  1. Thank you for the fast reply! I guess I freaked out a little by the extreme difference in temps. I'll head out and buy some new paste and find the appropriate LTT video for cleaning. Thanks again.
  2. So, I've been running my 5820k with a 120mm AIO liquid setup from cooler master for a couple of years now, and I'll be honest in that I quit monitoring temps for a while seeing as for a long time everything was normal. Well now I'm noticing that one of my core temps is sitting at 98 C while the rest are 36-55? I've done some google foo but all I'm seeing is people asking about temps 10ish or so degrees higher. I'm suspecting I need to redo my thermal paste but just thought I'd pop in here and ask around. I'm showing the same temps on Open hardware monitor and Corsair Link. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
  3. So you think it'll hold strong for a few more years? I can surely find a decent cheaper water cooling setup and OC it as much as possible. The guy that had the chip before never OC'd at all so I'm not sure how high it will go, but hey its not been pushed much so I'm sure it has life left. I'm looking at some reviews now on the ryzen chips. You guys' arguments has me intrigued=]
  4. I'm just getting home from work guys, and I'm going to sit down and read all of this. Exactly what I was hoping for thank you guys so much for your views. I'll keep updated!
  5. HI! Thank you ahead of time for reading this. Any advice is greatly appreciated!! I wanted to try and build a budget gaming setup for my wife, and I have a few spare parts laying around, I don't have to use all of them, but would like to use what I can. I have 2x8gb sticks of ADATA XPG Z1 DDR4 2400 RAM, an EVGA GTX 970 (one of the OC versions), an ULTRA LSP v2 750W PSU, Corsair 500r case, sapphire r9-270x(no use I guess), and I've got an i5-2500k sitting in a non working motherboard. the RAM in that system is corsair vengence DDR3 1600mhz (2x4) . Maybe an old 500g HDD laying around. I wanted to spend around 500 bucks. I must mention that I have all peripherals including monitor aside from a mouse. Again any input or ideas are greatly appreciated. Edit: I guess what I'm asking is what would a decent CPU/MOBO using some of what I have. I can figure the rest out =]
  6. Ok fellas, I've got my second 980 ti hybrid on the way and I'm ready to purchase a monitor. At first I had my eyes set on the ASUS pg27AQ, but then I discovered the pg348q. I think that I want the wide screen. I don't play a whole lot of FPS other than csgo on occasion, but mainly games like witcher 3, WoW, FO4, the new Doom maybe. I love RPGs and games I can get immersed in. My issue is that I'm reading ALOT of comments about the back light bleed. It almost seems as if I'm guaranteed to get a panel with some. This scares me. $1200 is a whole lot for me (worth tho, for a good time=p). Is there not a fix? Will I be able to deal with it? Any suggestions as to another choice? Let me know what you smarter then I people think! THANKS!
  7. Thanks friend. EVGA GTX 980 ti hybrid numero dos and SLI pro bridge is in the mail! You're awesome, thanks again for the help. Now off to the monitors section to see what those guys think! =p
  8. Exactly as the title says, will they fit and work well with this setup? I see that I should use the first and third slots, which will put the oversized cards right next to each other. It seems they should fit, but they are literally side by side. Any input is welcomed THANKS! Also, what SLI bridge should I use? Am I right that the new HB pro bridges only double the bandwidth for the the 10 series cards? Again, thank you.
  9. SO, is there not a substantial amount of benefit in saving up for the 5930k to access the 40 lanes? If my GPUs are running 16x/8x, its not literally cutting the speed of my second GPU in half (I'm sorry, I may be a little slow and I'm still learning)? The m.s drive would be for games primarily, as I already have a cheapish sata SSD with my OS and another larger sata SSD for photo/video. I can't, as I believe you are saying, think of anything else that I would need that uses PCIE 3.0 or that would be affected by it. I just want the best possible performance at the most sensible price considering what I already have. I did watch a couple videos, and I think that I know the answer to my question, but I want to make sure. Probably because I don't understand exactly what the difference in performance a high end GPU using 8 lanes versus the same GPU using 16 lanes means to me. Ok last thought here.... that build's awesome there friend and that you named it after one of my favorite, nay favorite, series of epic fantasy novels is pretty badass. Thanks for the help. I bet you can't tell my finger is itching to push the purchase button =p
  10. Ok guys, I'm rocking the X-99a from ASUS and the i7 5820k. I've been looking at picking up another gtx 980ti hybrid to run SLI with the one I already have. Problem is I do not full yunderstrand the performance because of my 28 lanes instead of 40. Also, I had wanted to pick up an m.2 SSD but from what I can tell, I dont have the right equipment to make good use of SLI and m.2? I've watched some videos and I have some hope now but I dont fully understand. Can anyone give me some insight on this? Is this a good idea, or even possible at all? Thanks ahead of time guys!
