  1. I tried without the letter and NTFS and it was detected this time, then i realized another issue that confused me since the start. Select the drivers to be installed is the problem here. I see two places to search for it, a Boot (X:) location and the Local Disk (C:) which I assume is the hard disk im trying to install it in. I tried USB 2.0 port as well. I have an MSI Gaming H110 mATX motherboard
  2. Do I assign a Letter? Do I opt for a format and assign NTFS or select no? Also It didnt detect the drive when I booted
  3. That it!? lmao omg dude youre serious? Ill unplug the laptop hdd and leave the wd 500 in there and reboot using the usb?
  4. it has a logical section in the bottom, is it separate from the extended? oe is it the same thing and I dont need to worry about it

  6. http://prntscr.com/cbhy3d This is what Disk management shows me. And unfortunately I dont have the time to take it to the store, i need to install windows tonight and give my laptop to my brother. I also need to transfer the files to the new hdd with an ethernet cable before he leaves. I'm on a short time frame. Any way i can do this myself? I just dont have experience with hard disks
  7. So guys I built a new pc a month or so ago and got a hard disk WD Blue 500GB from a local store. Unfortunately they didnt have windows installation disks and i didnt get a cd drive. They just got me a windows 7 installation on a usb stick this week. Until now ive mounted my laptops hard disk onto the pc and has been using the pc off of that. However, now i must put my laptop hdd back into my laptop and install windows from the usb into that wd 500gb hard disk thats been sitting in my pc for all this time. I ran into a problem, why else would i be here asking for help. I unplugged my laptop hdd and plugged in the hdd which is unused till now since the store. It wasnt detected by the windows setup. so i plugged both my hard disks and saw that something was already in the hard disk. i was very confused and started looking up ways to format the already partitioned HDD. then i thought i should see if it already has windows installedi n it by any chance. I restarted and went into boot menu and voila! Ubuntu is starting up. I literally bought it in the plastic bag from the local store and plugged it in and its starting up ubuntu install. so i figured i look into it in ubuntu. it was runnign the setup and says i cant agree to the terms because its designed to work in a DELL device i was like wtf. I need to format and "un-partition" this hdd so that I can install a fresh copy of windows on it. HALP pls, i dont know how to clean a hdd and make it "unallocated"
  8. problem still persisted. I decided to leave it since I realized the motherboard may have 6 channel capabilities buyt only had 1 audio out option. I plan on getting a USB 7.1 headphones instead for now and maybe in the future get an audio card to perform a real home theatre setup. THanks for all the help guys
  9. the PSU actually came with a 2pin plug but I had the issue with that so I sswitched to the 3 pin and the problem persisted. Should I use a 3pin for the home theatre?
  10. But also, the PC has a 3 pin plug. It used to gimme small shocks but not anymore after I switched out the 2 pin for the 3 pin. The Home theatre is 2 pin but it works fine with the phone only PC. I can also hear the Pc output when I play songs but the static is equally loud.
  11. Ah, you know any DIY ghetto ways to do it? I built it for my little brother abroad. I'm not in the states rn. there aint no deliveries here..
  12. Hey Guys, I love coming here with my tech issues and talking to all the others out there who have the same passion for tech like me. I'm experiencing an issue with my home theater. My PC has an MSI H110 mATX motherboard which advertises great audio quality and whatnot. It works great with my Headphones. I dont use a monitor instead my LG TV since I had a spare using HDMI. I sometimes use TV speakers as default or sometimes for gaming I switch to "Speakers". I wanna try using my Home theater system. I was never really into audio so I dont know anything much about it. Everytime I plug it in theres a static sound constantly playing even if theres no sound output from the PC. Details for your analysis: PC uses a 3 pin plug but home theater uses 2 pin. Home theater has 4 speakers around the room, 1 center and a subwoofer (the big box that makes the umpf umpf). Home theater works fine with my phone and uses standard aux cable for input. Please see if you can help and if you need to know more just ask away I'll be here
  13. Is this a survey? I think this is a survey. Keyboard and mouse by CoolerMaster. I got the CM Storm Devastator combo at 30bucks when I built my PC a year and a half ago. My headphones are my dads Beats Solo 2 Wireless which I use with wire cus my PC has no bluetooth. I also use a mic from a $2 mic included headphones I got free with when I bought my laptop less than a year ago. No monitor but instead I use an LG TV in the hall. Sick setup but thats what happens when you allocate all your budget to your PC and not your peripherals.
  14. This is the tape I used. theres 3 layers of it. 2 on the side to prevent these little dented screw holes from poking the hdd and 1 on the disk. I made 4 strips to be aligned next to each other so that its more of a surface of foam than a strip. This is where my main concern lies about being anti vibration. Aside from the orientation, will this help as much or more than a regular drive mount holder?
  15. im keeping the laptop hdd horizontally but this is only until my windows copy arrives. after that ill remove the laptop hdd and install windows on the desktop 3.5 inch hdd. glad the orientation will work in any orientation cus I couldnt put it horizontally for cable management. Didn't think I'd need to put up anything more later since this is for my little brother
