  1. I recently bought this Acer Aspire 5 a515 51g laptop and it was preloaded with windows 10 home edition single language. The specs of my laptop is as follows: CPU- i5 8th gen 8250U 1.60~1.80GHZ (boost to 3.4ghz) GPU- NVidia GeForce Mx150 Display- 15.6inch 16:9 1366x768 HDD- 1tb wd 5400rpm RAM- 8gb ddr4 SSD- none OS(current)- Windows 10 home single language (version- 1709, build- 16299.309) Earlier it used to give me 5-6 hours of average battery life when I’m running on battery saver mode, that said I also used to tune down unnecessary things such as cpu max power consumption level to 99% on battery, brightness to minimum, disabled background apps and turning on the battery saver. I noticed that even on battery saver with power limit to 75% the cpu would go up to 1.57-1.61ghz on peak requirements (although not necessarily cpu load being 100%, I’m talking about watching videos browsing copying stuffs etc.), it’d go up to 3.3ghz or so under stress and when idle it’d automatically tune itself down to around 0.80ghz or 0.50ghz thus saving power. Now after a recent update of windows, I found out that the average battery life has gone down by more than an hour or so, now it shows an average battery life of 4hr30mins to 5hrs after a full charge with the same settings. I also noticed that even in the idle state the cpu wouldn’t undervolt itself and it remains at its peak power state i.e. at 1.57-1.61ghz at 75% power. I suspect that there’s some hidden service or app that was added after the update that requests the cpu to run at its peak clock. The interesting thing is that the cpu load at idle is 0-1%. I couldn’t find any app which is consuming the cpu that is making it run at its peak clock. This is affecting my battery life. Has anyone any idea to what it might be and its possible fix? I’ve already tried bios- there’s no option to tweak the cpu over there. I’m currently running the cpu at 10%(0.40ghz) power state to conserve battery for my casual works which includes writing, browsing and watching videos, but it’s kind of sluggish at times when I open too many tabs or switch between apps or run any big sized video. Earlier I wouldn’t have to worry about it because the cpu would automatically ramp itself up to its needs and tune down during casual stuffs to conserve the battery. It’s not the same experience anymore. Any suggestion will be helpful. Thank you.
  2. So this is kinda weird problem, I've downloaded The Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited and installed it, made my avatar and when I hit that PLAY button I'm stuck at the 'logging in' screen for like a minute and then im redirected to the account login page with the error message "sorry a problem has occured try logging in after some time". I tried to run this game on my cellular 4g data via usb tethering after some time and guess what it works perfectly. But for some reason it won't work with my broadband(6mbps). Any solutions for this? I've already tried port forwarding, Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks! PC spec: intel i7 6700 kingston hyperx 2133 ddr4 8gb x2 asus strix gtx 1060 6gb wd blue 1tb x2 windows 10 pro x64 broadband- 6mbps
  3. Hi, I use a Zotac gtx 960 amp 4gb edition gpu and it hits 80°C+ in most cases if the fans are kept at auto during summer. I use msi afterburner to manually tweak the fan settings at 1:1 and then it hovers around 70-75°C mostly. So there's a slider named 'Temperature limit' and I had kept it at 65°C and automatically the 'power limit' slider came down to 46%. If I keep the temperature target at 70 the power remains at 64% and 75C for 80% power. While it does a great job keeping the temperature at bay but I'm worried if under-powering the card would affect its longevity or performance in any way(so far I haven't noticed any change in performance). I had tested witcher 3, gta v, nfs 2k16 and a few other games and it was the same result in general, witcher 3 being on the higher side. I also did a testing with furmark abd got similar result. Is it okay to use the temperature targets like this? Or is it okay to keep the card at manual? And should I install more cabinet fans? Links to the pics of my cabinet below: & My full pc spec:Cpu: Intel Core i7 6700Gpu: Zotac gtx 960 amp 4gbRam: Kingston Hyperx fury 8gb 2133 x2Mobo: Gigabyte B150M-D3HPsu: Xfx pro 650w gaming edition bronze 80Hdd: Wd 1tb blueCase: Cooler master N300Cooling: 3x 120mm cooler master sickle flow for exhaust and hyper 103 for cpu. (the case is well ventilated and cables are well managed to keep a negative air pressure inside) Any suggestion or help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  4. I recently upgraded my cpu to i7 6700(non k as i don't oc), other components are a zotac gtx 970, kingston hyperx fury 8gb on a gigabyte b150m d3h motherboard and 1tb wd green hdd. I noticed that during my session with The Division the cpu liad spikes up to as high as 100%. Mostly it stays somewhere between 80-95% and for the rest part it hovers around 60-70%. No issues with Fps though, I recieve a solid 60+ for the most part. almost everything is set to high except those fog and wind affected snow details, aa turned off and shadows lowered. While for the rest of the big titles like crysis 3, watch dogs, GTA V, The witcher 3, The crew the load is generally in between 30-60%(everything set to ultra). Is this normal? If this game(the division) maxes out this Cpu I'm worried how this Cpu is gonna run upcoming titles like Ghost recon wildlands, watch dogs 2, battlefield 1, and many other. I usualy play at 1600x1024 resolution. Any thoughts?
  5. I already own the GTX 970, don't plan to change the gpu for another year. I am currently on FX 6300 and it ran almost all games without any hitch. Its with The Division that the cpu got maxed out(100% load) even at medium settings and the occasional stutters, other than that everything else worked just fine with max settings. I'vealready player RotTR, FC4, BF4-Hardline, Crysis3, GTA V, Hitman 2016, Watchdogs, etc at a decent fps maxing almkst everything out. I play at a maximum resolution of 1600x900. I recently saw some videos that a stock i7 6700 @3.7ghz out performs a i5 6600k @4.6ghz by a few percent. The fps is more or less the same with the i5 being a few notch lower, but the i7 has considerably lower load in gaming than i5 and that's probably due to HT. Link to the videos-https://youtu.be/f9cVxka2fns, https://youtu.be/EhaB1dqYv_I, https://youtu.be/IaONtFxNbDo, https://youtu.be/MjWd-59OJyU. So what is the final verdict?
  6. As asked in the title, I had a lot of confusion and went through a lot of benchmarking videos and reviews but none was able to answer this particular obvious question- will it be enough for the next 3 years at least? I am not concerned about few drops in Fps, I'm worried about the cpu load and is this cpu gonna be maxed by upcoming games? I don't OC also don't play at 1080p so please try not to suggest an i5 6600k as alternative. Thank you P.S. I'll be using a GTX 970 and plan to use Gigabyte B150m d3h with 8gb x2 kingston hyperx fury. Will be playing games mostly like Battlefield 4, battlefield 1, crysis 3, ghost recon wildlands, watch dogs 2,gears of war 4, mass effect andromeda, GTA V, witcher 3, Kingdom Come delivernace, rise of the tomb raider, the division, etc.
