  1. Yeah I should definitly get one of those bracelets
  2. It's possible to short something even though it's unplugged ? The card doesn't have a warranty seal, my friend will attempt a RMA this week
  3. Thanks for the answer ! The screwdriver never touched the die, just the excess paste on the side of it I didn't want to touch it
  4. Hi ! So a friend of mine has a brand new RTX 2080ti, he also has a Kraken G12 Hybrid Cooling kit by NZXT for that card that he wanted to install. It required disassembling the card and its many screws which we did by following the video linked below litteraly step-by-step. Once we plugged the card after we were done, it posted for like 5 seconds and then it stopped working (the screen showed "No signal"). We booted the computer on integrated graphics to see if it showed in device manager and it didn't. We disassembled the kit and put the card back together with its original cooling : when the computer started up, the green GeForce LED on the card didn't light up, the fans ran like a hair dryer and the screen still showed "No signal". We tried on another PCI port and same thing. A couple hours later we tried again : the GeForce LED lit up, the fans ran at a normal speed, and a couple minutes later it posted. We tested 2 games and there are a bunch of artifacts like coloured clouds floating around. My first question is what the f*** ? And my second question is : since I'm pretty sure we damaged the card somehow I'd like to know how it could have happened because I don't wanna do the same mistake twice. We regularly touched the ground on an electric sockets (euro sockets) to get rid of static electricity, no water was involved, at no point we applied unreasonable force to the card while disassembling it, and the only thing we did the guy in the video didn't do is we very very very gently scraped the excess thermal paste on the side of the GPU chip with a small flathead screwdriver. Thanks ! EDIT : At no point the screwdriver touched the die, I just used it for the excess paste on the sides. I cleaned the die with special wipes
  5. Thanks to all of you! CPU it is. crysilis: I can send you what I've got my eyes on so you can judge what is the budget yourself (prices aren't the same from the US) ^^ ASUS VivoBook Pro N552VX-FI223T http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00213047.html
  6. Hello, me and one of my friend are going to buy a laptop: I'm into doing 3D things on Cinema 4D (among others) and my friend is into video editing. For 3D modelisation is it best to get a laptop with a good CPU (i7-6700HQ) and medium GPU (GTX 950m) or the other way around (i5 6300HQ + GTX 960m or 970m)? The same quation goes for the video editing laptop. Thanks! And pardon my english, I'm french
  7. i7 4770 it is then! Thanks to SamStrecker but also to everyone else! You've been really helpful
  8. About that GTA lag, I think it's just the Pentium AND the 750ti that causes problem: I played GTA 5 perfectly well with an i5 4570 and GTX 660 just like I've seen people play perfectly well on a Pentium G3258 and GTX 960
  9. Thanks for all the replies! So if I understand well, it's best to get an i7 4770 for 100€ more? (50€ for my friend as well as his brother)
  10. Hello! I've got a friend and his brother who both want to get a decent gaming rig for what we might call a medium budget (around 680€ each which is something like 750$ US). Considering they both live in the same house and don't plan on moving out anytime soon I thought it would be nice to make a computer like in 2 Gamers 1 CPU in order to get more dollars/performance ratio. I was just wondering, will an i5 4570 give decent performance? Thanks!
