Tamesh16 reacted to dizmo in Could someone help me confirm that all the parts for my dream PC are all compatible and that everything will fit? I'm new to the PC building scene
What are you using the PC for? It seems really unbalanced.
Some things I noticed:
Probably wouldn't get that cooler, that's an insane price for something like that. The 3060 is pretty under powered if you're going to be gaming. You don't need the 980 Pro. I'd get a cheaper drive. You probably don't need a sound card, especially if you're getting a cheap one like that. Take the budget from the sound card and WiFi module and get a better motherboard that incorporates both. I wouldn't get an MSI motherboard. Case is ridiculously priced for what you're getting, and likely has abysmal airflow. $220 on fans? Just. No. Also, why are you buying so many? If you have to have them, the AIO already has it's own. Over all I think you need to do a lot of thought about where you've put your money in the build. Cut down on the fans, get a more reasonable cooler and case, and you can easily get a 3070 and have a significantly better system.
Welcome to the forum.

Didn't see a spot to post stuff specifically for WAN show, thought it might be a worthy discussion for this weeks WAN show.
Linus starts talking about it at around 28:34.
Specific prediction happens at 29:15.

Tamesh16 reacted to Spotty in Think someone is spoofing ltt
It's a scam. LTT will not contact you via the youtube comment system or telegram/whatsapp/etc.
Youtube has a huge problem with scammers using bots to reply to comments claiming that everybody who commented on a video won a free prize and to contact them by telegram/whatsapp/etc. This is affecting all medium/large Youtube channels, not just LTT.

Tamesh16 reacted to Needfuldoer in Dehumidifier Recommendations
Exactly. I set mine to 55% and leave it powered on all year, but it only has to work during the summer.
Air sealing and insulating the rim joist made a big difference for me, too. Ever since I did that, I noticed my dehumidifier only has to run about half as much as it used to. (I used 2" XPS foam and Rockwool to get about an R33.)

Tamesh16 reacted to Needfuldoer in Dehumidifier Recommendations
Keep the filter clean, leave enough room around it for good air circulation, don't run it at 100% full blast 24/7.
I've had mine for almost 5 years, but that's probably the newer version of it.

we have been using this one in our basement for about 2 years now. works great, had to clean the filter a few times(nothing abnormal), but no issues.

Tamesh16 reacted to TheBean in Does Linus not know how web browsers work and have worked since the early 2000's
i think you need to chill...
Linus nuked his pop installation because he got a wall of text and didnt read what it said in its entirety. are you saying you read the entire terms and conditions when you sign up for something? Probably not. you just click next/accept. thats the same thing linus did. there was no indication for a normal person that this command would nuke his computer. thats the point of the video. to show what its like for the normal person. This situation was Pop_os's fault, not linus. they had some problems with the dependancies which have now been fixed.
you need to see this from the perspective of a NORMAL person who does not know how to use a computer and 99% of the time just uses their computer as a web browser. Linus uses windows, so I dont expect him to fully understand how linux works. sure, he uses it daily for all of the networking stuff etc, but still. his main system is windows.
im going to go out on a limb and say YOU are the reason people dont use linux.

Tamesh16 reacted to Montana One-Six in How significant is cellular 5G vs 4G in daily use-case?
Depends on what you are doing with your phone. I didn't even notice the switch from HSPA to 4G to be honest because I only use my phone for texting and navigation (maybe reading the news once in a while) when on the go.

Tamesh16 reacted to OhioYJ in Gpu requires 3 8pin cables… should I just get extensions or complete Modular cables?
Don't use extensions, that's asking for trouble. You could modify the factory cables? However... As you already pointed out:
With this in mind, the real solution is the custom cables. Yes it's kind of annoying to spend $100 on a set of cables, but it will be done right and will look so much better. I would get one of the cables that is all 3 tied together 8+8+8, basically a 24 pin cable (keeps the wires nice and neat):

Tamesh16 reacted to LAwLz in 30 fps Render animation video vs 24 fps render video then convert it into 30 fps
That's not true.
I am not sure what processing OP is talking about, but it is possible to dynamically generate additional frames. It's called motion interpolation. It works pretty well, although I personally don't like it since I prefer my videos at 24 or 30 FPS.

Tamesh16 reacted to Needfuldoer in Arizona Mom orders +5000 SIM cards from T-Mobile, gets suspended AFTER receiving them all
They probably order those pre-printed boxes by the shipping container, and just use them for everything. Order a new phone with a battery? You get that box. Order several SIM kits? They come in that box.
The extra postage must be offset by the labor savings. (No time wasted on "which box is the most efficient", the process is streamlined down to "use that box".)

Tamesh16 reacted to Bitter in Worst Tech mistake you have ever made?
If that happens again use a sewing pin with a tiny bit of super glue on the tip, touch it to the rice and wait a minute, then you should be glued to the rice and pull it out. Also, how to tell everyone you're Indian without saying you're Indian. Rice grain in phone port, just Indian problems LOL!

Tamesh16 got a reaction from da na in Worst Tech mistake you have ever made?
My mom get something stuck in her phones audio port, I think it was a grain of rice, So I just needed to take off the back to push out it through a space in the connector mounted on the board with a pin.
when putting the phone back together there seemed to be a screw missing and when putting in the last screw I had trouble reaching any threads.
Turns out the phone was a strange version that has an empty screw hole, not threads nothing so when trying to put it in I was making small aluminium shards go into the main board...
The phone never turned on again
It was such a simple thing turned so wrong

Tamesh16 reacted to LinusTech in Thoughts on Extra.App?
I sincerely hope that the correct authorities take care of Plaid's bad behavior, but there's a pretty slippery slope here. We haven't engaged with Plaid in any way, and as far as we can tell, Extra is in good faith creating a product/service that (while not perfect) is valuable to people and doesn't appear to be any WORSE than anything else, even if we all wish it was BETTER in this way.
If we start refusing to engage with companies who (through no choice or fault of their own) have to engage with crummy players that's going to leave a VERY short list, and I don't really think it makes a ton of sense.
