome alert for malware when they visit PCPer? And does the team know? or can they be notified so they can fix it?
  4. This was honestly my favourite LTT video since, idk, a long time... Some very funny parts and very interesting topic matter. Well done team! And for everyone wondering I do believe the part 1a thing was also a joke given how much flak their previous multi-part videos have been... you know their humour.
  5. My family just got a new TV but we don't have a good way to play media from a PC to it so a NUC as an HTPC would be fantastic!
  6. Thanks for doing lots of giveaways Linus Favourite item would have to be the Kuhler 1250 simply because my cooler is a bit average and I wouldn't mind a better one.
  7. I think the triple slot design is really good because for my system I have no other expansion cards to get in the way!
  8. favourite thing is rear buttons, side buttons are so annoying at times
  9. Looks like a fantastic phone. I have been holding out on buying a smartphone as I don't have much money and I need lots of space for music and videos and such. It is disappointing that nobody includes microSD these days, but now there is One. Haha dat pun
  10. Hi I am looking at buying an AC router and I recall Linus buying one that he said was particularly good after it being recommended to him by Wendell from Tek Syndicate. However, I can't seem to find any videos where it was mentioned, so it would be much appreciated if someone could tell me what model it was. Thanks.
  11. I would highly recommended reading the Audio FAQ sticky http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/18617-the-audio-boards-frequently-asked-questions-pre-answered/ and following up the links in that post.
  12. I am adding you as a friend, my account is MrTitskie, may or may not get around to playing with you but we shall see
  13. So I'm helping a friend to upgrade his computer and we are (of course) looking for a CPU to buy. So the question I pose to you forum members is i7 2600k new on eBay for $280 or 4770k new from a retail store for $379. We may have some trouble finding motherboards for the 2600k but we'll manage. So the main point I was considering was of course the price and the weigh up of overclocking headroom of the parts (I believe sandybridge should overclock better) vs IPC performance. What do you all reckon? Thanks
  14. I totally agree with that but I am explicitly not discussing the point of what does happen in a real-world scenario (because I believe Linus on that) but rather why does this happen considering the points i made in the OP?
  15. As I am sure many of us have heard Linus repeatedly states that CPUs produce more heat than GPUs and the only reason a GPU runs hotter is because of the limited space (two slots) to put a cooler which for a CPU can often be as big as you like. Now I am not claiming that I know better, and that Linus is wrong, but in many cases a GPU draws significantly more power than a CPU. In the case of my PC I have an i5-2500k with a TDP of 95W and a GTX 580 with a TDP of 244W. Now, to me it would make sense that a component that draws more power will create more heat. Afterall, as many of us will know if you have done any basic physics, energy does not simply disappear and instead is converted into other forms which in the case of PC parts is predominantly heat. Now if we have more energy going into the GPU it would only make sense to me that more waste heat must be produced than from a CPU. If any of you can clarify and support Linus' information in this situation it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
