  1. Alrighty, First of all, thanks to the (very expensive) cables I had on me I almost didn't get into the Oktoberfest-tent. (Bought them on my way there) Second of all, it's fixed! I am now using DP -> miniDP so I will probably return the DVI cable as it cost me an effing fortune (34€ instead of like 10€ from Amazon...) Thanks a lot for your help! It was probably pretty obvious, but as I never encountered a problem like this before, it didn't pop into my mind. Didn't think I will learn something new after leaving school
  2. Thanks for the input. The cable may be broken as you said. When set to 640x480 @ 120hz, it works fine. Any resolution higher than that, or 144hz and it goes red again. Gonna try and search for another DVI cable in my magical box of a million random cables. If I can't find one I will fly out and grab a new one aswell as a DP -> miniDP adapter. Will update, but for now, thanks!
  3. As I have stated in my post, I am using a DVI cable as my GPU does not support regular Display Port. The cable should be completely fine, although I can't test it as it is the only one I have on me right now. I will be leaving the house shortly to grab a DP -> mini-DP adapter, will update if I am back.
  4. Hey guys, So I just received my new monitor (AOC G2460PF) which is a 1080p/144hz model. Of course I set it up right away, including the driver installation as instructed (letting windows search for the driver on the included driver CD) So far so good, now I could set the monitor 144hz, which I did right away. The result was an abomination... The whole display is now displaying everything in red and the image isn't pretty at all, distorted, doesn't look like 1080p anymore. Picture included, of course but it looks way worse than that in real life. The 144hz aspect does indeed work, but it isn't usable at this point. I am using the latest version of Windows 10, my GPU is the Gigabyte HD7970 which the display is connected to via DVI. I would only have the option to use mini-DP as the GPU doesn't support standard DP. What can I do? EDIT: I have now also completely wiped the display driver and installed a new one -> nothing changed Same problem occurs when only using the AOC monitor (I have read in another forum that may have been the problem because some GPUs don't support multiple different refresh rates) -> also didn't do anything What's weird aswell is that Freesync is shown to not be supported by Radeon Settings, although it should be. Thanks in advance, ~RundesDreieck
  5. Of course. I am not so dumb as to just put foil on my MB If something occurs, I will think of a way. Of course only if it's really bad.
  6. Thanks fot the input! I have also thought about a seperate solution. However, my income is very limited and I have many things to save up for. An audio solution was not planned in the near future, but the G633 is now pretty much unusable unless I don't move my head at all. I will probably opt for the Cloud 2, since it has a USB Dac included and doesn't suffer from the hiss because of it, even if the sound quality is shit. My buddies will have to live with that until I can afford a decent sound card, if my Z97-P even produces that static hiss. Gonna delay my new GPU by another few months. Geez. First my phone breaks, then my headset. D:
  7. Hey! So, my G633 (which I very much liked) has some very grave issues with the micro USB slot. Sometimes, if I move it, the headset just stops working for a few seconds. Unfortunately it just fell out of warranty and I don't have the money to buy another right now. This is why I am looking at the best options for the money I have (which is 90-100€ at max). So far, I have shrunk down my list of options to the Cloud Revolver and Cloud 2. I've leaned towards the Revolver until I saw this video, which shows a massive static hissing with the onboard sound. Does anyone know if is this a problem with my Asus Z97-P? I have also watched this video, which shows the USB Dac of the Cloud 2 taking a big fat dump on the otherwise pretty good mic quality and I am afraid it will have the same problem as the Revolver in the other video. Do you think it can be fixed by a small USB DAC like this one or do I need to buy a soundcard in order to fix it, if it appears to be an issue for me? I am also open to suggestions for other headsets in that price range! Thanks for any help in advance!
  8. The price definitely was listed, when I made this list. Well, I'll have to adjust that. Thanks for informing me of it!
  9. Okay, so I just signed up for this forum. Have planned to do that all these years when I was watching your channel! Super cool content (despite what many people are saying)... Keep 'em coming ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Luke tweeted out something about a challenge on this forum and since I love theorycrafting, I had to sign up Now to "my" PC: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Bjp27h Basically, it consists of an i7 6700k and a Asus GTX 1080 Strix Edition on a Z170-A MoBo. I wanted to make this system the most powerful one for 1700USD (which was the challenge, duh). The Asus Strix 1080 currently is the best GPU on the market (if it was available somewhere) from what I read and watched. That's why I saved on some parts like the SSD, which is "only" 250GB (enough for the OS and some Games imo). The GPU is the most important part of a system like that. The i7 6700k is sufficient for all current games and is a pretty good overclocker (with the H100i V2, something around the lines of at least 4.4Ghz should be able to realise). The Z170-A is a motherboard that's not overly expensive, but packs all the features you'd want in a system like this. I chose the case because LTT-colors! But theres more to it. It is a pretty nice looking silent case with a glass window. Neat to have. I also included a second be quiet! Pure Wings 2 fan for the front (I believe the Silent Base 800 only has one in the back, right?) The PSU is something I personally have used in many builds I have done for friends of mine (not the 650W model, but still EVGA is a trustworthy company, isn't it?). It has never failed me. The monitor is something I had my eyes on for a pretty long time now. Rocksolid 1440p with 144hz, which should be childs play for the 1080 to achieve in pretty much all games. I rather have 2.5k and a higher framerate than 4k with a lower framerate, but that's personal preference, also 4k monitors are more expensive right now. For the peripherals I chose the G502 because imo it's one of the best mice on the market right now. I simply love it, also the G710+ is a choice not everyone would make because it is said the caps break pretty easy. Not something I have experienced in almost a year using it (a friend of mine also uses the regular G710 and he also couldn't see any faulty keycaps), hence my choice is that keyboard. Keep in mind I am no native speaker (german vegan atheist that plans on becoming an engineer and crossfits - just kidding^^). I apologise for all silly mistakes I made (if I did any), but I believe anyone can understand what I meant with this text^^ ~RundesDreieck (rounded triangle for anyone interested in the meaning of my name)
